“Beatrice wake up” a familiar voice said.

I slowly opened my eyes and quickly covered them with with my hand as the rays to sun reached them.

“What is it?” I asked. And looked up to see that Christina had already gotten dressed.

“It’s 7:30 we have to be at room 5A in half an hour so you should get up and get dressed or you will be late”Christina replied.

I sat I my bed for a while and then got up and dressed. We both went to the cafeteria. It was 7:53 by the time we were done

“Let’s go or we will be late” I said.

“Yeah you are right. Let’s go.” Christina said.

We made to room 5A just in time. “You’re here just in time or you would have been factionless. Now take your we will be taking your IQ test first.” Cara said.

“Yes, Cara” both of us said and took a seat in front of one of the computers.

“You will be asked 60 questions and you have 2 hours to answer them all. First 20 question will be east and then they would start to get difficult.” Now you and turn on your computer and get started” Cara explained.

I turned on my computer and started answering the questions. As Cara said the first few were easy and then started getting difficult.

After the first hour of the exam the door opened and someone walked in. I made the mistake to look from my computer screen to person who entered. It was Jeanine Matthews.

“You can go Cara I will take over from here.” Jeanine Said to Cara.

“Yes, Ms Matthews”Cara replied. And went out of the room.

I tried to focus on the screen and my but my gaze kept shifting back to Jeanine. Once she stopped right behind me and I couldn’t even focus on my screen. I think I got that question wrong and what is worse that it was right in front of Jeanine.
I got a few wrong after that I just wasn’t able to focus on the screen.

After the Exam was over Jeanine announced that we are free to do whatever we want. And I first stage will start tomorrow and they will take another IQ test after the initiation.

I decided to go to the library and read for a while. I was just looking for what to read when an Erudite born girl approached me and said “Hi! I am Annabeth. Are you looking for someone to read.”

“I am Beatrice Prior and yes. Can you help me out” I said.

“Sure, what kind of novel do you like?” She asked.

We went on and she helped me pick out some books about serums and other stuff. After picking out our books we sat together at a table and read our book in silence. Both of us were so concentrated in our book that we didn’t even notice Jeanine approach us.

“I see you have made a new friend Annabeth.” Jeanine said. Startling us both.

“Yeah, aunt Jeanine” Annabeth
replied.

“Well, I just wanted to let you know that I will have to eat at the cafeteria tonight because I have some work to do” Jeanine said

“Ok I know how important your jobs” Annabeth replied slightly annoyed.

“Ok so I just leave you two to now. I hope you have fun.” Jeanine said and walked away.

I gave Annabeth a confused look and asked “aunt.”

“Yes, well Jeanine and my mother were cousins, when my mom died because of cancer Jeanine took care of me.” Annabeth explained.

“Oh sorry to hear that but what about your father.” I asked

“I don’t even know him” Annabeth replied.

“Sorry to hear that too” I said.

“Should we go and get lunch?” Annabeth asked

“Yeah, sure Let’s go” I said.

So we went to the cafeteria and chatted after a while Christina Roy (the dauntless)Will joined us.

“So do you live without Jeanine?” I asked annabeth.

“No, I have my own apartment and Jeanine lives in her penthouse.” Annabeth replied.

“Well who would want to live with her anyway. I mean she acts like a complete robot and she is really scary it like she doesn’t have any emotion at all.” Roy said

“Don’t say anything like that about her you don’t even know anything about her. Jeanine is not an emotionless robot she has feelings you know” Annabeth said very annoyed. She stood up and walked away to wards the elevator.

“What happened to her” Roy asked.

“I don’t know but I should go and check on her.” I said and followed Annabeth.

I followed her on to the rooftop. She went there and sat down on the edge. I went and sat next to her. “What’s wrong?” I asked “Is it about what Roy said?”

“It’s just everyone keeps talking about Jeanine like she is an emotionless robot. She wasn’t always like that. They don’t know what happened to her to make her act the way she acts.” Annabeth said.

“I’m sure Jeanine is a good person but what exactly happened to her?” I asked.

“Can’t tell you that that’s her story to tell.” Annabeth said.

“Ok you are right it’s not like it’s any of my business.” I said

We just sat there for a while. Then Annabeth said “ I should be going before my girlfriend gets mad at me”

“Yeah I should be going too” I said.

I got up and went to my room I met Caleb on my way and we decided to study together. He told me Cara said the test will be of some chemicals. So we studied together and then had dinner. After dinner we were reading our our separate books. When someone knocked on our door I went to open the door. And I opened the door I saw that it was Jeanine.

“Yes, Ms Matthews can I help you with anything.”

“Yes actually, I was just taking to annabeth after dinner and she seemed upset about something. She was hanging with you so do you know what happened.” Jeanine asked.

So I explained everything to her carefully leaving Roy’s name out.

“Do you know who was that” Jeanine asked.

“No I don’t know that Ms Matthews.” I lied

“I am the smartest person in this faction don’t you dare lie to me, Beatrice.” Jeanine said slightly annoyed.

“I really don’t know” I said

“Fine if you won’t tell me I will find out my self” Jeanine said

“Will you make him factionless if I tell you?”I asked

“No just tell him very nicely that if makes Annabeth upset ever again he will really regret it. I don’t care what what people say about me but I will not let anyone hurt annabeth she is all I have. And that goes for you to Beatrice I know how you Abnegation can be.” Jeanine said.

“I would never hurt my friends Ms Matthews and what do you mean when you said you know how Abnegation can be” I said

“Oh, you will find out eventually how Abnegation really is like” Jeanine said

And before I could say anything she walked away. I want back to sit with Caleb. “What happened?” Caleb asked “who was it?”

“It was Jeanine” Caleb look wide eyed at that “she wanted to know why Annabeth was upset. She said she wouldn’t make Roy factionless but she was so angry she forgot to actually take his name. I said with a bit of a laugh at the last part.

“I hope so she doesn’t make home factionless. It’s getting late though we should go to bed now”

“Yes I agree” I said and we both went to our separate rooms.
