Chapter 8
It was Bucky’s day off and he was looking forward to doing absolutely nothing. Which would include catching up on some tv, lounging around, maybe playing legos with Wade.
What he got, instead, was the most adorable tiny freak-out he had ever seen.
It was six forty five on Sunday morning and Bucky was sitting on the couch drinking his second cup of coffee. Tiny footsteps stampede towards him as he turned to watch the pup sprint around before stopping right in front of him. Lucky was a little startled but quickly resettled on his leg while the pup caught his breath.
“...hey Wade -”
“- do you know what today is?”
“Um...what?” Bucky asked, putting his empty coffee mug down just as the pup then climbed onto the Alpha’s lap. Wade grabbed both sides of Bucky’s face, startling the brunette who froze from the sudden movement.
“Focus. Do you know what today is?”
“Um, Sunday?” Bucky said with tiny hands on his cheeks, watching with amusement as that answer had the pup groan and roll dramatically off of the Alpha and onto the cushion next to him. He had avoided squishing Lucky but continued groaning into the dog’s fur as Buck couldn’t help but chuckle at the kid.
His kid.
“Wade, what’s today?” Bucky asked, rubbing the pup’s back in sympathy when the blonde mumbled his answer. “What’s that now?”
“It’s Mother’s Day.”
“Oh? Ohhhhh,” James cooed, chuckling when it got more groans from the pup. But Buck couldn’t help himself, this kid was freaking adorable. “You want to get something for Clint for Mother’s Day?”
“Yeah so we have to go right now so we can come back and make him breakfast!”
“Oh, well, I mean. He won’t be up for a few hours...but sure yeah. We can absolutely go shopping. I’ll get him some flowers too,” Bucky said, patting the pup’s back before standing up off the couch. Wade looked up from Lucky’s fur, squinting at the Alpha.
“You’ll take me? Right now?” the pup asked skeptically, making the Alpha a little sad from the realization that this pup still doubted him.
“Sure, Wade. Sounds like you have something in mind?” Buck asked, stretching his arms above his head before walking over to put his shoes on.
“Yup yup! You know the pawn shop down the street?” Wade asked as he put his own shoes on, following Bucky out to his car.
“Um...yeah I think so?” Bucky responded, driving the two to the pawn shop down the street. “So...you’ve been here before I take it?”
“Something like that,” the pup said, running into the store as Bucky followed. Sitting behind the counter were two burly Alphas, who immediately smiled when they saw the pup.
“Wade! Hey pup how’ve you been? We haven’t seen you in a few months,” the bigger one said before turning his attention to Bucky, where his demeanor changed. “And who is this?”
“It’s fine Cable, this is my new foster dad, Bucky,” Wade explained, tiny hands on the glass counter looking for something. The two Alphas visibly relaxed at that, though still looked skeptical towards the brunette. Bucky thought of asking Wade about this later but was distracted when the pup let out a triumphant yell.
“Found them! Logan can you wrap these for me?”
“Oh? What did you decide on?” Bucky asked, smiling at seeing how excited the pup was.
“You’ll see,” Wade said with wiggly eyebrows, reaching into his tiny pockets and pulling out...cash…
“Oh, Wade, I don’t mind paying for whatever it is. We still need to go to the store for breakfast stuff. Clint loves waffles and we’re out of pancake mix.”
“How about you listen to your new foster, huh bub? Save that money and buy yourself something fun?” Logan asked, still wrapping up whatever Wade had picked and handing it to the pup.
“I want to spend it on Clint,” Wade said with a pout, crossing his little arms over his chest. Logan shared a smile with Cable before ringing the pup up. The little blonde held the package close to his chest as the two left the pawn shop and headed for the store.
Afterwards and while the two cooked breakfast, Bucky asked about the history with the pawn shop. Wade took a moment before he explained how sometimes he’d steal from bad fosters and sell stuff there. It prompted Bucky to tell the pup a story about a young him and Steve trying to sell jewelry that belonged to the pawn shop owner.
Wade laughed as he ate his own share of waffles, making Bucky feel more love than he thought possible for this kid. He’d definitely need to talk to Clint about adoption.
The two finished making Clint’s Mother’s Day tray which Bucky carried to his bedroom, Wade following with his present and Bucky’s flowers. Lucky trailed behind, not sure what was happening but clearly excited as well.
The three crept into the room where a still sleeping Clint lay. Buck had to resist the attraction he felt for his mate, who was adorably sprawled across their bed. It was a new feeling, waking his mate up with their pup, bringing him breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day.
