Erudite

I didn’t want to get off the bus like if I could just skip the ceremony and just live my life how it is now. But I knew that wasn’t an option I have to go to the choosing ceremony and chose a faction.

I am not sure but I think I will choose dauntless and leave abnegation. I didn’t want to leave my family but I will never truly be happy in abnegation. I can’t choose Erudite because Tori said I will most likely get caught and killed if I choose Erudite. So Dauntless is my only option left.

But anyways, I follow my family to the hall. I look around it is a huge hall where all the factions members are. I notice that a woman from Erudite is approaching us. Jeanine Matthews.

“Good morning Andrew” said Jeanine in her robotic voice.

“Good morning Jeanine” Andrew replied in a cold voice.

Our mother turned to us and mouthed “bad blood”

Jeanine turned to us and said “Are these you children?” I didn’t know they would be choosing today.” Then she looked at caleb “What is your name?”

“I am caleb Prior” Caleb introduced him himself and shook Jeanine’s hand.

“And you are?” She asked

I looked up and in her watery grey eyes and everything seemed to stop as I looked in her eyes. Jeanine raised an eyebrow.

“This is Beatrice” Caleb said and then gave me a concerned look.

“Well I wish you all the best for your choosing ceremony and I hope you make the right choice”

“It’s not supposed to be a choice” I suddenly said and regretted it as soon the words were out of my mouth. I don’t know what I was thinking.

“Look I want you to choose where you think you belong and make the right choice it is called the choosing ceremony because you get to choose your faction. I should go now” Jeanine said and walked off.

“Are you ok” Caleb asked in a concerned tone.

“Yes, I am fine Caleb. Let’s go and find a seat.”

“Are you sure? You seem very worried about something”Caleb said.

I didn’t reply to him and just sat down. The ceremony started, Jeanine gave the speech this time. After the speech ended the choosing started.

I zoned out for most of the ceremony but my gaze kept shifting back to Jeanine. I just couldn’t help but look at her beautiful face and watery grey eyes they were just so beautiful.

Jeanine turned and looked at me, I quickly looked away but when I looked back I saw her smirk. I guess now she knows I was staring at her.

“Caleb Prior” Marcus called

My brother went up to the stage took the knife and dropped his blood in to the Erudite bowl.

To say that I was shocked was an understatement. My brother who was a perfect abnegation and always did exactly what an abnegation would do chose Erudite.

I looked at my parents they were shocked as well.

“Beatrice Prior” they called me next.

I walked up to the stage and took the knife Marcus gave me. I cut the palm of my hand and looked at the faction bowls . I raised my hand and walked towards dauntless. I looked up at Jeanine in her grey eyes. Then I don’t know what happened but I heard Marcus say Erudite.
I looked down and saw that I had dropped my blood in the Erudite bowl.

I walked towards my brother and took a seat next to him. I looked towards my parents my mother smiled at me but my father refused to even look at me. I looked at Jeanine Matthews she was looking at me curiously but didn’t approach me or said anything. I zoned out for the rest of the choosing ceremony
