Tony couldn't wait for his husband to be home, it had been a couple of weeks since Stephen had gone on some magical mission and Tony always missed him. They'd not spoke much as Stephen was between dimensions. Whenever Rhodey was at the Tower he would mock Tony for being mopey without his husband.
The Avengers, on the other hand, have never met this mysterious spouse of Tony Stark, they're not even sure if they exist at this point. They all supposed Tony could have made them up and the charade had gone too far, they all saw him as eccentric so wouldn't put it past him. Bruce, of course believed him as he saw the way Tony talked about his mysterious partner, there was no way that was fake. He never told the team the identity of his husband because, well they never asked.
Tony did tend to mope when Stephen wasn't there but because he was in his lab most of the time, the team didn't notice and when Tony did appear he was so used to having a mask that he could hide how he really felt, although Bruce did notice and would always check Tony was okay.
It was team bonding night- as the Dear Old Captain called it- when Tony got a message from Stephen saying his was in the lab. Tony excused himself, muttering something about needing to send some blueprints over as he forgot. None of them believed him as Tony had been working a lot lately so wouldn't have forgotten, and he has an AI to remind him. They decided to give him ten minutes and if he wasn't back they'd go get him. Rhodey told them to just leave him as he figured that Stephen must have gotten back, but they insisted. It was their funeral, Rhodey had learnt the hard way not to interrupt the two when they'd spend time away from each other.
"I've missed you so much." Tony said as he walked into the lab, practically leaping into Stephen's arms.
"I missed you too Tones, so much." Stephen replied, wrapping his arms tightly around Tony.
The two sat at one of the lab work benches facing each other, holding hands the entire time. Tony launched into an explanation of everything Stephen had missed, including the growing rumours about his fake spouse which both found hilarious. As he rambled Stephen just smiled fondly at his husband, God he had missed Tony.
"I thought you'd never stop." Stephen joked, in truth he loved hearing Tony talk about his work and everything going on. He loved how animated and excited Tony got, he could listen to him speak for hours. Tony pouted in response before a grin that could rival the Cheshire Cat spread across his face.
"I can think of a good use for my mouth." Tony teased seductively.
"Oh yeah?" Stephen responded with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh yeah." Tony echoed before standing up and kneeling in front of Stephen.
"Sirs might I remind you about the 'no sex in the lab rule'" JARVIS informed.
"Mute". Stephen commanded quickly as Tony was, well his mouth was preoccupied. JARVIS obliged and muted himself.
Meanwhile in the Avengers Common room...
"Okay it's been long enough, I'm dragging Tony out of that lab." Steve said and everyone got up to follow him, thinking they would all be more likely to persuade Tony to rejoin that just one of them.
"I really wouldn't." Muttered Rhodey who everyone chose to ignore- something they would regret. He decided to follow them anyway, he supposed it would be fun to see their reaction to Stephen and Tony, and whatever they were up to.
When they opened the door they expected to see Tony working on something, or designing something, figuring he probably just got caught up in work. What they did not expect to see was there team mate on his knees with the Sorcerer Supreme's dick in his mouth. Their brains temporarily short circuited; the silence, well the teams silence because they could all hear Stephen and Tony, was broken when Clint exclaimed "what the fuck" rather loudly, alerting Tony and Stephen of their presence.
Tony got up quickly as Stephen tucked himself back into his trousers. He could do nothing to hide his embarrassment, whereas Tony did nothing to hide his grin, he should not find this situation as funny as he does.
"I did warn you guys." Rhodey yelled from behind them before walking away, he was not doing that again thank you very much, he'd already seen way more of Stephen and Tony that he had ever wanted to.
"JARVIS why didn't you warn us they were coming to the lab?" Stephen scolded, ignoring Tony's comment about Stephen coming in the lab.
"Regrettably I could not as you chose to mute me after I reminded you about the 'no sex in the lab' rule " JARVIS informed in a sassy tone, well sassy for an AI anyway
"That's a dumb rule anyway." Tony proclaimed.
"Do I need to remind you of the incident from a few weeks ago where- JARVIS began, he would definitely be smirking if he wasn't an AI.
"If you finish that sentence I'll portal you to another dimension." Stephen threatened being 100% serious.
"So you and Tony then..." Steve said rather awkwardly, he doesn't know who's more embarrassed himself or Stephen. Tony, despite the position he was caught in didn't seem to care, finding the situation rather amusing.
"How long have you two been together?" Bruce asked, trying to distract from what they'd just walked in on.
"We've been together since college and married for the last 10 years." Tony answered proudly.
"Wait, you've been together that long? How did I not realise? I literally went undercover to find out information about you!" Natasha exclaimed, sounding disappointed in herself.
"I mean I did tell you all I was married, not my fault some of you chose not to believe me..." Tony snarked.
"You really were married this whole time." Clint remarked, besides Bruce, they were shocked that Tony was in fact married, although they all wished they'd found out in a much better way, oh if they'd only listened to Rhodey. Natasha was just stood in shock, not over walking in on Tony and Stephen, but over the fact she didn't uncover that Tony was married- she was seriously questioning her spy abilities.
"Yup, now if you'll excuse us we have some unfinished business, and by business I mean-" Tony began with a smirk before Stephen cut him off.
"I think they get the picture darling." Stephen replied before Tony practically dragged him out of the lab and into the elevator. Tony would speak to the team tomorrow, but right now he had more important things to do, namely Stephen.
The team awkwardly made there way back the the common room to resume their bonding night, a completely different bonding night to the one Tony and Stephen were having.
"So... that was... something." Steve said as they all sat down. He doesn't think he can ever look Tony in the eye again, or even look at him again.
"Yeah," was all Clint said in response.
"I did tell you guys not to go to his lab." Rhodey reiterated.
"We didn't know THAT would be happening." Clint exclaimed, his voice unnaturally high. Rhodey did feel the tiniest bit of sympathy for them as he has walked in on them many times. It's safe to say that's an image that's gonna stay with them for a while, but at least they know Tony is married and who his husband is. And they know to always check Tony isn't 'busy' before entering his lab...
