It was a lovely day in New York, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, no abnormal things were attacking, it was a lovely day. At least Vision hoped it was, it had to be, he needed it to be a happy lovely day. Because if it wasn't then Tony wasn't happy and if Tony isn't happy then his whole idea can be thrown into the gutter.
Did he sound anxious? Cause he really isn't.
Vision is a robot, everyone knows that, but he can feel things like a human being, not everyone agrees with that. It took a while for Vision to consider that notion. Humans are strange creatures but he found them endearing, but he found Wanda the most endearing out of them all. Wanda also found him endearing in a way, she saw him for who he really was when everyone else wouldn't. She saw past wires.
All though be be told he was always captivated by Ms. Maximoff, drawn to her.
It had taken others a while to see him as something more than a glorified computer, as something other than a machine, or a weapon. But overtime they did, the first person who did other than Wanda was one of his creators, Tony Stark. Vision didn't know why, maybe it was because he built him, saw him as a part of Jarvis, or because he had similar... 'children' like him.
Nonetheless...he believed that his creator had a soft spot for him. And he really needed his approval for this to work.
Vision knows that Tony and Wanda don't have the best relationship, with the whole bomb and mind magic, but he thinks that they could be civil enough to make it work.
Vision had thought long and hard about this and he thinks this will be the next step to their relationship. He knew this wasn't like him, he didn't do things spontaneously but it would be nice to build a home together. It was a surprise but he hoped that it would be a surprise Wanda enjoyed. He just needed Stark's approval and Wanda to agree.
So this is why he is standing in front of Stark's office.
There were some chairs next to the door so he sat down and waited for him there for Tony, knowing that he wouldn't forget this meeting because Pepper made him. He hoped it was a good day for him. He fiddled a little and thought for a while, he started second guessing himself 'what if he was wrong and this wasn't the right thing to do'.
But before his thoughts could go any further Tony opened the door of his 'work' office (he never used that office, it was mostly for show). He walked down the hall and the chairs where Vision was sitting on before retracing his steps, stopping and turned to him.
"Vision what's up- what are you doing here?" He said and turned his head around the halls as if searching for something, "What's going on?" Tony said.
Well as humans say 'here goes nothing.' "Well," Vision started standing up "I was wondering, I have a small favour to ask of you," he said slightly nervously. "Sure what is it?" Tony said clearly confused, "Well I was hoping we could talk about it in private." Vision said slightly tilting his head at him, Tony looked around again as if something was going to pop out, "Uh, sure thing buddy- let's uh- let's go." He said he put his hands around Vision's shoulders and started leading him to his lab confused as ever.
As they started walking to Tony's lab Vision silently hoped that Tony had a nice day so that Stark could possibly agree more. Perhaps the spider vigilante that Tony seemed to be fond of did something good. He already picked the house he wanted to live in, a nice neighborhood for Wanda and him. It would be nice if the both of them could build it together, maybe that kid that Tony was fond of did something good, that always made Tony smile fondly.
"So what's up? If this is about Rhodney, he already forgave you, it was an accident Vis-" Tony said before Vision cut him off. "No it isn't about that," he said fiddling with his fingers, "Ah, so how was your online meeting?" Vision said, trying to deflect and see if this was a good idea after all. "It was a meeting, Vision. Who wants to go to a meeting?" He said squinting his eyes at him judging him a little, "Vision what do you want? Not trying to be a downcaster but you're not usually like this." Tony said, grabbing one of his tools. Vision opened and closed his mouth a few times trying to get the right words to say, "Vis, you know you can tell me right?" Tony said, raising an eyebrow at him.
Knowing Tony wasn't good with words and judging by his face he knew he was trying his best he decided it was time "You're right, you're right-" he started before Tony cut him off "Of course I am, I'm a genius. Now come and tell papa what's wrong." Tony said leaning on the table and crossing his arms.
'Well as humans say here goes nothing.' Vision thought. "I'm planning to ask Wanda to take our relationship to the next step. I know that this might come as a shock to you but I have been seeing Wanda for the past few months. I know she's on the run but I have been talking to her and seeing her and I want Wanda and I to move together. Not in the compound, not on the run, just us in a nice normal neighborhood." Vision said not having the courage to look at Tony yet but continued talking, "She has talked about wanting to live in a nice normal life away from this," motioning to everything both knowing what he was talking about, "I want to do that. I want to give her the life that she wants. I know you two don't have the best relationship but I want this." Vision said as he finally looked up at Tony, not knowing what to expect but wished for the best.
The both quietly looked at each other for a while. Vision started fiddling with his hands a little while Tony remained quit. With his hands crossed he slowly looked at Vision up and down and finally spoke.
"The fact that you thought that I didn't know that you were sneaking out in my own home is offending, honestly." Tony snapped his tongue standing up straight. Vision's eyes widened a bit before Tony continued, "Yeah, I know you've been sneaking out to see that little witch, I'm not mad, honest." Tony said, raising both hands as if surrendering. "Can't say I'm not surprised though, you two wanting to run away and what? Run away and live a normal life, no offense but you guys aren't exactly the definition of normal." Tony said looking at him and motioning at his body, most likely the red on his 'skin'. "It makes sense though, you guys were never big on this. The superhero business." Tony said with his head tilted looking deep in thought.
