A tall man sat on the tallest building’s edge while lazily kicking his legs. Green eyes gazed out to a city filled with orange and yellow lights to keep the darkness from the sky from touching it. It can be sort of beautiful from a distance and when it's dark out, but it could never be what his home is- or it once was.

Times like these make him question why he was even here on this forien planet. Why is he even existenting still. There was nothing for him to be here.

He has no duty to attend to. There are no plans to make. It's like he just simply exists for the sake of existing.

“Hey can I join you?”

Loki tilt his head to the side to see a small man in a baggy white shirt and tight jeans stand next to him.  He was slurping away some sort of drink he was not familiar with while holding a duplicate of the same drink in his other hand. The god really did not want any company from anybody, but Peter was always an exception, so he nodded.

Peter plopped down beside him. “I just got off work from handling executives. They tend to talk their mouths off too much.”

Loki smirked. “And what makes you think I won’t. I am quite notorious for running my mouth.”

“Yeah that's true, but the difference is you are more enjoyable to talk to and the executives aren’t. Oh, here I got you a vanilla milkshake. I wasn’t sure what you would like or even if you ever tried it out.”

He handed the drink into the other’s pale elegant hands. It was cold. The white drink was thick and fluffy with a red straw poking through it. He kept his head down looking down at the drink, but he watched in the corner of his eye as Peter drinked away while watching the lit up city. The warm lights from below dance in the man’s brown eyes making them even brighter.

The half frost giant could not stop the warm ball that formed in his chest. No one ever wanted to tolerate him or even offer him anything unless it was beneficial to use him. Which, to be fair, he does the same thing and even may or may not have stabbed quite a few people in the back. Regardless it was still nice to be sitting here with someone who does care about him.

The god huffed. “You still persist in wanting to be around me like the pest you are?”

Peter smirked and raised his dessert drink. “As always. It is in my blood after all.”

Loki leaned forward letting black chunks fall forward to block his face that was smiling. He let his lips wrap around the draw and gave a gentle to be burst with cold sweet drink. His hand slipped behind his neck as he watched Peter in the corner of his eye as he rubbed his neck as well.

He still found it odd that the little spider would unconsciously touch the back of his neck when he does. At first the god would always rub the back of his neck due to an odd bite that never disappeared. He doesn’t even know how it even appeared in the first place, he was walking around in Asgard when suddenly a sharp pinch occurred on his neck. Loki brushed it off as it would disappear in a day.

It never did.

Loki gazed at the clear container that the milkshake was in and twist it around. “You know I like talking to you too. Well really you’re the only one that I like talking to. I never even talk to my own people on Asgard. Which is odd that I'm talking to someone that would never been apart of my world.”

Peter chuckled. “Sometimes you meet the best people from the unlikeliest places. I sure didn’t expect someone like me from a small place to be sitting here with a cool alien god.”

The god slides his eyes over to the young man beside him who was looking over the city full of wonder with curls falling in his face while slurping from a frozen treat. He would never admit out loud, but this young man had a point, for Peter was the best person that he ever met and he was from another realm. Honestly he was the only person that he actually liked. Well… liked was an understatement.

Peter always meant well. He always wanted to help him, be around him, and be there for him. He’s possibly the kindest man that he ever met. He’s not annoying like the others, he has quite a sharp tongue on him but it was more used on humor. Usually when someone babbles a lot he tends to get annoyed or want to stab them, but Peter’s babbling is quite endearing. Besides, he can somehow tell that there are times he does not feel like talking so he just sits besides him quietly, like right now.

Bold green eyes traveled down from the man's face to his exposed collarbones, then it caught something peeking though Peter’s baggy t-shirt shirt. It was something green and in a curvy shape, but what stuck out the most was, it was moving. Like a drawing that came to life.

As far as he was aware, Midgardian tattoos do not move. Besides, Peter even said himself that he was too scared of needles to get tattoos, so safe to assume he never had a tattoo.

“What’s that on your chest?”

The spider focused back on him. “Hmm?”

Loki pointed. “Your chest. I can see something moving under it. What is it?”

Peter went quiet then jumped up. “You can see them!”

“Yes. It appears to be moving.”

The superhuman pumped his fist in the air. “I knew I wasn’t crazy! Everytime I went to show someone they would alway tell me nothing was there!”

“As for your question,” he scratched the side of his face, “I'm not really sure either to be honest. This has been on my chest ever since I was four maybe longer, But that was the time I really took notice of it.”

“Could I see it? I could possibly help identify the markings, since that clearly has magic involved.”

“Sure! I’m actually really excited to show it to someone who can actually see it!”

He tossed his white baggy shirt behind him and sat right next to him, with their legs pressed together. Loki’s cold heart froze. There, laying on the milky skin, laid two snakes intertwining with one another in an “S” shape. There was a name written in his mother language.

