Mobius is furiously typing away when a big, black fur-ball jumps onto his keyboard and ruins everything he just got done.
"Loki?" He asks, hesitantly, calling to his husband who is still asleep in the other room. "Why is there a cat in our house?"
He receives no response other than a meow from the cat. It's sitting on his keyboard, and staring into his brain with wide, green eyes.
"Loki?" He calls again, and when he still receives no response, he sighs in frustration. "You're Loki, aren't you?" He raises an eyebrow at the cat, and reaches a hand out for it to sniff.
The cat meows in confirmation, and jumps onto his lap. Mobius huffs, and turns his attention back to his work. He has better things to do than worry about why Loki has chosen to turn himself into a cat.
After a few seconds of ignoring him, though, the cat just paws at his chest and meows again.
"Loki," Mobius scolds, and shoots him a glare. "You can't keep distracting me, okay? The storm is just getting worse, and I want to at least get something done before the power inevitably goes out."
Again, no response. Mobius gently shoves Loki off his lap, who lands on the floor with a snarl. It doesn't take long for him to regain his balance, though, and jump right back up onto Mobius' desk.
Thunder booms in the distance, shaking the house. Loki-cat hisses, and makes his way towards Mobius' lap once more.
After Loki makes it clear that he's not going to leave Mobius alone, Mobius reaches down to pet the cat's head and type with his other hand. It's annoying, and is not helping at all, really.
When thunder shakes the house again, Loki curls closer to Mobius. A few questions flash through his mind, but he's more concerned about finishing his work right now than whatever Loki's got going on.
He almost manages to finish, too, but just when he's about to lightning crackles in the sky and the lights flicker out immediately after.
"Alright," he speaks aloud, and picks Loki-cat into his hands. "It would really help me if you turned back into a human, dude."
The only thing he receives in response is Loki's needle-sharp claws digging into his shoulder. "That was rude," he scolds, but doesn't let go.
Mobius slowly makes his way to the closest, where they keep the flashlights and candles. He grabs a few candles, and lights them, which helps a little, but not much.
Loki stays perfectly seated in his arms, pressed flat against his chest. Mobius is really going to have to have a talk with him about boundaries after this.
When thunder shakes the house again, Mobius comes to the abrupt realization that this might be why Loki is a cat.
"You're scared," he groans, feeling dumb. "That's why you're a cat."
Loki just head-butts him, and Mobius has to hold back another groan. This is a headache. Really. He married the most dramatic man in the world. One who turns into a cat because he's scared of thunderstorms.
"The thunder isn't going to hurt you, you know," he continues as he sets up a few more candles. "I know that you probably associate it with Thor, and I know an angry Thor is very scary, but Thor isn't here. Thunderstorms don't just happen when Thor is angry. They can happen for completely natural reasons, too."
Loki-cat growls at him. Mobius shakes his head somewhat fondly, and pets him with his free hand.
Eventually, after Mobius has set up his proper candles and the rain has slowed to a soft patter, he lowers himself onto the couch with Loki in his hands.
Soon the rain stops all together, and with it the thunder and lightning. It's only after the sun comes out again, though, that a very human and very naked Loki appears on his lap, with a nervous smile plastered on his lips.
Mobius loves his husband. Very much. But seriously. Boundaries.
