Golden flowers were glimmering in the semi-darkness, their glow bathing the sleeping figure in a warm almost ethereal light, illuminating and bringing life to the gloomy room.
Even while asleep, flowers bloomed around him.
He was so beautiful it made his heart ache, he should have been there because he wanted, not because he was brought in against his will, but it was too late to go back now.
With a flick of his hand he created floating lights in an attempt to lighten up the place, to make it appear more welcoming and less of a prison.
No, it wasn't a prison, never for him.
He shouldn't have taken him, shouldn't have caressed his face and put him to sleep so he could whisk him away, drag him in the underworld, but he had no choice. At least that was what he told himself, a pointless lie that would definitely cost him more than he could take, but he couldn't bring himself to regret it. Not when he could bask in the peace on the other man’s face as he was lost in pleasant dreams.
I missed you. Your smile, your eyes that show everything you try to hide, the warmth that you radiate, enough to melt even the coldest of hearts… Missed you with a passion I can not describe, your absence made this place hell.
He spoke in his head, not daring to open his mouth and say those words out loud in fear of waking him up, he knew that the moment he would wake up, he'd be angry and he wasn't ready to face that fury.
For a god of spring whose sole purpose was creating, who glowed brighter than the actual sun god, he could have a temper and give everyone such a tongue lashing that would make the scariest god rethink his words and actions.
One of the things I love about him.
That's why I brought you here…
“Tony…” he whispered, allowing for the name to slip past his lips as naturally as a breath, the same name that was on his lips whenever he'd allowed his mind to think of him, the one that wouldn't let him rest even in his dreams where it got mixed up with the memories and the longing that had become a part of him.
In a rare moment of weakness he reached out to gently run his fingertips through Tony’s unruly curls, he tried to do it as softly as a breeze despite the urge to wrap his arms around the other god and hold him close.
I didn't want it to be like this, to take you without asking, without permission. I'm damned…that I couldn't rein in my emotions, that I couldn't control my fear… if you would know maybe you'd ease my fear…my love
“I would do anything to keep you safe and happy…” he whispered, greedily drinking in the sight in front of him, knowing that the peaceful moment wouldn't last.
He could almost feel how Tony melted under his touch when he pressed his hand softly on his cheek, but that was just a product of his imagination.
You might never forgive me, you might hate me and never want to see me, but if I can save you that would be enough.
“I won't let anything bad happen to you, not if I can help it.” he whispered and reluctantly pulled his hand back.
Even if it kills me.
