The First Meeting
After being on the run, Steve and his team finally had their glorious return.
The President had signed the pardons, and they were welcomed to return to the United States.
They had a small celebration on the SHIELD base, tomorrow, they'll be back home, and everything could start coming back to the way it was.
So when they were landing on the airport, and Steve saw a large crowd on there, he smiled. This were the people celebrating the return of their heroes.
"You see Buck." He told his best friend. "I told you, the world wanted us back !"
Steve was so excited, he went out first so the people could see Captain America, return to protect the world.
Only then Steve came out, and then he saw it.
The people weren't their fans celebrating.
They were...protesters.
So many of them....speaking against him and his team.
Steve couldn't believe it.
All of them with anti Captain America sign.
"STEVE ROGERS IS A CRIMINAL !"
"SCREW TEAM CAP !"
"BLACK WIDOW IS A TRAITOR !"
"BURN THE WITCH !"
"FALCON AND HAWKEYE ARE DANGEROUS, LOCK THEM UP !"
"STEVE ROGERS IS NOT OUR CAPTAIN !"
"CAPTAIN AMERICA IS NOT OUR HERO !"
"JUSTICE FOR TONY STARK ! JUSTICE FOR IRONMAN !"
A man stood in top of a van.
"SAY IT WITH ME ! NOT OUR CAPTAIN ! NOT OUR CAPTAIN !"
"NOT OUR CAPTAIN !" The crowd cheered.
Steve felt the rest of his team become frozen at the sight. He...he didn't understand.
Steve had made his stand to protect them. Because he knew the accords were dangerous. He had been their hero.
Then why were they doing this !
"Fuck." Hill mumbled "Come on, the sooner we get past this, the better."
Steve and the others shook their heads. They walked to the runway, where the people got even madder when they saw him.
"YOU ARE A TRAITOR ROGERS !"
"WE TRUSTED YOU, YOU WERE OUR HERO ! AND YOU DO THIS !"
"YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO OUR COUNTRY !"
"TEAM CAP IS CRIMINALS. TEAM IRONMAN ARE HEROES !"
"YOU KILLED IRONMAN ! FUCK YOU ROGERS !"
"NOT OUR CAPTAIN, NOT OUR CAPTAIN, NOT OUR CAPTAIN !" Steve heard them as he got in the car, and they drove away.
"What...what was that ?" Steve finally asked.
"You didn't expect anything else didn't you ?" Hill asked.
"That was...something." Natasha said. "I thought..."
"That what ? That the world was rallying behind you ? Romanoff, the President's decision was not a popular. He is in fact, trying to save face now, as he didn't expect this negative response. The people did not want you back."
Steve shook his head. This...this didn't make any sense.
"But...why would they do this...They want Stark back...but not us ?" Wanda said, equally as confused.
"Did you expect anything else ?" Sam mumbled. He shared a look with Bucky, who nodded.
Steve didn't know what that look was for, and it bothered him.
"Well buckle up then." Hill said. "Because it's gonna get worst here on."
Steve didn't believe it. This was just...the shock of their return.
Nothing else was gonna be like this.
Right ?
But no, things changed even more.
When Steve and his team returned to the compound, they saw that their home had been changed, without their permission !
When Steve asked what happened, he received the shock of his life.
Aparantly, Tony was in the process of selling the compound to the UN before the Civil War happened (something about the accords and things Steve really didn't care about, as he was gonna scrap all of that) and when he went missing, Pepper finished the deal.
Stark Indurtries did not longer own the compound, the UN did, and they weren't comfortable with letting a team of superheroes live on a mansion without paying.
They changed things, they took away most of what did the compound their home, and changed it so that it looked more like an official base.
They still had rooms, but not the ones they enjoyed so much, no it was simple rooms that were not really up to the standard they deserved.
They tried to complain of course, but there was nothing they could do about it. The UN wasn't listening.
But that meeting brought even more problems.
Steve and his team found out, that they would now only operate inside the US. That the other countries had not accepted the pardon, and one of the conditions the president had to agree, was that the Avengers would now only work within the United States. If they left the country for something that wasn't a world wide emergency, the pardons would be scraped and they would go to prison.
They also found that the UN was much less lenient with funds that Tony was, they were given a monthly strip and that was it. If they wanted more money, they would have to get a job to do so. Steve thought that was very unfair. Being Avengers is their job, and in other to do that, he and his team should be able to get what they need, no matter what.
Steve got back his shield, the President managed to get it back from S.I. But had to make many favors to Potts in return, one of them was banning Steve, his team, and all of SHIELD from gaining access to any of Tony's tec ever again. Now they had to work with subpar equipment that wasn't really up the standard.
She also banned them from entering any S.I property for life. Meaning they couldn't even go there and complain.
SHIELD was also in heavy restrictions. They were to be heavily monitored from now on, and they were on very thin ice. They were forbidden from working with enchanced or any other heroes that weren't the Avengers. Those things were up to SWORD now.
They all raged at the injustice of it all. But there was really nothing they could do.
His team was angry. Sam was the only calm one, he seemed to have accepted this, and decided to make the best of it. He had been calling his sister and reconnecting with his family. Clint on the other hand, was unable to get in contact with Laura. She had left the farm, and has yet to tell him where they were. The only thing he had...were the divorce papers...
Wanda was angry. She missed Vision so much, but the android refused to answer her calls. They didn't even know if he had the same number. Last he heard, Vision had moved to one of Tony's mansions in Malibu. He thought the android would return once he heard Wanda was back, but...it seems that wasn't the case.
