Chapter 2

Tony found out he was pregnant when he was sixteen, just a few months shy of his seventeenth birthday.

He woke up one stupid school morning and rushed to the bathroom to make it to the toilet in time to throw up. The genius’ mind immediately went to pregnancy, because holy shit morning sickness and when was the last time he’d had his heat and HOLY SHIT WAS HE PREGNANT?

Luckily the vomiting didn’t last long and he was able to get ready for school. No need to raise suspicions and stay home, the challenge was to get to school without talking to anyone.

Avoiding both his parents, Jarvis and his wife Anna was a difficult task, but he knew if they tried talking to him he’d spill the beans. He thanked Tesla that the hallways were empty.

And he wasn’t even sure yet, he thought as he got in his car and drove to a far away convenience store.

He probably wasn’t pregnant, he told himself repeatedly as he put on sunglasses and a hat to buy a pregnancy test.

Definitely not pregnant, he thought as he chugged the water he had also purchased and made his way to the fast food chain next door to use their bathroom.

Those thoughts, though on loop in Tony’s mind, did not convince him. And neither did the smug little happy face that appeared on the stick after one hundred and twenty agonizing seconds.

Holy shit. He was going to kill Tiberius.

If his parents didn’t kill him first.

He would need to see a doctor to be absolutely sure, but holy fuck...looks like he’s pregnant.

What the fuck was he supposed to do?

He decided to get a cup of coffee and ditched school for the day. He’d use the voice app in his phone to call the school in a bit and use his Dad’s voice to say Tony was sick for the day.

But right now, Tony just pulled over and cried in a parking lot until his coffee turned cold.

A few days later, and after several more tests, he decided to put on his big boy pants and tell Ty. What he expected, he wasn’t sure. But it wasn’t for Tiberius Stone, who’d been his boyfriend for almost two years, to up and move to Europe. The fucking coward.

Tony wanted a tall glass of scotch so badly, but instead decided to bite the bullet and tell his parents as well.

Maybe they would kill him, put him out of his misery.

He told them both he needed to speak with him, waiting in the dining room until they joined him, with his father not surprisingly arriving last and in a huff.

“Make it fast, Tony, I’ve got a few contractors I need to call back,” his father said before sitting at the head of the table.

“Okay, well...I’m...I’m just going to say it…”

“Is this about you liking Alphas and Omegas? Cause I’m pretty sure we had this conversation three years ago,” Howard cut him off, clearly annoyed that Tony called this meeting.

“No, Dad, that’s not it…”

“Anthony?” Mama prompted him kindly, giving Tony the courage to spit it out.

“I’m pregnant,” Tony said, unable to fight the tears in his eyes. He was dreading this and how they would react. What if they abandoned him like Ty had done?

His mother burst into tears, catching Tony a little off guard and unable to stop more tears from spilling down his cheeks. His father sat stoically and stared off at a wall, silent.

“That Stone kid the father?” Howard asked after a moment.

“Yeah, told him yesterday. He...his family sent him to a school in Europe.”

“Jesus how’d you pick such a spineless Alpha?” his Father spat out at him.

“I’m sorry,” Tony choked out, feeling humiliation and shame wash over him. His father’s company had just started to take off, and he knew what would happen if something like this leaked to the press. Which is why the next words leaped out of his mouth. “Dad if you can help me find a doctor we can have it... ‘taken care of.’”

He had considered abortion right from the start, but something had kept him from it until now.

His father took a deep breath in and out before turning to fully address Tony.

“I have a friend of a friend who can help. I’ll give him a call,” Howard said in a low voice, disappointment and anger evident in his tone.

“You will do no such thing!” Maria snapped at the two, making the older Alpha and younger Omega flinch back from her outburst. His Mom rarely went against his Dad, but on the rare occasion that she did - her way always trumped everyone else’s.

“Maria…”

“No Howard. There will be no such thing done under my roof. You will not commit such an act against our Lord, Howard. I will not allow it!”

“We could arrange an adoption, make sure it goes to a nice family,” Howard offered, the Alpha quieting significantly from his Omega’s tone.

“And know I have a grandbaby out there? Living in a world where their family abandoned them?”

“Mama,” Tony said quietly. “I’m sixteen, I’m not ready to have a kid.”

“Bambino,” his Mama said, voice filled with both sadness and ire, “if you’re grown up enough to commit adult acts, then you’re grown up enough to face the consequences of those acts.”

“God dammit just as my company is taking off...Fine, we will need to pull him from school, hire him a tutor…” Howard started talking, laying out the next steps in Tony’s life as the teen spaced off. There was a ringing in his ears as he stared at a spot on the floor - disbelief and fear coursing through his body.

He would have to drop out of school? What about his future? Do they really think he can do this on his own? Were they even going to let him stay here? What if they kicked him out?

“Breathe, Tony. We are not kicking you out,” his father said more gently than he’d ever heard him, a firm hand on his shoulder bringing him back to the present and realizing he’d said those things out loud.

He looked up into his father’s eyes, feeling just a little less stressed about everything.

“Thanks, Dad,” Tony said quietly, warmth filling him until Howard opened his mouth again.

