“I feel like we’re doing this a bit backwards.”
Natasha just chuckles from the passenger side of their Dodge Truck. “Well, we did a lot of things backwards, soldier. Besides, they'll like you.”
“Your mom and sister maybe, but I don’t think your dad likes the idea of marrying his daughter without his permission.”
“It’s fine, I’m sure he’ll back off if you offer to spar with him or trade “war” stories with another,” she gives her husband a comforting smile.
Steve just smiles back at her and continues to drive through the countryside of Ohio. Natasha places a comforting hand on her husband’s arm and gives it a squeeze. Yelena had messaged Natasha that their parents had come over to visit, so Natasha thought it would be a great idea to bring Steve.
Of course her family had no idea that she was dating Captain America
Or that she was married to Captain America
Yeah her dad might flip out on them...well more specifically flip out on Steve
She’ll make it up to the blonde super soldier
It takes them a while until they reach Yelena’s place. Steve parks the car in front of the ranch house and Natasha follows with a bundle in her arms. The blonde super soldier has his arm around his wife’s waist. The door swings open with Yelena’s dog coming out with her owner following suit.
“Ah there they are,” Yelena hugs her sister, mindful of what the redhead holds, “and come here Mr. House Renovator,” she teases the super soldier.
“Hello Yelena,” Steve hugs her back.
The door opens with Melina and Alexei coming out.
“Hey you,” Melina comes over to hug her eldest daughter.
Backing off, Alexei smiles, “There she is! My daughter, the Avenger!” He gives a big hug but is slightly pushed back. Before Alexei could ask why he spotted Steve. “Captain America, my greatest rival!” He gets into a playful fighting stance. “Have you come to take me on Captain America?”
“Papa, I brought Steve here to meet you all,” Natasha stands next to her husband, “besides we both have something to tell you.”
“I knew it, you both are married. Ha you thought you could hide that big diamond ring from me.” Yelena grins and notices her sister glaring at her. “What? You didn’t tell them?”
Alexei was gobsmacked but Melina was happy.
“Oh Natasha I’m so happy for you, come here Steve, let mama Melina give you a hug.” She gives the blonde super soldier a big hug. “You have very hard muscles. You are very handsome, but not as handsome as my Alexei.”
“Thank you ma’am,” Steve blushes from her comment.
“Whaaaaa?!” Alexei looks at Natasha and then back at Steve and then back at Natasha. “W-when did this happen, huh? Natasha, when did you betray Russia for America?” Melina smacks her husband’s arm. “What? I’m just asking.”
“Papa, Steve and I got married two years ago, right after I met up with you guys and we got rid of the Red Room.” Natasha glares back at Yelena. “Yelena ruined the surprise because I was going to tell you over dinner.” Then a small whimper comes from Natasha’s arms and her family looks down. “Oh and there’s one more surprise,” she moves the bundled up blanket in her arms revealing a small blonde baby, “I would like you to meet your nephew and grandson. His name is James Anthony Clinton Alexei Rogers.”
“Oh he’s so precious,” Melina rushes over and gently takes the baby in her arms, “oh yes Captain America’s genes are very strong in him.” James opens his eyes and looks at his grandmother, gives her a happy smile. “But he’s got your eyes Natasha and nose.”
“Wow sis, I didn’t know your husband also had super sperm,” Yelena teases the redhead while fawning over the baby.
“I’m hurt Natasha honestly. First you marry Captain America and then have his baby.” Alexei walks over to his wife and other daughter and looks at the baby. “But he’s very cute. I will give you that. Wait, why is my name the fourth one?”
“Okay, who’s hungry huh? I’m sure little James is.” Melina tries to change the topic.
“No, no. I want to hear Natasha explain herself.” Alexei puts his hand on his hips.
Natasha whispers in Steve’s ear, “If you distract my father, I promise to make it up to you when we go home.”
The blonde super soldier lets out a sigh, “Alright fine.” He looks at his father-in-law. “Hey Red Guardian, how about a friendly spar before dinner?”
Alexei gives him a big smile, “Alright Captain America I’ll fight you. Let’s see if you are worthy of my daughter. Ah, let me go get my suit.” Alexei runs back into the house.
All three women groan while Steve looks at Natasha with a confused look. James just gurgles happily in Yelena’s arms.
