Telling Steve.

This morning the ex-avengers and I arrived at the compound. We had been pardoned and were returning to stop HYDRA. Stark and Ms Potts greet us. I cringed, uncomfortable with so many people in the room, more people meant more tests. I’ll have to put up with many more if I stand a chance of finding Peter.

Stark greeted Stevie tersely, barely acknowledging my presence. I can’t complain though, I deserve much worse, I’m lucky he didn’t shoot me with his repulsors the moment I entered the building.

------------------------------

I settled on my bed. I gently pulled a soft pastel pink scarf from my bag. Holding the scarf to my face I inhaled, it smelt like home, it smelt like Peter. A few years ago, we were on a mission, in Italy we’d finished a week early, meaning we got to have a holiday together. We were walking through the markets hand-in-hand, when Peter saw a stool with beautiful clothes, the soft pink color of the scarf looked so beautiful on Peter that I had to buy it. He was ecstatic that day. Rambling about how much he loved it, and me. Smiling all day, he refused to take it off until we got back. Peter even rode me with it on, with the evening light illuminating his curls, his lithe body, pale pink highlighting the flush covering him.

Last week they finally removed the last of HYDRA’s code words from my head. They’d offered to remove the memories, but that would mean forgetting Pete, not that I’d told them that. I still hadn’t found a way to tell any of them about Peter and I.

I heard a knock on my door. Then Stevie walked in, strolling over to the bed, and sitting a bit too close. I shifted uncomfortably, Stevie had been too touchy-feely since I came back, I guess he was just relieved to have his pseudo-brother back.

“Tony wants us to go to dinner with the Avengers. I said probably not because-“

I cut Steve off. “I’m going to go.” He looked at me strangely. I never volunteer to socialize. But Peter loves to be around people. Everyone (who’s not insane or evil, so discounting HYDRA) who meets Peter adores him. When I find Peter he’ll become friends with the others, so I should to at least be on friendly terms with them.

As I thought, Stevie had gotten even closer. Far too close. I shifted away. Steve put his hand on my thigh. I pushed him off the bed. “Okay, Steve we NEED to talk.” Steve blinked up at me.

I helped off the floor. “Steve, I don’t see you that way. Also, I’ve been trying to find a way to tell you this. The reason I wanted to come here, is that I’m in a relationship. Have been for years, but he’s still stuck in HYDRA, and I need him, Steve.”

Steve gaped at me. “What?” He asked, completely dumbfounded.

FRIDAY interrupted. “Mr Capsicle and Mr Count Buckula are requested for dinner.”

I went downstairs.
