Steve son of...Loki?!
They failed.
Vecna won, the upside down has eaten their world.
Steve couldn't protect the kids...even with his new...features.
Steve was affected by upside down due to how often he's been biten by the creatures from it. He's got a little bit of everything now.
Physically he looks normal but he can transform when angry (claws, sharper teeth, wings, full demogoron face if he's lost in his anger)
He also gained the ability to make holes in dimensions to travel through.
He does like warmth still but he prefers cold and will pass TF out if the Temps stay in the 90's to long.
He eats more than he used to.
His body is still new to these powers and the powers are changing his body.
Steve is grieving and attempts to kill Vecna, or be killed by him, only to get thrown across the upside down so hard that his new powers act up and he slips into a whole new dimension.
This portal is different since it's a whole different dimension with its own set of rules. The portal breaks Steve's body down while his new powers try to put him back together.
By the time he makes it through to the other dimension he's essentially de-aged to a young child (looking at least 8-10).
He's covered in blood and wounds (his scars kept opening and healing throughout the whole process). He somehow still has a hold of his signature nailbat. His clothes are beyond repair.
He is found by Loki, set long before the first Thor movie, who takes one look at this wounded and traumatized child and says "yeah this is mine now, I'm going to have to murder whomever did this"
Steve's freaking out but also depressed because he's the only one left. He's also not used to affection so Loki has his work cut out for him.
Loki decides to make a life in Midgard so his new child can grow up away from the bullshit of Asgard. He does regular trips to and from each world. He hasn't told anyone about Steve.
Loki also helps Steve work through his new powers and is working to convince him that just because he can transform partially doesn't make him a monster.
It takes a while but Steve accepts his new life, actually finds that he likes having Loki as a parent.
When the first Thor movie happens Loki didn't let go of the staff, he legitimately slipped.
He had written about his son in his journal, about his personality and trauma, about his struggle with his powers but nothing in detail, but unfortunately didn't name where his son is.
Frigga is the one who read it and uses it as ammunition against her husband [in front of the whole court and peasants who were nearby]. Stuff like "our son didn't even trust us with our grandson" "we were so terrible he felt the need to protect his child from US"
This is also how Thor finds out how shitty his friends were to his brother.
When the events of the Avengers movie starts the news catches Loki doing his whole "kneel" thing only to get interrupted by this smol child with a nailbat.
Steve comments about Loki's eyes and basically screams "get out my dad's head!" Before knocked Loki the fuck out with the nailbat.
This clues the world (later on), shield, and the Avengers in on Loki being mind controlled.
Stevie agreed to go with Tony, Steve, and Natasha in the jet with an unconscious Loki. When Thor shows up Stevie clocks him in the jaw before he can even try to grab Loki. Thor is pissed but kinda freaks out when Stevie comments about him not touching his dad.
Thor is clued in on the mind control while everyone talks on the jet and he turns into a hurt puppy because Stevie won't let him come close.
Loki wakes up just as they're wheeling him into the helicarrier and he's shooting up calling for his kid. Cue the tearful reunion between them.
[Tony may or may not call Steve little badass since he walks around with his nailbat]
Whether or not shield tries to keep them captive or not Loki tells them all about who sent him and why. They're prepared for the attack on the carrier and Barton is clued in on everything. He's pissed but remembers how Loki looked and acted as compared to how he is now.
They don't get to Stark Tower in time before the portal opens. Aside from Loki fighting alongside them while trying to make Stevie stay inside (it doesn't work, he's out fighting, using powers to get people out of falling buildings and stuff) the rest is Canon.
Thor tries to convince Loki to go home with him along with Stevie but neither want to. Thor tries to use the whole crimes against Asgard thing only for Stevie to ask the right questions and end up proving that Loki was TECHNICALLY not committing crimes but Thor's friends were (hence the big machine being sent).
Thor ends up going home alone. Tony invites everyone to live with him in his tower. Loki hesitatingly agrees because their original home was destroyed in the invasion.
Once the Avengers are all together in the tower at some point questions are asked about Stevie. Loki tells the truth that he knows and admits that he hasn't been told all of it yet.
Stevie trying out the hobbies of his friends/the gang because he misses them. (Dnd is more fun than he thought and it turns out he can sing pretty well guitar is still a work in progress)
Everyone kinda knows Stevie is from a fucked up place but he keep casually dropping comments about even more things. (Monsters, mind control, russians)
It isn't until a really bad day that Stevie is being comforted by Loki as he tells him about his world, his friends, and the man that took everything from him.
[JARVIS may or may not have shared video of this with the others]
The addition of Stevie changes how Canon goes for the better. If the Avengers (or just Loki) try to open a portal to his original world to get rid of a certain skinned grinch looking guy that's up to you.
This is basically me taking everything from Stevie and giving him a whole new found family afterwards along with extra trauma.
Have fun