Vision's eyes widened a bit slightly panicked, though he was a bit glad that Tony wasn't outright refusing. "You said you have a house?" He said knowing the answer but still looked at Vision, as he nodded. He then clapped his hands and got up walking to the door, Vision got up as well following "Sir, where are you going?" Vision said confused, "Well we're going to see your new home, c'mon" Tony said with a grabbing motion as they headed to Tony's car.
Tony got on the driver's seat as Vision got on the passengers. He put his seat belt on and turned to an expecting Tony who had his eyebrow raised. They sat there for a while and Vision looked around confused. Tony motioned to the top of the car, "You gonna-" he said as Vision tilted his head confused, "You gonna put in the address to your new house?" Tony said a little exasperated nodding to the gps, "Oh- yeah I'll- let me just," he said as he put in the address, while Tony looked at him as if saying 'this is the Vision?'
As Vision put in the address, he started to calm down noting that Tony said 'your new house', yours. Vision's new house, he smiled slightly and looked at Tony's face a bit surprised as to why there was a look of disgust in his face. "So let me get this straight," he said driving away from the parking lot, "you want to live in New Jersey with Wanda," he said slowly, "Yes," a bit confused since this is the whole reason why they're going to New Jersey,
"Yes and I know you guys aren't on good terms, but I think she deserves this and I really do love her." Said Vision.
"Hmm...? Oh I don't mind you two being a thing, with everything I think you two deserve it, what I have a problem is you WANTING to move to NEW JERSEY, no offense Vis but who wants to live in NEW JERSEY!" Tony said with elegance and not at all shouting, taken aback by Vision's request to WANTING to live in NEW JERSEY.
Vision was taken aback he thought Tony would have more trouble with Wanda and him but apparently he had more problems with New Jersey. Although he didn't get why Tony had a problem he felt slightly offended because he made a lot of research for his house, he then knitted his robotic eyebrows in confusion and said, "What's wrong with New Jersey? I made a lot of research and it's good-" he said slightly mad before Tony cut him, "What's wrong with New Jersey?" He said with a slight laugh, "everything. Why- What- Why in your right mind makes you want to move there? I thought you were supposed to be smarter than this?" Tony said exasperated.
"I am. I just-" Vision said taking a breath, "I made a lot of research for this. I think I know what I'm thinking," he said, Tony side eyed and muttered "Well clearly not enough,"
Vision pursed his lips and absolutely did not pout, he looked ahead and saw the town sign 'WestView' come up ahead and couldn't help but smile.
As they headed to the house they looked threw the small town, it was lovely. They're were townsfolk walking around soaking each other's company, some were dancing outside a small restaurant music in the background, a group of teens doing they're own thing being happy, they were all smiling and having fun. It's as if nothing could come between the town.
Vision looked over at Tony who looked a little impressed and Vision smiled at him softly. Tony who had caught him looking pursed his lips and squinted his eyes a little at Vision before smiling and looking at the road.
They cleared through some houses before going to a familiar neighbor, Vision realized that they were near and shifted, getting slightly nervous at Tony's undecided decision.
Pretty soon they stopped in front of a property. They both got out and headed near it, they stepped inside it and stopped at the middle in it looking around. They were both silent before Tony spoke "It looked kind of bare," he said with a scrunched nose. "I'm not being sarcastic here but I can't help but ask why here?" Tony said with genuine interest before scrunching his face again, "Why in New Jersey?"
Vision looked around and said, "It's perfectly average," he said softly. "Perfectly normal. Some place where two misfits can be normal, too. Somewhere in which we can belong."
"Huh, is that why Clint has that barn?" Tony questioned to nobody in particular, "Something as far from his whole Katniss thing as possible."
"It..." Tony said looking around and taking a deep breath before speaking, "It looks nice, think you can be happy here?" He said and put his whole attention at Vision. A pit in Vision's robotic body grew and he nodded a bit numbly, figuring out that this is the time where Tony decides.
Tony looked at the property one more putting one hand in his pocket and slapping Vision's back with the other, "Then it's yours," he nodded. Vision's eyes grew and he smiled "r-really," he said not believing his luck, "yeah, why not," he said and smiled at him.
Then he started speaking again and said "obviously it's gonna be a bit hard since she is an enemy of the state but I'll handle it and if she does anything to hurt you I'll-" Tony was cut off by Vision hugging him, he felt Tony stiffened a little before relaxing and hugging him back. Then he pulled away "yeah, okay that's enough." He said smiling, then he pointed at the car, "I'm gonna go before somebody recognizes me, wouldn't want to give Pep another headache," he said and went to the car.
Vision stared at the property once more. Vision's house. He liked the sound of that and looked around imagining Wanda and him living here, growing old together. Living a simple life in the subberbs.
It would be nice to build a home.
Just Wanda and him.
As he thought that he felt the mindstone. Glowing. A slight pain coursing threw his head where the mindstone was.
Almost as if it was warning him of something.