“I had such high hopes for you, Anthony. I knew when you presented as an Omega this world would be hard for you. I guess I was just hoping you’d use what’s in your head rather than what’s between your legs…” That was a gut punch for Tony, watching in silence as his parents left the room together. He collapsed back onto the couch behind him and let himself cry.

A few minutes later he heard feet approaching, looking up to see Jarvis looking down at him with a smile. His parents weren’t as forthcoming with physical signs of love, but Jarvis and his wife always were. He reached his hands out and Jarvis immediately pulled him into his arms, cuddling with him on the couch.

“What am I going to do Jarvis? I’m not ready to have a baby,” Tony cried into his pseudo-father’s arms. The Beta rubbed the teen’s back before placing a gentle kiss on his head.

“You’re going to do the same thing you did when you were four, Master Tony. You shocked yourself when you were playing with some circuit boards and you picked yourself up and kept going. And you will do the same thing this time. You’re going to pick yourself up and persevere, my boy. Your parents are upset, but they love you and won’t let you go through this alone. Neither will Anna or I.” He stayed in his butler’s arms, crying his eyes out until he did the exact thing Jarvis said he would.

He picked himself up and persevered.

Over the next few months, his parents gave him the cold shoulder and found themselves suddenly busy flying all over the world. But Tony didn’t let that bring him down. He graduated in less than six weeks, which was two years off his old classmates. He even loved his tutor, a twenty one year old Beta intern from his dad’s job that instantly clicked with Tony.

Bruce even helped him begin studying in college classes, though they often argued mechanical engineering versus biomedical being the better major.

His nesting instincts kicked in around the sixth month, when he completely remodeled his room. Anna and Jarvis both relentlessly teased him, but it was all in good fun. They even let Rhodey come stay for the last month, the Alpha teen making sure he took suppressants so Tony didn't have an early labor.

The birth itself was as gross and painful as everyone made it out to be. Rhodey and Jarvis held his hands as Anna - a certified midwife - helped deliver the baby. And when Tony held that little boy for the first time in his arms - he knew he’d love and protect this kid with every ounce of his being.

Tony decided on Harlan James Stark, his son’s middle name a nod to the pup’s godfather. The baby had blonde hair and blue eyes, much to the godfather’s disappointment, but was healthy and that was all Tony was concerned about.

He was perfect except for the constant screaming. Tony didn’t sleep the first seven days of his son’s life. Too scared that something would happen to him and unable to sleep for the half-hour increments Harley decided to shut his eyes and stop screaming.

It was on the eighth day that Tony woke up assuming he had gone deaf. He was...also well rested. The Omega jerked himself awake, sitting up in bed and rushing over to his son’s bassinet, only to find it empty.

Alright, calm down. Someone in the house took him. Someone decided to finally let Tony catch up on his much needed sleep

He made his way down to the kitchen where he found Jarvis cleaning.

“Jay, have you seen my baby? About eight pounds, cute as hell and loud as all get out?” Tony sleepily asked the butler. The old man smiled before turning to the teen.

“You may want to check your father’s study, Master Tony.” What was Anna doing with Harley in his father’s study? he wondered as he made his way to the office his dad works in. What he saw instead made him stop in his tracks.

There was Harley, cooing softly in the arms of his father - who Tony wasn’t even aware was back yet. Howard was cradling the baby and standing near the mantle donned by family pictures.

“This is Anthony when he was a baby. Your colorings are different, but I can see him in your nose and pudgy little face. Your Mama was a cute baby, just like you.”

“Daddy,” Tony corrected him, smiling when his father turned towards him with a quirked brow. “I’m going by Daddy. I figured I could pick my name if I’m doing both jobs,” he finished with a shrug before walking over to the two.

“Huh, never been one to follow tradition,” Howard mumbled to himself, though there was a small smile on his face.

“When did you guys get back?” Tony asked, content with watching his father play with his son’s fingers.

“This morning. Your mother is out shopping with Anna for baby stuff. She wanted to let you sleep in so she grabbed him and didn’t put him down until I suggested a shopping trip. She tried taking him with her but I said as a new Omega mother you’d freak out if Harley wasn’t home when you woke up,” his father explained with a serious expression before it melted and he spoke softly, “It was the only way I could get to hold my grandson.”

“I wasn’t even sure you’d like him,” Tony said honestly, walking over to sit in his Dad’s chair.

“He’s an innocent baby. It’s not his fault his Daddy is a dummy,” Howard said as he shot Tony a smirk. The teen deflated a little in contentment, the fear that his parents would want nothing to do with either of them slowly fading away. “With the worst taste in Alphas.”

“I can only apologize for him so many times, Dad,” Tony said with a smile, aware his Dad was just teasing him at this point. The smile faded from Howard’s face that made Tony’s disappear as well.

“Regardless, you won’t need to worry about him anymore. He signed away his rights.”

“What?” Tony asked in shock as he watched his father walk over to the small couch and sit with Harley still in his arms. “What are you talking about?”

“I...ran into him in Europe. Had my lawyer draw up some papers in case Tiberius NoStones wanted to come back into your life and try to ruin it.”

“Holy shit. Is that where you went? To find him?”

