When Pietro finally returned, he was holding a glass of water in his left hand and a small white pill in the other. He handed her both.
"Thanks.", she whispered softly, giving him a small but grateful smile. He just smiled back and sat down next to her bed again.
While he watched her swallow the pill, he ran his hands over his thighs nervously. "So... Was it that dream again?", he asked carefully.
She sighed and nodded. "Yeah..."
Wanda sounded exhausted even though she'd just slept for 48 hours straight. After emptying the rest of her glass she reached forward and put it on her nightstand.
"Did you ask her why she showed it to you again?", her brother asked, although he already knew the answer to that.
Wanda simply nodded.
"What did she say?", Pietro asked.
Wanda sighed, though this time it was because she was annoyed by having this conversation again and again and again-
"The same as always, Pietro.", she snapped, immediately regretting it when he lowered his gaze and mumbled a small "Sorry".
She took his hand in hers. "No, I'm sorry. You did nothing wrong.", she said with a small smile. "I'm just getting tired of this dream and well... her.", she added, knowing that he would understand who she meant.
There was a few moments of silence before her brother spoke up again.
"Do you think she is who matka (mother) warned you about?"
Wanda turned her head to look at him. "Probably.", she answered, clearly not wanting to think about it anymore. He understood the message, kissing the back of her hand.
Deciding that a topic change would be good for his sister he spoke up again:"What should we do now? You know... With the Avengers?"
She smiled, appreciating his efforts to distract her. "You know what?", she finally said, smirking and standing up. "We can talk about this after you've had some proper sleep."
Pietro just rolled his eyes. "I'm not tired.", he said unconvincingly, clearly not ready to let his little sister be the responsible one.
She scrunched her nose and stood up from her bed. "Liar.", she said while he layed down, rolling his eyes again.
"Who's going to protect you while I sleep?", he asked more serious now. No matter how exhausted he felt, her safety would always come first.
There was a small pause in which neither of them said anything before Wanda started tugging him into bed, just like their mother used to do.
"I don't think they want to hurt us.", she answered truthfully. "But what if you're wrong?", he asked as stubborn as always.
"I can protect myself, Piet, just go to sleep.", she half-laughed, kissing his head. "But what if-", he started again but she cut him off this time.
"If there should be any danger headed towards me, I'll just let her take over.", she said. "Now stop worrying please. I'll be okay."
He sighed but let it go. He knew that she was capable of taking care of herself and that he needed the sleep. So finally he mumbled one last "ľúbim ťa. (I love you.)" before falling asleep.
Wanda smiled, watching her brother sleep peacefully for a few minutes longer. She hadn't seen him this relaxed in a very long time, so she wanted to cherish the moment.
Eventually she got up, walked towards the door and left him to sleep in her bed. After closing the door as silently as possible, she looked around the big hallway.
Where should she go to? She knew that she and her brother would have to talk to the Avengers sooner or later but Wanda didn't feel like talking.
Finally she had an idea, looking up at the wall hesitantly before calling out: "Jarvis?"
It felt strange talking to the air and for a second she felt stupid because of trying but then the familiar voice responded. "How can I be of service, Miss Maximoff?"
"Does this tower have a roof?", she asked.
"Yes, it does. Would you like me to navigate you there?", he asked and she nodded before realizing that he might not see her right now. She had yet to find out where all the security cameras were.
"Yes please."
