Marvel Story ideas/ mostly Tony Stark story ideas [Prompts]

I actually began to write this one years ago but never finished. This was around the time the winter solder came out, but I'm mixing in a little bit of the other movies to add to what I had already made. I had a vague plot set up but that's as far as I got before writer's block attacked.

Uses comic version of Howard which involves drinking, abuse, and him being a major asshole. Just warning you.

This also makes mcu steve more like comic steve....or what i can remember of it, it's been a while.

When Tony Stark was a child he loved stories about the Howling Commandos but not because of Captain America, much to his father's mild irritation.
No Tony loved to hear about Bucky Barnes, the smart mouthed sniper.

During this age, around 3-6 years old, he was mostly taken care of by Edwin and Ana Jarvis. Knowing his love of Barnes Ana decides to make him his very own Bucky Bear. She fixes up the suit to match the one Bucky wore and even made a knitted sniper gun to rest in the bears hand.

Tony loves his bucky bear but Howard does not. His son is too old for baby toys. Tony hides his bear every time Howard's drinking binge turns into his rage nights.

On Howard's worst nights Tony takes the bear and hides with it. He also cuddles it for comfort on the bad times when Howard actually hits him.

After one of the times Howard hit Tony (in the face) he hides away with his bear. However while he was crying his bear began to feel warm and grow. Suddenly Tony is hugging THE Bucky Barnes from the war. Bucky has no idea what happened, one minute he is being tortured by Hydra and the next he is in a cabnet holding a crying kid with a bruised up face.

Tony is shocked but is young enough that he doesn't automatically think something is wrong when his hero suddenly appears. In his head his bear is there to protect him just like Ana said he would. Bucky of course is weirded out and thinks this is a hydra trick/hallucination. He goes with it though because the kid obviously needs someone to look after him.

Over time his visits continue, he always holds and comforts Tony, treats his cuts and bruises, and finally convinces Tony to tell him what is really going on. (Tony has already been conditioned to hide the abuse/doesn't want his hero to know how much of a coward he is.(he isn't but he's a little kid and thinks he is) )

Bucky has been telling Steve about the weird visits between missions (mostly because Steve walked into Bucky's tent to talk and saw Bucky literally vanish. He freaks out but is also worried that going to someone else will make Bucky into a test subject if they find out. So he waited for Bucky to come back and made him explain.)

Bucky has told Steve about little Tony and how often he is covered in bruises and cuts because of his dad. He tells him how smart the little guy is. He tells him how Tony made a dog for himself and how amazingly real it was...then tells him after the next visit that the kid's dad destroyed it. Steve is glad the kid has Bucky because the more he learns the more he realizes the kid has no one but adults around him that hide the abuse and don't help him.

When Bucky comes back again Steve has to stop him from running out of the tent in a rage. It is here that Steve finds out just WHO Tony's dad is.

Howard Stark

No clue how that is, some strange time travel?

Things fall apart soon after, Bucky falls, Steve crashes the plane, Tony's hero doesn't come back the same as he was before.

Tony is horrified when the next time Bucky comes he is hurt. Bucky's arm is gone and he has been captured by Hydra.

Each time he comes back he remembers less and less until each visit had Tony telling him,

"My name is Tony, You're name is Bucky. You're one of my only friends and you used to take care of me. I'll take care of you till you're better."

So everytime the Winter solder arrives Tony cleans any wounds and makes it so his arm doesn't hurt anymore. He may not remember who he was, or anything beyond hydra really, but this?
This little boy who shows more care than anything in his life is something he will protect. This little boy's safety will be his number one priority, the mission he must never fail.

Every time they wipe him he may forget the boy but his subconscious never lets him hurt him.

Time passes and Tony gets older, he thinks maybe the visits are in his head...a way for his mind to stay sane. Not that he minds, he likes having someone to take care of, someone who doesn't dislike him just because of who he is. (At this point Ana and Edwin Jarvis have passed away. Tony had A.I.'s written down to make later in honor of them)

When Hydra wakes the soldier and gives him the mission to kill Howard it feels it too good to be true. His head brings up images of little Tony with bruises and cuts. It's so easy to hit the man. He cannot stop himself from saying the words, "This is for Tony" before bashing the mans head into the stirring wheel. (In this version, Tony's mom passed away before this. Possibly due to a pill addiction, or maybe just sickness idk)

It is only one day later that he visits Tony again. Tony says nothing at first, just looks at him and asks.

"Was it you?"

The soldier only nods. Tony cries and laughs but mostly cries before hugging him.

Time passes with no visits needed, Tony thinks maybe the death of Howard (and his mind creating a killer to make it more a revenge kill than just his drunkenness) made it where he no longer needed it.

[Please note that you can decide if he still became a weapons engineer or went another route due to Buckys influence.]

Winter appears in Tony's home while he is captured by the ten rings and has no idea what to do. Jarvis takes note of him and the story Tony talks about and knows his creator is in trouble when the man appears.
(Bucky/winter appears where ever the bear is)

When Tony returns home everything moves too fast for Jarvis to really have the opportunity to mention buckys appearance. (Bucky disappeared again when Tony was found)
Then the arc reactor poisoning him has Jarvis' priority.

Needless to say Tony doesn't find out that the Bucky that visited him was real until he gets a visit one day.

You see when Steve wakes up and finds himself in the future he decides to see if the kid bucky visited was real. It is then that Steve see's Tony does exist.
He sneaks away from Shield agents and goes to California. Tony is thrown off by Jarvis saying a dead man is at the door.

Tony doesn't get the chance to talk when he opens the door. Steve blurts out,

"Bucky knew you and I know about how bad Howard was to you."

This is when Tony finds out it wasn't all in his head....and it is also when he tells Steve that Bucky is in danger.

Now I was going to have this be Tony helping Steve understand the future without Shiledra blindfolds and them saving Bucky.

When the avengers are pulled together they had already used steath to steal Bucky and Bucky is at the tower when loki arrived. Bucky knows brainwashing when he see's it and has already bashed Loki's head before Tony arrives. He helps avengers out, hydra is revealed in sheild. Both Brooklyn boys are terrified to see their friend fly a nuke to space. The day is saved and all that jazz.

If anyone wants to take this they can