“Oh please,” Howard said with a scoff. “That took a few minutes, I did actually have business around the world. Plus took your Mother to Italy to visit your Nonna, she’s getting better, by the way. The little Stone shit was just a detour in our travels. A successful detour that involved intimidating a punk little Alpha…” Tony absorbed that information with a satisfied smile on his face.

“Wow...thanks, Dad,” Tony said sincerely as he heard his stomach growl.

“I can keep holding this one for a few more minutes. Why don’t you go get something to eat before your Mom gets home?” Tony took a moment to look at the two a moment longer, his Dad who was rarely affectionate smiling and holding his sleeping son. Now aware he was partially being selfish, in that the grandfather loved holding his grandson.

But he took that opportunity to take the offer, walking towards the kitchen with warmth in his chest.

As years passed, the young father and son eventually moved out on their own. Harley grew and Tony focused on helping his father build his weapons empire. Tony was pretty damn good as the head of the R&D department too, but knew deep down he could never officially take over his father’s company. No Omega could legally own a fortune five-hundred company. If he got married, he could help run it alongside his Alpha, but that was a big IF.

That’s not to say he didn’t start dating again. He just didn’t necessarily think he’d find a father for Harley. A few lasted long enough to meet Harley, but most backed away when they realized Tony came with extra baggage.

All of that flew out the window when he met Steve Rogers. A tall, blond and gorgeous Alpha who was kind and shy. What he first thought would at least be the most amazing one night stand turned into running into the same Alpha again in the park. He had felt horrible for leaving without a note, but his Mama had called and said Harley was going to the hospital.

Tony was only focused on his son, not listening fully and kicking himself later when his Mom assured him Harley’s fever wasn’t even hospital worthy - just that Nonna was being precautious.

But then he saw him running in the park!

And he was kind and forgiving and didn’t run away when he saw Tony had a six year old with him. Or when he apparently understood French and heard Rhodey making fun of Tony for talking about the Alpha’s cock size.

They’ve been texting for a few days now, and Tony has never felt this way about...well, anyone.

Steve was funny and charming. And sweet. He suggested a picnic in the park for their first date - even invited Harley along. But as much as he loved his son, Tony wanted adult time. So instead he dropped Harley off at Rhodey’s so they could go back to Tony’s after dinner. Steve chose an Italian restaurant and ended up with some marinara sauce on his chin that Tony restrained himself from licking off.

He instead used his thumb and stuck that in his mouth, giving the blonde a taste of where the night was leading. It had the Alpha waving a waitress down for the check, which had the Omega laugh in delight.

They could barely keep their hands off each other on the way back, starting to undress in Tony’s living room and finishing in his bedroom. There were three rounds total, each one as mind blowing as the last. Tony lay there panting after the third, sighing when the knot deflated enough for Steve to pull out.

“Holy shit I think I’m in love,” Steve blurted out, face red when Tony turned to him incredulously. It wasn’t like the brunette wasn’t thinking the same thing, so he let out a laugh that the blonde quickly joined in on. “I just...I’ve never felt this...connection with anyone else. Ever.”

“No I...I feel it too. This just feels, weirdly right,” Tony said quietly, his turn to blush as he felt the gentle hands of the blonde turn his face towards him.

“Good. In this together, then,” Steve said before leaning forward to kiss him. It was soft and chaste, the Alpha pulling back before cuddling the Omega close and resting his lips against his neck. It wasn’t quite near the gland, but it was close enough to send a shiver down Tony’s spine.

When he thought about the possibility of bonding with Steve...he didn’t hate the idea.

In fact he often daydreamed about it.

After Steve left and Rhodey dropped off Harley, he spent the day helping his pup build legos and dreaming of what it would be like to raise Harley with someone.

It was such a different feeling than when he’d considered this six years ago with Ty. Well, when Ty had still been an option. His ex wasn’t anywhere near perfect, but the fleeting feeling of not being alone to raise the pup had put hope in Tony’s heart. Of course, the Alpha had squashed that when he upped and moved to Europe.

He can still remember the Alpha’s face when he told him.

The fear and utter disgust that also came off his scent in waves had the Omega recoil back as if he’d been slapped. The words that came from the lips he had once loved kissing, insinuating that this was somehow Tony’s fault had crushed his soul.

He knew Ty was a higher class than he was, his parents coming from old money that vastly outdid Tony’s mother’s old money. Howard had come from humble beginnings, but married up when he’d asked for Maria’s hand in marriage and used some of her money to start his company.

The Stones had never approved of Tony anyway. Even though Tony lived comfortably, they saw him as less than. So it wasn’t entirely surprising when they’d paid for Ty to bow out and leave the country.

But he didn’t need to worry about that now. Not only had he raised Harley by himself for six years, but he may have found someone that he could actually depend on.

An Alpha who didn’t think with his knot. One who saw he had a pup and instead of running away, had called his boy ‘cute.’ Even suggested their first date be the three of them.

Tony continued thinking about Steve even when they finished building a lego tower that Harley immediately destroyed pretending to be Godzilla.

Wondering if maybe, just maybe, Steve could fit into the mold of a family Tony had created.
