I Don't Want To Be An Omelette
The group stands in front of a gigantic house.
"Is this what castles on Terra look like?" Ava questions but no one hears her.
"This is yours?" Sean asks impressed.
"No," Charles answers, "It's ours."
"Honestly Charles, I don't know how you survived. Living in such hardship." Eric tells the telepath sarcastically.
"Well, it was a hardship softened by me," Raven says, leaning against Charles who kisses her temple.
Everyone got their own room and they all started training. Ava mainly misses her Jaylah Stick but she didn't want to lose it in battle. Except for her ship, it's the only thing she still has of her family.
Raven and her like to train in the weight room. Ava has a few handles on her ship but not nearly as much as Charles has.
raven is currently lying on a bench and lifting a weight while Ava is doing a little warm up to then train with a baton she found in the training room. It'snot her staff but it will do.
Suddenly Raven's weight flies up into the air.
"If you're using half your concentration to look normal then your only half paying attention to whatever else you're doing, just pointing out something that could save your life" Eric explains, walking into the room.
"Look normal?" Ava asks.
Eric lets the weight drop and as Raven uses all her concentration to catch it, her skin turns blue with the same scaly blue shimmer as it did in the CIA building. Her hair is now red and reaches her shoulders and her eyes have the same color as Ava's do.
Raven looks at Eric who starts talking again. "You want society to accept you but you can't even accept yourself." With that, he turns around to leave.
"What?" Raven asks Ava, who is still looking at her and has stopped warming herself up.
"Is this what you look like?" she asks. Raven looks down. "Why do you change?"
"Wouldn't you like to do that too?" Raven asks.
Ava shakes her head. "Why should I?"
"You-You are white." Raven tries to tell her without offending her.
"And you are blue," Ava says, confused about what Raven is trying to say.
Raven sits up. "Yeah but that's not normal."
"Why? Don't you all have different colors? Charles is pink, Dewon is brown, Azazel is red, you are blue. Where I come from, everyone looks like this," Ava motions at her. "humans are so colorful."
Raven looks at her strange. "What do you-"
"Raven, Ava would you please come to the windows on the east side? We're by the highest ones." Charles interrupts the girls.
Raven turns back to her blond self. "Come on." She says and motions for Ava to follow her.
Both of the women walked up to two windows were the rest of the Team was standing. Eric, Alex, Ava and Raven are squished into one window frame while Sean sits on the second one, Hank and Charles standing next to him.
"Now remember, you need the sound waves to be supersonic." Hank explained to the redhead who looked down nervously, "Catch them at the right angle and they should carry you."
"They should carry me?" Sean looked at Hank who nodded, "That's very reassuring."
"Good luck," Charles said.
Sean let himself fall forward and let out a yelp like a small girl. The Team laughed loudly.
The next day, as Ava was once again in the weight room, this time practicing her skills with the baton, she looks out of the window and sees Hank running around the building.
If someone had told her a week ago that she would be training to help prevent a war, she would have headbutted them and then left them in front of a mental institution.
She continued her training for a few hours and then went to eat something.
As she finally manages to find the kitchen, the others are already eating. "Hello, Ava." Charles smiles. Ava nods and sits down at a free spot at the table. She begins to put some food on her plate and then starts eating.
"So, what did you guys do today?" Raven asks. "Training," the majority of them says in sync. There is a moment of silence, then they all burst out laughing.
Eric, Sean, Charles, Hank, and Ava stand on top of the big satellite.
"I trust you," Sean tells Charles.
"I'm touched."
"I don't trust him," Sean adds, pointing at Hank.
Charles turns his head a bit to Hank and quickly tells him, "Say nothing."
Sean looks down again and points downwards with both his hands, "I'm gonna die!"
"All right. Look, we're not gonna make you do anything you don't feel comfortable with, all right?" Charles tells him, trying to comfort the other mutant.
Before Charles can fully finish his sentence, Eric comes forward, "Here let me help." He pushes Sean of the platform.
"Eric!" Charles yells in panic as Sean is falling faster and faster.
Shortly before he'd land on the ground and be an omelet, Sean uses his power and starts to fly.
"What?" Eric asks Charles with a grin, "You know you were thinking the same."
Charles smiles a little bit and then looks at Ava. "Now you."
"What?" Ava asks.
"Jump."
Ava looks down. A few days ago, when Shaw attacked the CIA base, was the first time she used her powers in free fall. There is no guarantee that she could do it again.
Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Eric approaching her but before he can lay a hand on her, she pushes him off the platform.
Realizing what she's done, she teleports down to him but misses him. She teleports further down and manages to grab his training suit. With the familiar flash of light, she teleports both up again.
Eric pants slightly, his brown hair a mess. "Never...EVER, do that again." He says in-between breaths.
Ava shrugs, "Don't push people off of platforms if you don't want to be pushed too.", and with that, she teleports to her room.