This was a soul mark. It was his soul mark.

The man's doe eyes stared at him with sparkles of joy. “Doesn’t it look cool! I just love the little snakes. Look at these markings over here, I’m not sure if that was part of the design or that’s another language. It seems like it would be a part of the language, but I’m not sure what language that could be and…”

The rest of the words died on his lips as he looked over to him. “Are you okay?”

Loki swallowed. He was unable to take his eyes away from his markings. His chill hand reached out connected with the warm chest.

He thought it was impossible for anyone to be a soulmate to a monster like him. But Fate seemed to have other plans. What could he say?

“I have identified it.”

Peter’s brows pinched together. “Is it something bad? You seem put off by it.”

“It depends how you look at it.”

It went quiet between the two of them. Panic went through Loki’s brain. He kept scavenging his brain on how to go around this situation or explain it. But it all felt so wrong to lie to the little spider, yet at the same time it was not a good idea to tell someone they are forever bound to one another.

A hand clamped on his shoulder drawing him out of his spiraling thoughts. Peter kept giving him a soft smile.

“Hey it’s okay to tell me. I won’t freak out. I had much worse things happen to me, so I don’t think whatever got you jittery will be bad.”

I highly doubt that.

The god took a deep breath then cradled Peter’s hand in his.“You see when I was younger, discovering different types of magic, I found a ritual that would allow me to identify the one that cohensie with my spirit through life and death. In Midgard terms a soulmate.”

He kept looking down at their joined hands. “I... was quite desperate to find mine. To prove to everyone that even someone like me could even be loved.”

“The ritual contains for me to make a mark out of my own blood and magic. If it worked correctly then later on I should be able to receive a mark of some sort. Whether it be a name, a soul design, a wound, or even hearing their voice as I slept. It could come in any form.``

“So I waited. And waited. Each time that I recognized that I was getting older and everyone was finding love, I became more hopeless and bitter. For there were no signs that I had one. I eventually just gave up and accepted the fact that no one would want me because of what I am.”

It went quiet. Loki dragged his eyes back up to his mark that was on display. He doesn’t know if it was because to check it was real or to see it wouldn’t disappear.

He whispered, “I would never have expected that I actually would have one.”

“Loki can you please look at me?”

With reluctance he looked the man in the eyes. Instead of disgust or horror he expect, he received a warm smile. Does he… not mind this?

Peter lowered his voice. “You thought I was going to turn you away or something like that? Well don’t worry I would never do that. You know I really like you a lot more than anything. Actually I thought you wouldn’t want to be with me.”

Loki sputtered. “You thought wrong then. I would never let you go, you are mine. You are the only one I can tolerate on this forsaken planet.”

Peter chuckled. “Well that’s good to know… Though I have a question, I thought you would receive one as well?”

The god was quiet for a moment then spoke up, “I think… I have received your mark. I just never realized it was a soulmark of all things.”

He moved his long black hair from the side to reveal two tiny dots. Peter moved closer to get a better look at it. His eyes squinted then they lit up.

“Oh! That's the bite mark the radioactive spider gave me in order to have my powers. The bite mark never went away on me either.”

It was his turn to rotate his head to the side to reveal a replica of his own in the same place like Loki’s.

The god rubbed Peter’s soulmark and it made the young man turn red and rubbed his own neck. “No wonder I kept getting randomly heated.”

Then he cocked his head to the side. “Wait how come you can’t feel me when I touch your mark, but I can feel you when you touch mine? Because I touched it quite a lot.”

Loki hummed and tapped his index finger against his lip. “Most likely because the mark you have is made out of magic, only people with magic can see it. But if the barer does not have magic, they will be able to see it, but they can not really touch it. If they had magic they could send a signal or feel the other.”

“Huh the more you know.”

It went quiet again.

Peter fiddled with his hands. “So what now?”

Indeed what now.

It took a minute then the other took a deep breath. “Okay so here goes. I know I’m not really a great  person to have as a soulmate since I’m a bit reckless and whatnot. But I really want to make this work! I have been quite in love with you quite a while now, but I just never had the courage to say it.”

Then he quickly threw his hands up. “Of course if you don’t want a romantic relationship that's fine too! We can still be friends if you like. I just figured to throw that out there.”

“I…”

Is this really what I want? To be stuck by a person for the rest of my life. Be stuck with someone who understands what it feels like to be different amongst the people being born with.

For once the god directed a smile at Peter. “I would like that as well.”

Peter lit up like a puppy. He pounced on the god, causing them both to tumble backwards. His arms wrapped around Loki’s neck and laugh freely. The frost giant chuckled and slither his arms to the man's waist.

Throughout the entire ordeal, they forgot about their milkshakes that spilled over, but that was okay they had something much sweeter. Their bond towards each other.
