Dinner Teasings
"Hey Romanoff, could you pass me the one that has more red peppers? I'm in the mood for something hot, spicy and capable of setting my loins on fire." Tony stated a little too calmly from his spot next to Steve.
"Sure thing." The redheaded spy said far too sweetly for her age and passed the untouched pizza box to the genius inventor.
Steve watched their exchange silently and prayed to every single deity he had heard of during his life that they would leave things at that.
"Would you like to try some of Nat's borscht, Cap? It's to die for." Clint asked the silent blonde, gently pushing the bowl towards the said man.
Steve glanced at the steaming hot bowl and glared at the man from the corner of his eye.
The fact that Clint tried (and failed) to keep a straight face on only made Steve want to smash the bowl over his head.
It all started with that stupid game a week ago.
The team was having a slow day and an even slower night. So, Bruce suggested they all play a game to keep them somewhat entertained for the evening (and to prevent them from dying of sheer boredom as well).
Naturally, everyone quickly agreed and wasted no time in gathering in the common area of the tower in a matter of seconds.
They had decided to play Truth or Dare, per Natasha's request. And after Clint went over the rules for everyone, they began to play.
Steve had to admit that it was truly fun at first. He learned things he previously hadn't known about his team and saw things he'd rather forget. But, he couldn't deny that he had had fun for the first time in a long while.
However, when Tony choose him after several rounds into the game was the moment when everything went downhill for him.
"Be careful, Clint. You know Steve has a hard time stomaching spicy things. We wouldn't want something to happen to him." Maria said from the other side of the table, her lips twitching upwards.
"Seriously, Clint. You should use your head more." Natasha added, "We wouldn't want Steve to get all tongue tied and sweaty. After all, it's really hard to get the taste of pepper off your tongue." Her voice may have said concern, but her eyes told a whole other tale.
Steve's cheeks went blazing red instantly and he turned towards the female agent so fast that his neck could have snapped.
"Now, now, you guys." Tony jumped in before Steve could fire a remark of his own, "Let's not tease the good old Cap over his huge ass crush on Pep. We're enjoying some quality food here, so let's try to avoid teasing him about it until she gets here."
Steve grumbled something under his breath and picked up his fork, ready and intent on getting back to eating his steak, when a hand came into his field of vision holding a silver spice shaker.
"Want some pepper, Cap?" Tony asked innocently, shaking the aforementioned container at Steve.
With reddened cheeks, Steve slapped the hand away and walked away from the table, glaring at his so-called team as they laughed at him.
Clicking his tongue in disappointment, he ignored their calls and hastily made his way towards his room.
'I can't believe that I'd ever miss being in the ice.' He thought as he slammed the door behind him.
