Chapter 3

There was nothing extraordinary that has happened in the days that have passed. Duties and the spectacle of the prompt and circumstance of having a prince in the remote areas of the Nine Realms filled the Prince's daily activities. He visited and heard the cries of his people. They needed so much especially the crops have failed and drought has seemed to last longer than anticipated. He provided provisions to the villages giving them wheat, medicine and other supplies to sustain and help them recover. All was well.

A week has passed and he has yet to return to visit the woman he found on top of the hill. To be honest, he almost forgot about her situation. The healer was in charge of her and she will send a messenger when the woman awakes.

He lay down on his bed, the flickering light of the lamp filled his room. So far from the comfort and elegance of Asgard. The sound of crickets and shushed conversion shared between his men can be heard as they passed by his room.

The prince has always known that his father preferred his older brother than he. All the Nine Realms know. His father and his brother, Thor shared plenty of commonalities. Their father prioritized his older brother's education over his. He was always fine with that. His brother was the heir. It was just common sense that all attention was to be placed on Thor. He was everything a future king should be. He was strong, smart and loyal to their people.

This raven haired prince knew that his mother took pity on him, always being left inside the library reading majority of the day, when his older brother was summoned by their Father for his training. Frigga knew Loki had magic in him, the day he was born. She felt it. She nurtured his mind and skills, teaching him everything she knew. Loki absorbed everything she taught him from elixirs, to medicine and even at combat. Loki had his mother and Thor had his father. Two of the greatest figures to have ever lived, mentoring the future leaders of the realm.

There was a rapid knock on his door, "Sir, it's the healer. She sent word that the Lady has woken."

Finally, answers. He thought to himself as he wore his shoes. He stood up and walked to the door. He was greeted by the guard, "Lead the way." The prince followed the guard out of his villa and onto a small building.

As they reached a wooden door, he paused for a few seconds, listening for anything. Nothing, it was dead silent. He turned the knob and went inside the room. The healer looked back at the door and saw that the prince had arrived.

"Your Highness, good evening." She bowed her head in greeting.

Loki nods in return. "She has woken?" He said.

The healer walked towards the bed where the lady with dark brown hair lay. She sat by the bed and touched the woman's shoulder. Loki saw the softest dark brown eyes he had ever seen. She sat up on the bed with the assistance of the healer.

"Leave us." He suddenly ordered. The healer complied and walked out of the room carrying garments and some herbs. The lady in bed and the dark haired prince looked at each other, not even for a moment breaking eye contact.

"Are you well? What do you remember?" He asked as he grabbed the nearby stool. Giving a good distance between the two of them.

Her eyes followed his every moment, "I know who you are." She said as she looked down on her hands.

His brows furrowed," And who am I?" He says and he placed his arms on his legs, moving forward, leaning closer to the woman.

"You're Loki of Asgard, Son of Odin and Frigga, brother to Thor." He leaned back to his chair.

"All of the realm knows who I am, but not many knows what I look like. So tell me, pet, how do you know me?." He kept starring at her, and she too.

"I.... I....don't know. I just know who you were. I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Amelia. The healer said, ``You found me on top of the hill." He nodded in agreement. She was waiting for him to say anything.

" I do not remember much about who I am or what I was doing there. Must have hit my head or something. Did I have anything with me when you found me?" She asked curiously at the man sitting across the room. He seemed disinterested in the situation.

"No, you did not have anything near you or on your person, besides the clothes that you were wearing, when I found you." Loki said. He looked out of the window. The girl looked down at her hands and mumbled, "For what it's worth, thank you for coming to my aid, Your Highness."

"It is my princely duty to rescue damsels in distress." He said so nonchalantly that surprised her. She looked up at him as he stood from where he was sitting, ready to take his leave.

"Wait! I know it's late and I do not wish to bother you anymore than I have. But I have yet to full recover. I can barely stand or walk around. Will you come visit me again tomorrow? If that is fine, of course." Anxiety started rising in her chest, afraid he would leave.

Why waste time with a girl who has no use for him? Her multiple thoughts racing inside her head. He doesn't want to bother, look at him, he looks so bored. Why did you have to ask that out loud? This is stupid. She liked having him in her room, there was comfort in having his presence nearby. But he was a stranger for goodness sake! One she has only met! But he saved her didn't he? He would harm her, right?

Loki stared at the girl, lost in her own world, "Yes, I will be back tomorrow. Get some rest." He suddenly said breaking the concentration and train of thought of the brown eyed girl. He was surprised in himself that he agreed so freely in her request. She gave him the biggest of smiles. He just nodded and he started walking towards the door. "Good night, Amelia." He said as he left.

There were two things Loki was absolutely sure. First, he was scared. His heart had been beating erratic since their eyes met. And second, he was determined to unravel the plot this Amelia had. Memory lost and feigned innocence was child's play. As he walked back to his villa, he started organizing his tasks for tomorrow. This is going to be interesting. .
