Chapter 1
Chapter 1
[The Beginning]
She was taught to fear the dark
But never the light
When you are smart, people may see you as inspirational, everything they want to be and more. Or they think you can be dangerous so you get on their radar. Then they try to contain you until they see you are not a threat to the people of the nation or even the world.
Alora is one of those people. A genius.
Most people would say that's a good thing why wouldn’t you want to be a genius. Well whenyour parents are genius crazy scientists, people tend to be scared of what you can do. That's how she got on Shields radar, well that and having 3 Phds by 16 years old. Also the reason why Shields Sci-Tech Academy came all the way to Australia to recruit her.

“ I have a last minute addition to the team, you should consider, if you don’t mind Coulson,” Hill said, handing him a file before continuing
“Dr. Alora Robin, 22, born in Melbourne Australia and moved to Sydney after her fathers death. She is a typical case of an abused child, with a psychotic mother who was too smart for her own good. Other than that she has a genius level iq, with 4 Phds, 2 Masters, and 3 BAs. She is not cleared for combat, but she is athletic, surfer and runner. Finally since Ward has zero people skills Dr.Robin has the best people skills I have seen in a while. The only problem would be she is not a official agent because she just graduated from Sci-Tech”
“Well she could be of use in the lab with Fitz-Simmons, and use her talents for something good.” Coulson said upon hearing Hill's quick summary of Alora.

Walking up to the plane was nerve wracking, Alora spinning the ring on her finger. 1 2 3 on one ring, then 1 2 3 on the next repeat the process. Before she knew it she was standing right in front of it about to go in. Taking a deep breath she walked into the plane and into what she presumed was the lab. All she was told was to find Agents, Fitz, Simmons, and Ward
“Agents Fitz, Simmons, and Ward?’ Alora asks, cautiously walking into the lab. Looking up and around from what they were doing.
“Simmons, Ward, Fitz” The one smashing a comm slightly pointing to the people as he said the names.
“Robin, Dr. Alora Robin” She tells them and Simmons face lights up
“She's the one I was telling you about Fitz! This is all of our first times in the field, Isn’t that fun?” Simmons exclaimed smiling. Ward walking out of the room
“Yeah so much fun” Alora said, returning the smile. She seems very cheerful for being stuck on a plane and going into near death experiences.
“So put your equipment over here, then we can all go to the bunks and unpack” Jemma said, grabbing one of the cases from her hand and setting it on the table.
“Okay where are the bunks?” Alora asked looking around the lab.
“Just follow me” Jemma said, walking out of the lab, Alora and Fitz following bags in hand. Alora made a mental note of the place, she had only two days to pack for this adventure so she didn’t really have time for questions. They soon got to an area with three bunks near each other.
“Your bunk is the one farthest down, when you are done packing, meet us in the lounge for take off” Simmons said, nodding her head towards the end of the hallway. With a quiet okay she started down the hall toward the bunk.
She slides open the door and sets her bags down on the bed. Alora starts putting stuff into the storage area under the bed. Everything had its place and that the way she kept it since she was a child. Alora looks behind her to make sure no one is there before putting a small black bag all the way in the back of the storage area out of sight from anyone.
Alora then grabs a little safe she built and puts it on the small table beside the bed. She opens the safe with the code and her thumb prints. When it opens it shows her gun which she quickly grabs and puts in her holster under her jumper. She was wearing a pair of black jeans, a white collared shirt tucked into then, and a dark orange sweater.
When she finished unpacking, she walked out into the hallway and found her way to the lounge. She sat down in the empty seat next to Fitz.
“What did you study?” Fitz asked as she buckled in. She looks up and at him.
“ I studied a bit of everything really, But I have a talent in Bio-engineering.” Alora said, spinning her ring again. She never really liked talking about her accomplishments.
“They never told us about that, it's amazing!” Simmons exclaimed as May walked in
“So we are going to go to the site and see if we can figure out what happened, Fitz-Simmons you are experts in your fields as well as agents, Dr.Robin you just graduated from the academy, you will only assist them when necessary, understood? .”
“Yes ma’am” Robin says nodding her head.
“Good, wheels up in 2 minutes” May said walking away. Alora's eyes trail her as she walks away.
“She's a bit intense, isn’t she?” Alora said as soon as she knew May was gone.
“Yeah, but it's understandable” Fitz says as the plane starts taking off.
“Exactly the reason I didn’t go into operations” Alora said The Bus now in the air.
“You would have done operations?” Fitz asked her
“It was my second choice,” Alora told him. Which is very true, but the Sci-tech academy was always the top pick. Her dad would have been proud of her for getting this far, but he didn’t last that long.
Alora's life has been less desirable. Her dad died when she was 11, her mom dragged her to Sydney where her new boyfriend was, his personality was less desirable. Alora doesn’t hate people, but she made an exception for him. When people tell you to stay away from peoples whose names start with “J” you should listen. His name is Jacob and he is Alora's least favorite person on this earth. Technically Jacob is her step-dad but Alora always called him Jacob. He practically took over her life controlling each and every little thing she did. Not to mention the psychological abuse she went through.
