In a Talon Jet with Okoye on their way to Wakanda from Louisiana, Bucky and Sam roast each other in the back of the jet. While Okoye rolls her eyes and says in Xhosa to Ayo, “ What a bunch of children. You think that a man from his time would have more dignity but no, just another white boy soldier. ”
Bucky whips his head around “ I’m right here Okoye.” Bucky understood the Xhosa language after spending time in Wakanda. Sam asks what she said. “She said…'' in a sarcastic tone that is all Bucky “ that I should have more dignity and I'm just another white boy soldier!” “I mean you are just another white boy…..” Sam replied as he chuckled. Bucky groaned, “If you want dignity you can fly me back to 1937. For now you get this.” as he motioned to himself. Okoye laughed as well.
Bucky thought to himself I'm not sure if that guy exists anymore. Sam recognized the look….Steve had it too. Off in distance thought. A man out of time. Sam could understand some of the struggle….being from the military but not the man out of time stuff and the shear torture that his friend went though.
Yes, friend. What a weird few years it’s been. Between the Blip/Snap, saying goodbye to Steve…. getting the boys and Sarah stable, the boat …..Zemo…. Sharon in Madripoor…Bradley, Walker….. . Karli. “Don’t do that…” Sam looked up from the floor of the jet. Bucky shook his head as he said that. Bucky knew that look all too well. Feeling of regret...guilt... what you could have done better or different. “What's done is done.” Bucky said. Sam bowed his head in agreement and accepted his friend’s words.
The Talon jet flies over the Atlantic…Okoye and Ayo get a call from Birin Zana (Golden City)….it was Nomble and Yama. “General….we have a bit of a situation here….best you fly as fast as you can.” Yama said. Okoye tried to ask what was going on… but Nomble added quickly, “ And it’s better if you just get here - it is difficult to explain.” Bucky and Sam were listening very intently. Bucky is able to hear it all due to the serum he received under HYDRA but Sam hears bits….Bucky whispers to Sam “Doesn't sound good..” Sam said “Those calls are usually not good to begin with.” Bucky responded “The Dora Milaje don't fear much but they seem spooked.” “What do you think it is?” Sam asked. Bucky with a smile “ Hopefully not the big three…” Sam looks back almost annoyed” I thought that wasn’t a thing?!” As they stared at each other - one fixed on the other...
Okoye says to Ayo “ See? Children, I tell you!”
Ayo asks, "What are the big three?” Sam and Bucky say at the same time, almost as if it were some sort of competition, “ Androids, aliens and wiz-sorc-…..” Bucky looked at Sam and said “ I thought we clarified that it's sorcerers, not wizards...Strange doesn't even have a hat and looks nothing like Gandalf!” Sam rolls his eyes “ Oh, now we want to be specific all of a sudden?” Sam shook his head and couldn't believe what he just heard but then smirked “ Staring man has a plan?”
Bucky says sentimentally, “ Steve... had a plan….” Ayo glanced back and caught Sam’s eyes as Bucky stared at the back of the jet….Ayo and Sam held the contact for a moment and Ayo realized Okoye was watching her and returned focus to flying the jet.
