Pepper walked out to the hallway and took her phone out. Tony is just way too proud but at this point, they need to do this. It’s 3 am. The phone was ringing for a while then Pepper’s ear was filled with loud music.
“Hello?” Pepper raised her voice and walked further away from the bedroom.
“This is Thor, God of Thunder and Pina Coladas,” he was yelling so loud she had to hold the phone away.
“Hey, Thor. It’s Pepper. Is Loki around?”
“Yes, give me a second,” while she waited, she could hear some Abba playing in the background. ‘Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight’
“What is it?” someone spoke on the phone. The voice didn’t sound like Loki but the tone definitely did.
“I am really sorry to bother you, but Morgan had a nightmare and she refuses to go to sleep. We tried to calm her down but she says she wants you.”
“We are on our way,” Pepper wanted to say thank you but the call ended. Tony walked out of Morgan’s room with an exhausted look on his face.
“I told you I can handle it,” he was annoyed.
“Well, is she willing to go to sleep?” Pepper put her hands on her hip.
“Is Loki coming?” Morgan appeared in the doorway next to Tony. Pepper rolled her eyes and bent down to her daughter.
“Yes, sweetheart.”
A few minutes later they heard loud thunder from outside and the lightning flashed in front of the window.
“We have arrived,” they heard Thor’s musky voice from the opening elevator. Tony and Pepper went down to the hall but stopped in their steps. Thor had a long blonde wig on, high heels and a red cocktail dress. He stumbled out of the elevator. Next to him, a woman walked out. Unlike Thor, she was rocking her heels with full confidence. As she came up to them her hips were slightly rocking from side to side. She was wearing a metallic green, bodycon dress. Her hair was raven black and was held up by a gold headband.
“Where is Morgan?” she asked.
“Who would you be?” Tony couldn’t hold it back and looked up and down checking her out.
“Loki,” Morgan exclaimed and run to her between her parents. Tony’s jaw dropped.
“Hey princess,” Loki kneeled down and caught the little girl in a big hug.
“I knew he could change his looks but this is new,” Tony turned to Thor.
“Daddy, it’s she or they right now,” Morgan looked up from the hug. Pepper chuckled.
“We came as soon as we could,” Thor said as he took off his heels. “Loki took me out for a ladies night,” Tony’s eyebrows were riding high and was looking from one Asgardian to the other.
“Your make-up is really nice,” Morgan smiled at Thor. “You are getting really good at it,” she said to Loki as they stood up from their hug.
“I had a great teacher,” she winked at her. There could be no confusion that it was indeed the Goddess of Mischief. “I heard there was a sleep emergency.”
“There is a monster under my bed,” she said quietly and grabbed Loki’s hand.
“I checked for her but she won’t go to bed,” Tony inserted.
“Monsters are my speciality,” she smirked at Tony and nudged Morgan gently towards the bedroom. Pepper, Tony and Thor followed them. Loki laid Morgan down on her bed. “What did we say princesses do with monsters?” she asked as she tucked the little girl in.
“They slay the monsters or befriend them and make them their minions,” Morgan recited. Tony let out a slight whimper but Pepper pocked him with her elbow. “But I can’t slay them when I am asleep and this one doesn’t seem like the friendly kind.”
“That is alright. I will help,” she brushed a bit of her out of her face. “Thor is the greatest warrior in the nine realms, he shall stand guard in front of your chamber.”
“No monsters get through me,” Thor held his hand out and Mjolnir flew into it.
“This might be scary but it will be fine,” Loki turned to Pepper and Tony.
“There is no monster under the bed,” Tony said with knitted eyebrows. He could barely finish his sentence when Loki turned into a huge black wolf. “What the f…” Pepper coughed. “Fudge. I was gonna say fudge, honey.”
The wolf climbed up on the bed and curled up around Morgan. She settled in against her body and laid her head on the furry back.
“I think you are very safe now darling,” Pepper went over and gave a kiss on her forehead. “Can we leave you?”
“Yes,” she yawned and rubbed her eyes.
“Thank you,” she whispered to Loki who nodded her head back at her. Pepper turned on the night light.
“Good night Lady Morgan,” Thor waved at them. “Good night, sister.”
Pepper walked to the living room and returned with a pillow and blanket.
“In case you get sleepy on your post,” she handed them to Thor.
“I swore to protect your daughter so I shall not sleep until the morning comes,” he sat down beside the door.
“Very honourable,” she smiled at him. “Sorry for interrupting your girls night.”
“It is quite alright. Maybe next time you could join us.”
“I would love that,” Pepper smiled and squeezed his hand. “Come on Tony you can process in bed,” Pepper kissed her husband on the cheek and pulled him away.
