KidLoki
5. KidLoki
KidLoki ended up leaving Sylvie in the library and wandering off to explore the citadel. There is only so much conversation one can sustain when the other person is unwilling to talk. The alligator followed him, clearly keen to see more of the place as well.
The citadel turned out to be massive. He would not call it particularly welcoming or cozy, but it certainly had potential. KidLoki wandered up a couple of towers, discovering each of them had living quarters, seemingly untouched by time, or touched by all of it at once. A round room with huge bed, mismatched collection of furniture, a couple of mirrors and a sizeable wardrobe (completely empty, except for some folded fabrics and a blown up flamingo floater) was his favourite so far. He figured he would just claim it as his own. From what he has seen of Sylvie, she was not interested in fancy rooms. He was not actually sure what she was interested in now that her Glorious Purpose was fulfilled.
KidLoki was about to lock the room, when suddenly Miss Minutes appeared next to him.
- Hey! Um, who are you?
- I'm Miss Minutes, silly. Don't you remember me? I work for the TVA.
- Oh yeah? What are you doing here then? Came to prune us again?
- No, I am just looking what happens now that He Who Remains is absent.
- Well, you'd best ask Sylvie, she's in the library and I guess in charge of things now. I'm just exploring.
- Exploring what exactly?
- The citadel. It's not like there is anywhere else to explore, is there?
- Well, there is the timeline and millions of branched realities, of course
- Yeah, but even if I wanted to see them, how would I get there?
- Well, you could ask Sylvie to open a portal for you… or maybe you could create yourself your own tenpad, I hear you are quite an inventor.
- I wonder where you hear that from.
- Doesn't matter. Look in the desk, there are some drawings of the different models. Or you could always make your own.
- Thanks for the tip. By the way, why do you want me to make it? What's in it for you?
- I'm made to serve and service tenpads. Hate to see them unused. It's a real shame, ya know?
- I see. Thanks again, and now please leave me.
Miss Minutes seemed to want to protest, but the shrugged and disappeared. KidLoki did not like the quirk of her mouth he glimpsed before she left. He did not like it one bit. The idea of creating a couple of tenpads, though… He pulled an ottoman closer to the desk, helped Alligator Loki onto it, and started going through the stack of paper in the upper drawer.
