Chapter 20

It was finally saturday, the day I can take Wanda out on a date. This past week has been amazing with her and well with Yelena and Pepper as well but today is about Wanda.

I have planned for this date since the day I asked her out, it was only a matter of time before I could officially organize this.

I already prepared the things and sneakily hid it in the trunk of my car. I already took care of the food that I'll pick up on the way to our destination.

Since I've already prepared everything, the only thing left to do is wait til 4pm.
I texted Wanda to be ready at 4:30 so we can get there and set it up as early enough to see the sunset.

-----------

The hours I slept on my bed seemed to pass by like minutes. At the realization of the time, I sprang to my feet and quickly changed in to a red hoodie and some jeans.

Braiding my hair, I jogged in the direction of Wanda's room and knocked. I felt my hands getting sweaty but there was nothing to be nervous about.

Wanda opened the door, revealing herself to be wearing a red shirt paired with a black skirt and black knee high boots.

I stared at her adrmiring and taking in the beauty I saw infront of me.

"You look beautiful, stunning even." I said longingly.

"We have matching colors." She giggled.

"Before we head there, we're going to take a minor detour." I said.

"And where is that?" She said raising her eyebrow.

"You'll see, You'll see." I smirked.

"Shall we princess? your chariot awaits." I said extend my elbow for her to take.

"We shall." She laughed recalling the last time this happened.

We walked towards the elevator and got in. I remember the first time we met and this was the place, this was the place they first met, talked and cherished each others presence.

We went to my car drove to the place I had our food prepared which was at my parents house.

"Wait, where are we?" She asked confused.

"Since this is our date, I'd first like you to meet my parents before we go." I smiled

"Wow, I'm already the parents huh?" She laughed nervously.

"Lucky you, no need to be nervous." I chuckled.

"Nat they are your parents, how can I not be nervous." She stated.

"Nonsense, they'll love you." I said opening the door.

"Natasha welcome home, and this must be Wanda, please call me Melina." Melina said gesturing us to come in.

"Your father is in the kitchen." Melina told me.

I found him at the table, he greeted me by ruffling my hair and handed me the basket containing some peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches, a few beverages and some strawberries with chocolates.

"Is she with Melina?" He asked.

"Yep, wanna meet her, I'm heading there right now." I said.

"Yeah let's go."

---------------

After meeting my parents, they surely love Wanda and they practically claimed her as their second daughter. They even managed to convince me to bring her and her brother on my birthday and all the other holidays.

"Where are you taking me?" She asked.

"You'll see." I said not ruining the surprise.

We arrived at a local park, I managed to set up the blank under a tree on a small hill before sundown. Good thing there were several lamps around us so we don't have to sit in pure darkness.

"Nat this is beautiful." She said.

"I chose this exact spot because my parents use to take me here before they died." I smiled.

"I used to go here everytime I'm upset, now I get to share this with you." I said looking at her.

"I love it." She smiled.

"I'm glad you do, now come here and let's eat." I said patting the spot next to me urging her to sit.

She sat next to me with her guitar, as we ate the food my parents packed us, we watched the sunset admiring the beautiful sunset as the sun dipped below the horizon, the last gasp of beauty before the death of the day.

We looked up at the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity, the evening sun cast no longer shadows on the ground, the pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky.

While I admired the view, Wanda was doing was the same. Wanda adored the entirety of Nat's side profile, from the faint freckles to the strong jawline to the dainty nose. Nat's waves were tucked behind her ear casually, and Wanda couldn't help but consider her perfect.

"Has anyone told you it's quite rude to stare?" I smirked as she noticed the Wanda's gaze through her peripheral vision.

Wanda quickly snapped her head away, blushing at her capture. She moved to imitate me, leaning on my hands as she cleared her throat uncomfortably.

"I didn't say you had to stop," I spoke, realizing that I enjoyed Wanda's gaze.

"Oh, um... sorry," Wanda replied, clearly flustered.

"Why are you apologizing?" I chuckled.

Wanda smiled at the sound of Nat's laugh, and she found herself blushing once more.

They stared at the night sky in a peaceful silence for just over a minute. I suddenly walked my car to get one of my telescopes, Wanda tilting her head to why she brought it.

"The stars look better here," I commented as I held the telescope in my hand.

"I wouldn't know where to look," Wanda admitted.

"I've always found Astronomy to be more difficult than others." She admitted once more.

"Well, let me show you," I invited, motioning for Wanda to press her eye against the end.

"My mom used to point out them out to me when I was little." I said.

I supported the telescope as she gently nudged it towards the eastern area of the sky.

"So, if you look east, you'll see Taurus. It sort of looks like a horn, considering its Latin translation is 'the Bull'. It brings in the winter constellations," I explained.

"And if you'll look to the west, you'll notice Cygnus, which sets with the summer constellations." I pointed.

Wanda used her fingertips to adjust the telescope, but she accidentally grazed it with mine's. Neither of them moved for a second, too afraid of losing the moment.

Very gently, I placed my warm hand over Wanda's to tilt the telescope eastward. After doing so, I flipped over Wanda's hand to press our palms together.

I carefully laced Wanda's fingers with my own before setting our forearms to rest at the blanket.

Nat watched as a smile crept upon Wanda's lips, knowing that the she had gone ecstatic.

"Have you found them?" I spoke softly, her thumb slowly caressing the back of Wanda's hand.

"Yes," Wanda gasped as she studied the constellations in awe. "Wow... They're beautiful."

I smiled as I watched Wanda's fascination from behind the telescope.

"Beautiful, indeed," I agreed, though I wasn't referring to the stars.

"Nat?" She spoke up, looking at me.

"Yes darling?"

"What does it mean?"

"What does what mean?" I asked confused to what she meant.

"The one you call me."

"You meant "Malysh" ?"

"Yeah."

"It's a russian endearment." I chuckled.

"I like it." She smiled going back to watching the stars.

"What does "milacik" mean?" I said trying to put an accent to it.

"Darling." She said.

"Yes malysh?" I asked.

"Nat it means darling." She laughed.

"Oh, now I feel stupid." I laughed.

"But there's one question I need to ask to finish this night." I said.

"And that is?" She said as she stopped looking at the stars, setting the telescope down."

I took a deep breath, rehearsing the line in my head.

"Will you make me the happiest girl ever and be my girlfriend?"

"Which one should I answer first." She laughed.

"How bout both." I laughed.

"Well to anwer both of those questions, Yes Nat I will." She smiled.
