A totally average day
Hunter awoke to a beeping sound, paired with a body hitting the floor.
His eyes opened to see Luz’s feet up in the air, hands over the bottom bunk, and the other over her head, which was planted in the floor.
“Hey luz… are you good?”
Luz responded with a grunt and a thumbs up.
Hunter chuckled at the human ridiculous response.
Luz got up from her fall and proceeded to turn off the alarm clock. Vee also got up from her bed, steading herself against Luz’s shoulder.
“Hey Luz, I'm going to steal your yellow hoodie today, sorry.” Vee muttered half-heartedly.
“Yeah mk, Hunter we gotta go get dressed for Hexside.” Luz threw an arm out to gesture to come and follow.
Hunter hummed in response.
Hunter entered the guest bathroom. He brushed out his hair. He had felt free growing it out. In the emperor's coven. Belos always had it cut short, to resemble his brother.
He looked at the mirror, while he traced his scars with his fingers.
The skin around was still dimpled around the edges of the scars from Belos.
Hunter rummaged through the small leather box he had that kept his earrings. Earlier this summer he had his ears pierced. One ear had the earlobe, the latter had an earlobe and cartilage piercing. Eventually Hunter had finally settled on two different colored cat faces, one being black with gold accents while the other one was white with gold accents, with a gold chain that connected to a little black heart. Hunter then threw his hair up in a low ponytail.
All three teens came down the stairs to smell Camilia’s empanadas.
The fluffy egg and cheese goodness was set down on the table with toast and raspberry jam.
“How are my fine children this morning?” Camila asked as she sat down, while passing out small mugs with hot cocoa.
Hunter pulled out Luz’s and Vee’s chair, then went to grab his own.
Luz had long ago given up trying to get Hunter to stop being so … prim.
Hunter had some silly chivalric habits, including but not limited to; pulling out chairs for everyone, getting frustrated when he isn't the first to do a chore, trying to complete all the household duties, holding the door until everyone is done, and making sure that he is the last in bed.
“I slept like a bat last night.” groaned Luz.
Hunter stared at Luz perplexedly. “But… bats don't sleep at night Lu- oh.”
Don't tell him, but Hunter isn't the best at metaphors and similes.
They ate in silence.
Hunter was first to finish, after asking permission to be excused from the table, Hunter washed dishes and whistled to O’Bailey, (his palisman) The small gray wolf skidded over and turn into his staff form. Luz tapped on Stringbean’s head (Stringbean had been resting around Luz’s neck) and she transformed into her staff form as well. Hunter handed out everyone's backpacks.
Luz had hugged Camila goodbye, soon to be followed by Hunter, while Vee had settled for a wave as Vee headed out to Gravesfield High School.
Hunter closed the door, then followed Luz to the portal house.
The cabin in the woods had served as a good portal area. It has a couple of guest rooms, with tons of storage space, with a portal in the basement!
