Mobius
1. Mobius
Mobius sat on the floor of Judge Renslayer’s office, alone. She disappeared into the portal, apparently in search of answers. Mobius suspected she had some similar questions to those Sylvie had, but likely the intent of asking them was different.
He got up and relocated to the couch. Thinking about it, he was not sure what he was expecting from this meeting. It just seemed right to get back to the person who spent ages pretending to be his friend and hinting at more (When was that ‘more’ going to come? Was there even any ‘more’ or did he just like a hint of this fantasy, and she did not actively discourage it?), and then lied to him and pruned him without remorse? OK, she probably knew that he would not fully disappear but be sent to the void, perhaps she thought he might survive there, perhaps she simply did not care.
The question of what next, of course, was there, but Mobius felt that he needed a bit of time to figure out where he stood now. What was the best way to approach it? How would he have wanted to find out that he is, in fact, a variant and has been lied to his entire life?
He told Loki he did not get hung up on believe or not believe, and that was true. He did have a feeling sometimes that something was not quite right, perhaps not adding up fully. He thought it was all that timeline hopping, trying to investigate, put pieces together, now it seemed that there was more to it.
Mobius briefly considered calling Miss Minutes and asking her for his own file, then quickly scrapped the idea. Alerting her to what was happening was not the smartest move. He should have thought about it earlier, just asked Sylvie to get those memories for him. Why didn't he? Was that cowardice, or was he indeed so caught up in the moment? Truth be told, he was. It's funny how being in the void actually felt… refreshing. And here is the thing, chasing a loki has always been fun, but actually working with one was exhilarating. He had to laugh as he remembered the salad metaphor. How crazy was that? Turned to be right, though… And going on a run with Loki? Well, with multiple lokis, but his one especially, that was something else. Enough to forget your own woes, at any rate. And really, even if he found it where he came from, his timeline had been reset - there was nowhere to go back to.
Mobius sighed. He had no idea how things were going for Loki and Sylvie, and other lokis, no way to get news from them. Getting a few TenPads and pruning himself was, of course, an option, but with time flowing differently at the TVA, he was not sure if he would appear in the void at the right time. He'll need to come up with a better plan.
He could look through the files Ravonna had in her office, although he saw her packing presumably the most useful documents onto her bag, so whatever he would find in the remaining pages to try and piece together the information, he would be at a disadvantage. He'd still take a look, though. And then… well, then he could go back to his desk and, what, set it on fire? God, Loki would be so proud of him - not because it would be a great strategic move, but mostly because it had a good havoc to effort ratio. But maybe that was not the smartest thing to do, just like travelling back in time to ride a jet ski. "Would be fun, though!" - Loki's voice said in his head.
He got up and started looking through the files. None of them seemed to make much sense. Some seemed to go on about blocking timeline access and reset charges. One file caught Mobius' attention: it was titled 'how to define a prime variant, constant and evolving temporal aura patterns'. He took it along with the rest of the papers, closed the door of Ravonna's office and headed to his desk.
