Chapter 1

Sam walked up the stairs carefully as to not shift the box too much. The elevator had been out of order but that wasn't going to slow him down. He reached the apartment and set the box down at his feet so he could unlock the door.

"Bucky?" Sam called out as he walked into the apartment, toeing off his sneakers.

"Daddy!" Bucky cheered as he ran up to Sam.

Sam hadn't been expecting Bucky to be little when he got home but it certainly didn't bother him that he was. He loved taking care of Bucky when he regressed. The only issue was that it might get a little more difficult to get Bucky his surprise without him getting over excited.

"Hey Bud." Sam tussled Bucky's hair, "I've got a surprise for you. Close your eyes."

Bucky giggled, "Okay."

Sam grabbed the box from behind him and picked up a white cat from inside, "Alright, open."

"Kitty!!" Bucky squealed.

Sam smiled and set the cat down. The cat ran over to Bucky to investigate the new person. Bucky reached down to grab the cat. And the cat scurried behind Sam

"Hey, hey, you need to be careful baby, remember to be gentle." Sam told the boy, being sure to keep his voice calm enough to not startle Bucky.

Bucky nodded and sat down in front of the cat. He reached out his hand to the cat, waiting for her to brush up against it. The cat walked out from behind Sam's leg to sniff at Bucky's hand. When she nudged her face against his hand, Bucky smiled up at Sam and began to pet the cat's head.

"What do you think of her?" Sam asked.

"Love her. Thank you Daddy." Bucky said.

Sam knelt down next to Bucky and hugged him, "Of course, Bucky. What are you gonna call her?"

"Dunno yet." Bucky shrugged.

"Well, whatever you deiced, I'm sure she'll love it, Wolf Pup." Sam said and he kissed the top of Bucky's head.

Bucky spent the rest of the afternoon playing with the cat. He absolutely loved her. Sam couldn't have hoped for a better response. He and Bucky had been discussing getting a pet for quite some time, when he saw the gentle white cat at the shelter he just had to get her for Bucky.

"Bucky." Sam called out, "Dinner time."

"But still playin' with Alpine." Bucky whined.

"Alpine, huh? Is that your kitty's name?" Sam asked.

Bucky nodded, "Uh huh. Cause like mountains and snow, and she's white like snow."

"Oh, I get it, Bucky Bear." Sam said, "Come on, you and Alpine both need to eat dinner."

"Okay." Bucky pouted, "Come on Alpie."

Sam set a bowl of cat food down next to Bucky's seat at the table. Bucky sat down and stared at the cat happily while he waited for his food. Sam set a plate of dinosaur chicken nuggets and mixed vegetables in front of Bucky.

"Daddy, can Alpine have dino nuggie?" Bucky asked.

"No, Buck. Kitties don't eat dino nuggets." Sam answered.

"Oh." Bucky said, "Why not?"

Sam shrugged, "They just don't. Now eat your dinner. Alpine has her own food."

Bucky continued to eat. When Alpine finished and ran off Bucky quickly ate his last few nuggets and slid off of his seat to follow her.

"Bucky." Sam called after the boy before he could get too far, "Eat your vegetables."

"But Alpie didn't have to eat any!" Bucky whined.

"Alpine is a cat, she doesn't need to eat vegetables." Sam told him, "You can play with the kitty when you eat some more of your vegetables."

Bucky pouted and trudged back to his seat. He pushed his vegetables around with his fork for a few minutes before finally shoveling some into his mouth. He finished the vegetables and rushed to put his plate in the sink so her could find the cat.

"Alpine!" Bucky called out, not seeing the cat anywhere, "Alpie!"

"Buck, what's wrong?" Sam asked.

"Can't find the kitty, Daddy." Bucky whined.

"Okay baby, we'll go find her." Sam offered his hand to Bucky so they could continue to search the house, "Alpine."

"Alpie!" Bucky called out.

Sam heard a small scratching at Bucky's playroom door. He opened the door a bit more and peaked inside to find Alpine. The opening door caught her attention and the cat bolted out, stopping at Bucky's legs. She mewed and brushed against Bucky's legs.

"Alpie!" Bucky squealed, scooping up the cat and hugging her.

"There you go, baby." Sam said, tussling Bucky's hair, "Come on, let's go watch a movie."

"Alpine too?"

Sam smiled, "Of course Alpine can watch the movie with us."
