James POV
“What the fuck Black?” I ask as my eyes lock with those stormy gray eyes. He simply signs and sits down in the chair across from me looking bored as if he hadn’t just snogged me.
“It really had nothing to do with you Potter-”
“It was my lips you were kissing a second ago so it really does have something to do with me,” I snap and he shoots me a glare.
“If you would let me finish,” he spits out, “you were simply in the right place at the right time.”
“What were you even doing up here?” I ask, “And why would you kiss me if you were coming up here with a girl?” Regulus Black has always been a sort of enigma for me. Sure he was Sirius’ little brother, but even then Sirius didn’t talk about him much. It hurt too much when Regulus ignored his trying to reach out for help. Sirius was at a complete loss with Regulus and I was even more lost.
“I wasn’t coming up here with a girl,” he snaps sitting up, “a girl was being overly touchy and making a move on me so I was trying to escape her.”
“Why didn’t you just tell her you weren’t interested in her?” He barks out a laugh at the seemingly obvious choice.
“Have you ever tried to tell Greengrass no or better yet my mother whose plan this probably was?” he stops and gives me a look, “no probably not, you probably wouldn’t even give her the time of day.”
“Hey that's not fair,” I snapped, understanding what he wasn’t saying.
“Isn’t it? I’m sure you think all of us Slytherins are out for blood and dark nobility.”
“Once again that’s not a fair assumption,” I snapped, getting aggravated.
“Oh yeah? The holy James Potter from the literal Kingdom of Luster isn’t completely against us Slytherins?” At this point Regulus had got up and started pacing, his shoulders tight and hands balled into fists.
“No,” I whisper and he stops immediately, his hands dropping to his sides.
“What?”
“I said no Regulus,” I sigh, my voice now stronger than it was earlier, “I’m not against Slytherins, never have been.”
His eyes were wide, “I… but.. You’re the biggest Gryfendor fan and my brother-” I cut him off irritated.
“I am not your brother Regulus, besides Snevillous and his gang I have never had a bad experience with a Slytherin so no I am not against Slytherins.” Regulus blinks at me slowly like a cat watching its prey, an odd expression on his face.
“What?” I got even more irritated.
“Nothing I just-,” he shakes his head, “nothing.” I want to say something but I keep it inside rolling my eyes instead.
“I still don’t know why you felt the need to kiss me,” I sigh.
“What?” he stammers and I just raise my eyebrows, I think I see a faint pink across his shoulders but it’s dark enough that it could just be lighting playing tricks on me, “oh right, I needed her to think I was seeing someone.”
“And I was that someone?”
“Like I said Potter, right place, right time.”
“More like the wrong place at the wrong time,” I grumbled under my breath.
“What was that?” He asks cooly.
“Nothing,” I reply just as cooly.
He huffs and then suddenly drops to the chair and puts his hands in his head, “Merlin's balls.”
“What? What is it?” I rush over trying to look over him to see what could have happened.
“Adorabella Greengrass is the biggest gossip in the school,” he whispers.
“So?” I ask confused and he looks me in the eye
“She just caught us snogging, and I told her you were my boyfriend.” It takes me a second before I realize what he said. By the time classes started tomorrow the school would know that he, James Potter, had kissed his best friend's little brother Regulus Black, and that they were “dating”.
Suddenly the astronomy tower was very small.