She only got out of that house when a Shield team came for her. Alora was the youngest in all of her classes, it had its advantages but also disadvantages. By disadvantages she means people not taking her seriously, trying to influence her to do not great things, and things leading her to almost go off the deep end and having to do a lot of therapy before going back to the academy to graduate. Even then she made sure everyone else who was there at that time had graduated before going back.
To sum it up her life has been a living hell.
Alora unbuckles before going down to the lab to pack the things they will need in the field. She grabs the sample kits before the head to the car that May was driving to the site. The car ride was relatively quiet, Simmons was overly excited, Fitz looked nervous, May didn’t show any emotion, and Alora looked calm but was freaking out internally. The car stopped and they got out equipment in hand.
Robin started waking up to the building with the sample kits trailing behind slightly. She felt like she needed to prove herself. She's the youngest on the team, and was thrown into this whole other world. Alora never signed up for this but yet here she is. Agent Hill was the one who signed her up, she knew that Maria felt a sense of responsibility for her. Even though she went to sci-tech Hill was her S.O. Well that was after some or so great things happened at sci-tech that caused her to leave for a few years.
Hill was second in command to Fury, but she had heard about Alora, well really everyone had. Daughter of a legendary Shield scientist and agent, not to mention her intellect level. So while everyone was stating their cases on why they should get her, the most common reason being Weaver (soon Coulson) got Fitz-Simmons. So while they were all bickering Hill actually did something and took Alora under her wing before anyone else could.
They allowed this because Alora really could have just tested out of the academy. Maria really was her mentor, Hill really did have a subtle soft spot for her.
Picking up the pace, Alora walks into the building. Not really listening to the conversations going on around her. Ducking to get out of the way of one of Fitz drones to get a sample of the things around her, she looked around until something caught her eye. It was just the tiniest bit of glass with just a drop of something glowing. When she got closer it seemed to glow brighter and so did the ground around her. Robin grabbed tweezers and a containment jar, picking it up and putting it in the jar. As well as taking a picture of what was all over the ground. While she is doing that one of the drones comes right next to her.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. I’ve got something in something.” Fitz exclaims suddenly
“Who’s got it” Simmons asks looking around
“Uh. Bashful, Robin if you could uh move” Fitz says pointing toward Robin’s right where the drone was
“Of course, sorry” She said, stepping back out of their way. They determined it was a security camera and they could most likely get footage out of it. After that Simmons finds something on the ground.
“Robin can you grab that case it has something we can put this in” Simmons asks her
“Yeah, I’m not sure if this has anything to do with what you just found but there was some sort of broken vial over where the camera was. From just looking at it it seems to be some sort of serum. So he probably isn’t naturally gifted with powers, well no one really is anymore. Though getting back to the serum, if they had some sort of containment device constantly flowing this mixture into him, personally I would use a intravenous filter, butthat would explain the apparent powers and usually serums like that heighten someone's emotions so if someone where to get really angry, they could possible not control it” Alora finished talking while handing Simmons what she asked for, everyone looking at her strangely from getting so much information from just a shard of glass.
“My mum and her husband make things like this” Robin quickly said feeling the need to explain herself
“Well let's finish up here and see what we can do in the lab” May said
_______________________________________________________
When they had gotten back Alora had stayed in the lab while everyone else went up to see the footage. She was running tests on the serum that was there. Soon after Simmons and Fitz joined her in the lab. The tests she had run came back positive for almost everything people have been trying to use to recreate the super soldier serum.
More people came down when Fitz was able to get one of his gadgets setup. “Now, using motion estimation, Bayesian Inference, a beam splitter and a little defraction theory, our mystery man…appears. It’s like magic. But it’s – it’s science.”
“Explosives in the case?” Ward asks watching he 3D model
“Wait, did you – did you see that on his arm?” Fit said rewinding it
“What does that look like to you?” Coulson asked
“A centipede.” Ward replied
“It’s an intravenous filter for his blood, Like Robin said earlier. This goo, sir – very similar to the serum Dr. Erskine developed in the 40s for the –'' Simmons started saying
“Super Soldiers” Coulson finished for her
All of them minus Alora were talking about what would happen but she looked up when Simmons said her name.
“Robin, you were you saying earlier about your mum and dad and how they worked with these types of serums and emotions”
“ I said my mum and her husband created serums. When they were testing a certain one it had heightened the participants emotions and they had gotten so angry that they no longer had control of their emotions, but in this case it seems that they exploded. Though not because of the anger like I previously thought it is related though, because I had tested that serum after they were done with it to see if I could make any improvements but when i tested it on a mouse and it caused a small explosion, so if we can’t calm his mind down, he will go kaboom” Alora moving her hands in an outward motion signaling explosion. She looked back down at what she was doing before .
Coulson was telling them to find a way to calm him down without killing Mike. So with a very stressed Fitz they were able to come up with a way to use the Night-Night gun to paralyze him and eventually stabilize him. Well after a few mini arguments, the throwing of papers, slamming of chairs and tables.
“We need to get this down right now” Alora said when they had finished. So they ended up running down and shoving the gun to Ward. They watched as the bullet hit Mike. When he went down to her and Simmons rushed over to look at the vitals. Their first mission was a success.
In the end it had worked out well and Mike was Alive and stable.
