Stare At The Stars, and Know I Loved You
“Stay awake, please” they plead,
But it’s all I can do just breathe.
The weight of the world is on my chest,
So please, just let me rest.
It hurts, it burns, it scars,
So please, just let me stare at the stars.
The stars who twinkle with sparks of light,
And comets that race into the dead of night.
Let me stare, expand my view,
And God, am I happy it’s you.
I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side,
To comfort, hold, cherish me while I died.
We were meant to be, tried and true,
And please don’t become too blue.
You need to learn to laugh, to love
Once I’ve made my journey to the above.
You won’t be alone, I’ll watch over you,
Just stare at the stars and remember,
I love you.
