The sun was shining this morning, and Peter promptly decided that it was a good day for playing tea party in the garden. Of course, his daddy had to tag along- he couldn’t throw a tea party by himself! Even if Bucky didn’t seem to be enjoying himself quite as much as the rest of his guests. Maybe he wasn’t cool enough for tea parties.
Peter arranged his stuffies neatly, lining them up next to each other and counting on his fingers to make sure absolutely no one was left out of his exclusive event. Once finished, Peter looked over to see Bucky helping him arrange the little cups and plates, and he couldn’t help but smile. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all.
He glanced around at their supplies, humming quietly as he realised they’d forgotten the main part- tea!
“Daddy- Be right back! Forgot juice!” The boy calls, quickly running back to the house and ignoring Bucky’s pleas for him to slow down. That was his mistake really- after all, daddy does know best, and maybe if he had listened he wouldn’t have slipped on the tiled floor of the kitchen and scraped his knee.
It didn’t take long for Bucky to hear the wailing coming from inside the house, and he could’ve easily guessed what had happened. He came inside to see Peter clutching his knee, cheeks wet with tears and pant leg rolled up to expose his injury. It wasn’t too bad- enough to upset the boy, though probably only deep enough to sting.
“Oh, baby..” Bucky murmured, lifting the boy into his arms and carrying him over to the sink. “What am I going to do with you, hm? You’re just too fast!” He smiles, wiping the boys cheeks with his thumb and placing a kiss atop of his head. “Let daddy clean you up, then we can pick out a band-aid and get back to the party, yeah? We can’t keep everyone waiting.” He soothes, stroking Peter’s hair before grabbing their first aid kit.
Peter began to calm down once Bucky arrived, soothed by daddy’s presence. He knew that he would be okay, Bucky would fix him up. Having his scrape cleaned up hurt a little, but he only winced a tiny bit, and daddy praised him for being so brave. He picked out a hello kitty band-aid, and blushed when Bucky kissed his knee after putting it over his wound.
“Shall we get back to our guests then, doll?” Bucky asked, lifting him onto his hip and grabbing some juice from the fridge.
Peter agreed, letting his daddy carry him outside to finish his tea party. Maybe daddy was cool after all.
