The animal was enormous: huge and scaly, with pointy antlers crowning a grotesque head.

Tony Stark swallowed. ‘That’s a baby?’ he asked.

‘Yes,’ Loki, who was standing next to him, replied. ‘The only way to domesticate bilgesnipes is to adopt them when they’re very young.’

‘Honey, I’m worried about Gerald.’

But the alpaca was already rubbing his neck against those antlers and the bilgesnipe growled.

‘She’s purring,’ Loki said, sounding sentimental.

‘You get soppy over this?’ Tony asked incredulously. ‘Whoa.’

‘Would you like me to guard them tonight?’

‘I’ll join you,’ Tony promised and smiled as Loki squeezed his hand.
