Loki

3. Loki

- Who are you, what’s your name?

He needed a moment to understand what was happening. It was just… just too much. The day that started in New York just kept going and it seemed like it would never end. He needed sleep, and possibly something to eat and then look at all of this with a fresh pair of eyes. Perhaps it would all go away like a nightmare. Or perhaps it would still be there, but at least he would be a little less exhausted and would have the chance to try and think straight.

- I’m sorry. I got a bit confused and probably overexcited. Yes, I am an analyst, but I am quite, uh, new. I just need… Do you know where I could go and maybe sleep a little? - Loki hoped against hope that it sounded less pathetic then it did to him. Weirdly enough, both the non-Mobius and non-Hunter B-15 relaxed a bit upon hearing this.
- Oh, that’s ok. It is always a bit confusing after a mission and a debrief first. - non-Mobius smiled at him warmly, - We are in a bit of a situation at the moment, as you can probably tell, so I don’t have the time to locate your room, so you’ll just have to use the spare at the moment. Take your 12 hours, then just report to the nearest patrol, I am sure there will be more work for you.

As instructed, he exited the archives and walked along a couple of corridors, getting further into what Loki presumed were living quarters, until he came upon a row of identical brown doors with “EMERGENCY RECREATION ROOM” printed on them. Loki pushed against one of the doors - it was unlocked. Inside was a cubicle-like room, with a spartan bed, a small table with a kettle on it and what he presumed to be a box of instant noodles. He got in and bolted the door.

Upon further inspection, he found a small shower cube behind a small door. The room seemed to be modelled after those budget hotels on Earth, he has heard of but never really stayed in. Well, he was staying in one now.\

He stood under the hot shower for what felt like hours, letting the water wash all the sweat and dirt off him. He looked at the pile of clothes left by the cubicle, sighed and dragged them under the water too - some washing was better than no washing, right? Some prince he was, laundering his own clothes. Humiliating. No, what was humiliating was how Sylvie treated him. He promised her to have her back, and he did. And what did he get back? A kiss of betrayal. Well, that was familiar, he too has tricked, no used people in the past, and now the fate has caught up with him.

Well, she did not kill him, that was something. Loki supposed, she could have done worse. Well, she has done worse, but not to him specifically. Should he have gone with Mobius? As tempting as that sounded, he did not think so. What he did was right: he supported a friend who needed him most at the time. This whole friend support thing was new to him, but he was fairly certain he did that one right. He just wished he had been thrown into the right timeline, with his Mobius in it. Loki wrung out his clothes and hung it up on the door to dry and laid down on the bed. They’d better be dry by the time he wakes up, Loki thought, can’t fight off invading armies in wet socks. And finally, he slept.