Cause Clint was a mom and they were a family.
Bucky carefully put the tray on Clint’s bedside table, standing between it and Lucky as he nodded to Wade to climb up on the bed, taking the flowers and watching the pup with a smile.
“Clint, wake up!” Wade shouted, shaking the Omega’s shoulders as Bucky reached over for his mate’s aids. The older blonde stirred and squinted at the pup who had climbed on top of him.
“Wha?” Clint said incoherently rubbing his face as Buck handed him his aids. The Alpha watched fondly as the Omega put his aids in his ears, blinking confusedly and looking back and forth at the two. “Was’happening?”
“Happy Mother’s Day Clint!” Wade shouted again, handing the Omega the poorly wrapped gift as the older blonde sat up to see the two better. Lucky finally gave up on trying to eat the food and came to sit with them on the bed.
“What?” a sleepy Clint asked, poor sleepy brain not fully understanding what was happening. He turned to Bucky who smiled back at him, handing him the coffee and taking it back when he drank it all in one go.
“It’s Mother’s Day, doll. Wade reminded me and we made you breakfast. And our pup also bought you something.” Clint continued looking dumbfounded before what was happening finally clicked with the Omega who then immediately burst into tears.
Wade suddenly turned to the Alpha, a distressed whimper coming from the pup as Bucky couldn’t help but smile at the two. Because before the Alpha could explain that those were good tears, Clint brought the pup into his arms and snuggled him close.
“You are the best pup ever,” Clint said, adding kisses to the pup’s face as Wade began giggling in his hold. With his phone in his back pocket, Bucky snuck it out for a few discreet photos of the two.
“Happy Mother’s Day, Clint,” Bucky said, sneaking into the cuddle to kiss the Omega on his lips, loving the groan of annoyance from Wade.
“It’s Mother’s Day not kiss your mate day,” Wade pouted to the Alpha, pushing the brunette away so he could hand Clint the present and getting a laugh from the adults. This time when Bucky snuck his phone out, he hit record.
“Wade, puppy you didn’t have to get me anything,” Clint said even as he opened the gift, revealing two matching silver necklaces. With...arrow charms on them. “Oh my god.”
“I thought...it’s matching necklaces for you and me…” Wade explained before he was tackled with a hug, the Omega smothering him and squeezing so tightly the pup actually protested.
“Let the pup breathe, doll,” Buck chided lightly, so very glad he’s capturing this moment. He recorded for another few seconds as the two put their necklaces on each other before tucking it back in his pocket.
“So you really like it?” Wade asked, the smell of happiness and hope wafting off the pup.
“Oh Wade, I love it puppy,” Clint said as he pulled the groaning boy into another hug, stealing a glance at Bucky who couldn’t stop smiling at the two.
“There’s also waffles and bacon for you,” the Alpha purred, grabbing the tray and placing it on his mate’s lap. Forcing him to finally let go off the pup.
“And you got me tulips? I love you babe,” his Omega said, the smell of happiness filling the room as Clint pouted his lips at him - asking for a kiss.
And Bucky was never one to turn down that request.
“Love you too,” Buck cooed, keeping the kiss short so their pup wouldn't protest again.
“And I love you, Wade,” Clint said to the blushing pup who huffed again at getting hugged and kissed on his head.
“Clint! Just eat your breakfast,” Wade whined, though he stayed curled up next to the Omega as he ate his waffles and bacon.
“So what do you want to do today, doll?” Bucky asked, sitting on the bed and rubbing his mate’s legs over the comforter. “Wade and I were talking about all of us taking Lucky to the dog park, stopping at that ice cream food cart you love so much? Maybe when we come back have a movie marathon of your choosing? How does that sound?”
“That...that sounds perfect,” Clint said after he ate his last bite, placing the tray back on the side table as they all began to pile off the bed. “But! Not right now. Right now...I demand cuddles in bed,” the Omega said before falling back dramatically.
Bucky shared a look with Wade before the pup shrugged with a blush and climbed back onto the bed. The Alpha carefully climbed in with the group, snuggling on the other side of his mate that wasn’t occupied by Wade and Lucky.
When they had all settled, it didn’t take long for both Clint and Wade’s breath to even out. Bucky took that opportunity to snap one more picture of them all, putting his phone back on the side table before snuggling up once more.
Before he could forget, he gently grabbed his mate’s hearing aids and placed them on the bedside table.
“Send me those pics, Alpha” Clint purred out, turning his head and pouting his lips, earning one more kiss from Bucky. At least until they all wake up again.
