Summary
He didn't know what to do anymore. Everything was gone. His family was gone, the Asgardians were gone. What does he do now?Thanos was coming, he knew that much. He guessed he would have to stick with these idiots if only to save them from Thanos's wrath. It was a suicide mission. He'd done that before, many times if he was being honest. How bad could this idea possibly be?Very bad, apparently. ( a continuation of Storms Make Trees Take Deeper Roots, could be read as a stand-alone but things probably wouldn't make sense, but you're more than welcome to try! ) Hello! Just wanted to add quickly that if theres anyone that would like to be co-writer with me in my next fanfic (or even this one if you want) I would love for you to help out. Chapter 6

Thanos watched the chaos Infront of him.

The avengers scrambled as they saw their teammates disappearing. Balance at last.

"Loki!" The Jotun next to him twitched, turning to face his brother. His eyes were as blue just like Thors. Thanos stepped back from the God of Thunder wanting to see what his next move would be. "Please, please snap out of it, I cant lose you again!" He shook his brother, eyes filled with desperation.

Thor suddenly lost feeling in his legs, he crumbled to the ground, holding Loki Infront of him as he watched his legs begin to dust.

His face was full of horror, he couldn't die, not when he almost had Loki back. "Brother, please!" Loki's face twitched, eyes flashing the smallest hints of green. "I'm sorry for everything, I know it doesn't mean much but I cannot bear the thought of dying without you knowing how sorry I am." He grabbed Loki's shoulders, shaking him again.

He could hear Steve's shout in the back, he turned to see the Soldiers best friend turn to dust, the gun the only thing left behind from him. Thor's breaths were coming out rugged, he was gonna die.

"Loki, please..." Loki's eyes locked into his, tears forming in the corners. The green began to slowly seep back into the blue haze.

Thanos from behind him straightened, his eyes widening, he clenched his fist, the mindstone gleaming. Loki let out a painful gasp, his eyes turning back to blue. Thor turned to Thanos, looking up at him. He could feel the dust catching up above his knees.

"Let go of him!" Thanos smiled at the desperation in Thor's voice. Thor turned back to Loki. "You're stronger then him, fight him brother, please. I dont want to leave if I'm not with you. Loki!" Loki's eyes flashed Blue and green. Thanos behind his tightening his fist.

Thor hardened his hold on Loki, making him look at him. "You cant let him win, not now." Loki's face steeled, the green returned, this time it didn't switch back. Thor let out a breath, reaching in to grab his brother but Loki pushed him away.

Loki got up, walking right in front of Thanos. Thanos must have thought he won because he let his hand loose, resting back by his side.

He smiled, patting Loki's cheek. He conjured a portal, leading Loki to it. "Come on son, lets leave them her-" His monologue was cut short as Loki blasted Thanos in the face, his seidr casting a bright green light. Thanos stumbled back, landing on the other side of the portal. The portal shutting him there.

Loki knew if Thanos wanted, he could open another one back, but he didn't need to. He had already won.

He ran back to Thor, whose legs by now were completely gone. Loki fell to the ground and grabbed Thor, pulling him close.

"I'm so sorry, Loki" Thor mumbled against Loki's chest. "I never meant to hurt you, I'm a terrible brother.." Loki shook his head.

"No you're not, you oaf. You're the best brother I could ask for." Thor hugged him tighter, his torso beginning to disintegrate. "Please don't go." Thor smiled at him, pulling back, resting his head against his forehead.

Loki saw the tears flooding down his brothers face. "It's gonna be okay, Loki." Loki shook his head, he could hear the Avengers in the back screaming asking for help as they saw their friends dust away. He couldn't look away from Thor.

Thor ripped off the red cloth around his wrist, thrusting it in Loki's hand. Loki held onto it, reaching back to hug him, for the last time.

"I'm sorry, Thor, I should have been better." Thor patted his back.

"Nobody could have beat him, Loki."

Loki wasn't just talking about Thanos, he was talking about everything.

Maybe if he held out sooner and didn't give in when he was under Thanos's control. What if he never fell?

"I love you brother, save our people and save yourself. Don't do anything to get yourself hurt." Thor mumbled, Loki held Thor's hands, watching as the dust caught up over Thors neck.

"I love you too, Thor..." Thor smiled, before his face fell, the dust fading him away, and soon Loki no longer had Thors hands in his palms, just the remaining dust the blew from the wind.

"Thor?" No answer.

Loki fell forward on his palms staring at the dead grass underneath him. Tears fell from his eyes. He lost Thor, forever.

He just got him back and just like that he was gone.

Loki scrambled up, running to grab storm breaker where it was on the ground. Right where Thanos stood.

He grabbed the large axe, holding it in his hands feeling the weight of it. Thor's hand holding this axe just a few minutes prior and now he was dead.

Dead

Loki heard screeching from behind him, he turned to see the last remaining chitauri coming at them. The captain noticed too, wiping his red eyes and looking at Loki.

He nodded at him, running towards the herd, Loki stretched out his palm and gave a boost to the captain as he jumped up high, bringing his shield down to hit two of them right in the face.

Loki felt rage build up, he could feel the anger in his veins. He lost his whole family. He lost the only person he had left.

His eyes turned green as the last remaining seidr poured out of him, leaving the air thick and hot.

Loki ran at the chitauri with a roar, he held Thor's axe in his hand swinging it around and shooting a lighting bolt right at the chitauri. The blue lighting curled around a green bolt.

The strong current knocking down the surrounding Chitauri. He didn't know how many he killed, but he needed this. He saw the captain back away from the fight, not needing to help as Loki rampaged through them all himself.

Loki let out a scream as a chitauri dug its nails into Loki's face, scratching the skin of his cheek to his jaw. Loki slashed its stomach watching as the last few chitauri fell to the ground.

He hadn't realized it had begun to rain. The power from the Axe most likely.

Loki walked away from the rotten smell of the bodies on a patch of unoccupied grass. He fell onto his back, exhausted.

Tears poured down his cheeks, he began hiccuping, holding Thor's Axe in his palm as the rain washed over him. Almost gently.

He lost everyone.

For the first time since the void,

Loki felt truly alone.
