Let Your Senses Shine
Clarke senses her before she even opens her eyes. The gentle stroke of a thumb against the smooth skin of her stomach results in a shiver that disperses through her body like a pleasant shockwave. The weight of a toned leg thrown over her own, and the equal but opposite push of the mattress conforming beneath her. The tickle of silken tresses that smell of lavender and eucalyptus against her cheek. The caress of an exhaled breath that travels down the column of her neck, leaving goosebumps in it’s wake. She hopes to wake up this way forever.
As the sleepiness dissipates from her body, Clarke’s ears perk up, taking note of the soundtrack of their bedroom. The mechanical whir of the air conditioner, keeping the temperature just cool enough that her nipples harden beneath her thin cotton nightshirt. She hears a sudden intake of breath, followed by an audible swallow. She knows what’s coming next and she can’t help the smile that breaks across her face in anticipation.
The taste of Lexa’s lips against her own elicits the sweet memory of the night before. The delicate fingers of one hand trace the outline of Clarke’s jaw, then around the sensitive shell of her ear, and eventually get lost in a mess of blonde hair. Meanwhile, the other hand grips her hip tightly and pulls their bodies impossibly closer. Clarke’s head spins like the Earth has suddenly shifted on it’s axis, when the woman who is her whole world positions herself on top of her. Clarke finally opens her eyes to meet the verdant gaze she fell asleep to last night.
Today is a new day and all five of Clarke’s senses are alight. And she is in love. In love with the woman staring back at her with a grin than transforms from saccharine to mischievous. In love with the woman who can simultaneously hold her like she’s the most precious thing on the face of the planet, and completely wreck her as she slides slender fingers beneath the waistband of her panties. In love with the woman who knows exactly how she likes to be touched inside and out and over and over again. She’s in love with the woman who commands her body to come undone with just a whisper of encouragement in her ear. She’s in love with Lexa and she screams out her devotion to the heavens above.
As she lay on her back, chest heaving, Clarke floats back down from her high. Her senses are both heightened and overstimulated, but her body is sated and boneless. For the second time that morning, Clarke opens her eyes to the vision of Lexa, and she suddenly finds new meaning in the phrase “Rise and Shine.”
