Bucky stared at the mirror.
He hadn't seen this person in a long, long time.
He set the scissors down on the table next to him and tried to smile.
The corners of his mouth slowly rose and the mirror once again showed him the man that he used to be.
Of course,that Bucky was now long gone, just a few traces left of the James Buchanan Barnes the past had once known.
He had the same name and looked the same, especially now,with the haircut,but everything else was different.
Bucky slowly turned his head from side to side, still not fully believing the reflection he's seeing.
He hears the front door slamming shut and Sam yelling out, “I'm home!”
Bucky looks away and heads towards the kitchen where Sam's putting away groceries.
“I got those chips you like- even though we all know that sour cream and onions is the best.” Sam laughs as he continues putting things away.
When Bucky doesn't reply for awhile Sam turns around to face his roommate.
Sam's eyes immediately fall to Bucky's much shorter hair and it only takes a few seconds for a small smile to appear on his face.
“Hi, I'm Sam Wilson.”
Bucky looks confused for a second but accepts Sam's handshake. “My name is Bucky.”
“It’s very nice to meet you Bucky. Do you wanna come help me put the groceries away?”
Bucky laughs and nods as the two quickly put away the rest of the things.
Later, once they've had dinner and even rewatched a few old episodes of the Simpsons, Sam is heading of to his room for the night when he pauses by the door.
“It looks good by the way.” He smiles at Bucky before disappearing into the hallway.
Bucky is left alone in the dimly lit and now quiet room. He sits on the couch before a few seconds before a smile appears on his face.