Natasha was the saving grace. She was calm, collected, and still fought to try to get things back. But the Black Widow's influence was no more. Instead of respect, the officials in charge looked at her in contempt, any attempt that she made, was returned with laughter and anger. She had no power anymore.
Steve wasn't happy as well. They were forced to signed the accords, had their home changed, and no longer had the money they needed, and they had no say about it.
But still, he knew the key to fixing all of this, was Tony.
Tony had the power to stop Potts and her power play. He could buy the compound back, and make it back to the way its supposed to be. Then he could get rid of the accords and finally get things back to how they were before.
Yes, Tony was the key. Wherever he was hiding , Steve would find him.
Tony had messed up by supporting the accords, it was only fair he fixed the mess he created.
This was a minor set back, but he could get things back on track.
He only had to find Tony, and then Steve would be the hero he was once again.
Peter slowly woke up after that....explosion.
"What the...."
"Hey....hey, are you ok ?"
He saw a girl, probably the same age as him, looking at him.
"What...where am I..."
"Um. We are on a plane, on the way to Antartica."
"Antartica !" What the hell, why was he going to Antartica !
"Look there is little time to explain. Put this on." She gave him some warm clothes. "And whatever you do, do what Jonah tells you to do. I don't know what he wants with you, but he is willing to to anything to meet his goals."
"Uh...oh !" Peter started putting the jackets on. "What's your name ?" He asked her.
"Madison Russel. You ?"
"Peter Parker."
They landed on Antartica shortly after.
A woman came for them.
"You are ready Maddie ? Good, come on. You too young man, stay close ok ?"
"That's my mother." Madison explained, as they walked out.
Peter felt the immense cold hit him even with the protective clothing. But even then, he didn't care much about that when he saw where they were heading.
"What is that ?" He looked at the massive base. "Is that from SHIELD ?"
"No. It's from MONARCH !"
Peter walked inside with the rest, and they entered an elevator.
The man in charge, Jonah, looked at his soldiers.
"Be prepared from when MONARCH arrives."
"Yes sir ! We will start the drills right away."
"Who is that guy really ?" Peter whispered.
"Hail Hydra." Was what she whispered back. That made Peter be very aware of the danger he is in.
"Shit. I rather be on my math test right now."
They finally got to the lower face, and walked.
"Where are we going ?"
"You'll see....it's hard to describe actually."
"Mother of god..." A soldier said, interrupting their conversation.
"He had nothing to do with this." Jonah chuckled.
Peter entered the area...and saw it.
A giant ice wall and inside it.......was a three headed beast, something that he had never even thought real before.
"Wha...what is that ?"
"Monster Zero." Madison said quietly.
Peter glupped....that thing....it was so scary.
"So, Dr. Are you ready ?" Jonah asked Madison's mother.
She nodded at him.
"Good, then let's get started !"
Drills came in and they started drilling the ice. Soldiers placed explosives on it.
Ms. Russell started linking a machine, Peter had no idea what it did.
He couldn't act as Spiderman. Without his suit, the cold would not let him fight. There were to many of them.
He could only guess two things that Hydra wanted to do with this beast. They wanted to kill it....or they wanted him out.
He could only pray it was the first one.
Tony sat on his desk, thinking of Mothra.
Meeting the Queen, his....second mother....was something.
Tony felt so...comfortable with her around. It didn't matter that, she was more powerful than him...he felt safe with her.
Tony didn't believe there was something purely good, but Mothra took that idea out of the window. She was the definition of good, and pureness.
He can't deny he wants to see her again.
His thoughts were interrupted when the base suddenly shook.
"What the ?"
Everyone started running, Tony walked forward.
They were preparing to head to Antartica, and now....what is happening ?
He saw Yelena, and walked to her.
"What is happening ?"
"He's here..."
"What...who ?"
"Who else ? Godzilla !"
Tony sighted, Godzilla.....he is coming.
They walked to the control room.
"He has never come this close !" Chen said.
"Weapons and shields are ready !" Stanton said.
"Hold on, we don't know if he will attack !" Serizawa said.
"Oh he will if we keep those guns out." Mark said. "Look I want him gone, but unless this is a fight you know you can win, we need to stand down. Show him we are not a threat."
Serizawa thought about it..and nodded.
"Stand down."
"You can't be serious...." Colonel Foster said.
"I am, stand down now !"
Stanton sighted and turned off all weapons.
"Now..open the shields."
"Dude, I want to live..."
"Stanton !"
"Dam it, yes Doctor."
The window opened, and they all saw him.
Godzilla swam towards them. His back glowed blue.
"What is he doing ?" Yelena asked.
"It's an intimidation display. Like a gorilla pounding his chest." Granham said.
"Do you really have to use a gorilla as an example, should I remind you of certain other titan !" Stanton said.
Tony ignored them, being Godzilla swim.
"He is coming."
Tony froze. He...he is pretty sure he was the only one that heard that.
"He is coming... we must leave now...."
Tony looked at him, and he was sure he and the King locked eyes for some seconds.
"We must stop him, or everything will be gone."
Then the light of his back was off.
"Oof...he calmed down..."
Then Godzilla suddenly showed up right in front of them, and swam to the left.
"AAAAAH"! Stanton yelled.
Everyone took sometime to calm down.
"He must be going after this Monster Zero." Tony finally said.
"Mr. Stark is right." Mark said. "If an animal leaves its hunting grounds it's because its threatened. He senses something. Maybe the ORCA, or...that thing."
Serizawa nodded.
"Then we need to get moving, now."
