Attack Without Answers
The formation of the Justice League had screwed over Hydra.
Unlike the Avengers, lead by Captain Dickhead, there wasn't a way to manipulate them, to screw them over so that they would make things easier for Hydra.
Now bases were captured by alarming rate. Many higher ups disappeared, only to show up in court later on.
In other words, they were falling.
But Hydra had a plan. Ever since the fall of Sokovia, they gained a new ambition after the failure of Project Insight.
And that vision was lead by Tyler Hayward.
A weapons enthusiast, and a high infiltrate on the first incarnation of SHIELD, he was particularly interested on Artificial Intelligence.
He particular liked the idea of Ultron. So much potential, so much...destruction power.
If tha AI hadn't gone rouge, then the Avengers would already have destroyed them completely. However, the Mind Stone gave them one final gift with that. As it gave Hydra more time to hide.
When Hive killed most of the Hydra heads on his rampage. Tyler Hayward soon became the top commander of the organization.
At first he was trying to get into SWORD, but backed away. Phil Coulson had proven to be much more vigilant when it came to moles than the past leaders he used to work with.
He tried to infiltrate SHIELD, and become the new head. But Fury came back from the dead and took that spot. Soon turned out that the so called SHIELD was a farce to keep Rogers and his cronies contained, or make them see the error of the ways, which only worked for Sam Wilson.
Still....Steve Rogers kept giving Hydra gifts. With his delusional need to be the hero of the story, he took the heat to himself, and allowed Hydra to be free.
The year he kept being the main force of heroes, was a bliss. It allowed Tyler to do so much and keep it hidden.
Then Doomsday happened. Rogers screwed up, and the Justice League defeated the monster. SHIELD dissolved into SWORD, and Rogers, Romanoff, Barton, and Maximoff went back to being fugitives.
Now with the Justice League around, they had to hurry before they caught up.
Yet, during those days of failure, Tyler had a clear image.
He thought the main threats that Hydra faced where on the shape of highly powered super heroes. Thor, Superman, Wonder Woman....Iron Man.
But on the failed mission on the Atlantic. That day...
That day he leaned the true threat of Hydra. The ruler of Earth they had to take down. Someone that they couldn't rank on a scale 1 to 10.
And that someone, was heading straight towards them.
Tyler smiled, he wanted to see him personally.
"ALERT TO ALL PERSONEL. WE ARE UNDER ATTACK, THIS IS NOT A TEST, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK. PREPARE TO ENGAGE THE ENEMY !"
The Hydra base was on a former petrol station close to the Florida coast.
Boats were unawere what was about to happen. They continued to do what they were doing peacefully.
But then, the water started shining bright blue.
Waves got bigger, and soon al captains stirred their ships away from the glow.
A giant fin crossed the surface, shining blue. Soon followed by others.
Then it finally showed it's face .
Godzilla.
"GWOAR !"
Tyler ran towards the chopper as Godzilla came in.
"Come on everyone, let's go !"
Godzilla stood up and started firing at the base.
Men tried to fire at Godzilla but it was uslesss. With a swipe of his claw, they were gone.
Fighter jets tried to do some damage, but all they did was anger the monster much more. He shot his nuclear breath at them, destroying the planes.
His accosiate, General Hale, entered the chopper.
"Your daughter ?"
"Already on another chopper. I swear I don't know what to do with that girl."
"No time for that !"
The chopper took off just as Godzilla started using his atomic breath to destroy the area.
Tyler chuckled and sat on the chopper relaxed.
"You seem so happy about this." Hale mumbled.
"Of course I am. This is going great."
"He is catching up to us more and more !" Hale yelled.
"I know that."
"So what are we gonna do ?"
"The peaces needed that we need are already on the underground level. It would take a miracle for him to find them before they are assembled and the time comes."
"The time for what ?"
"For Hydra, to become the apex species, once and for all."
Godzilla stood up with full strength as the base burned down into ashes.
"GRWOAR !"
He didn't noticed that under water, traveled a glowing red eye.
On the next day.
The Justice League had been called to examine the destrucion.
Bruce tried looking around for clues.
"Any signal Alfred ?"
"Extreme nuclear energy Master Bruce. Just like on those Hydra ships last year."
"So it could have been caused by the same thing."
"Yes it is possibly."
Bruce grumbled as he lifted more wreckage.
"That thing has been targeting hydra bases as of lately."
"As if something is provoking it." Diana said, coming besides him.
"What in the world could provoke this.."
"What in the world could even make this Bruce. You know there is a lot of things that we simply don't know about."
"Doesn't mean I have to like it." Bruce mumbled.
Clark flew to them.
"No survivors left here. All victims were Hydra agents...pretty messed up people actually."
"Whatever did this, wanted this whole thing gone." Bruce said. "What concerns me is what did Hydra have here, that they wanted it gone."
"Hydra has a track history of experimenting with things that men should not be touching upon." Diana said. "Just remember what happened with the Stones."
Victor Stone, they had found him on a Hydra base...what they did to him...Bruce can't even bring himself to describe it.
"Poor boy." Clark lamented. "We also know that Hydra has been back on Sokovia lately."
"We still don't know what they want there. Why are they searching the city."
"One would think it has to be about Ultron." Diana said.
"Vision deleted all of his presence online, and his sentries were destroyed. Left to nothing." Clark said. "Is there really something to do about that ?"
"Sokovia is also where Hydra successfully powered up the Maximoffs, but one would imagine they have more bases like that. It also doesn't explain what they want there."
Bruce sighted, they had a lot going on.
They had no idea where Hydra is. Luthor is still missing, so are Rogers and his cronies. Then they got this thing that is destroying all the bases on a matter not even Clark could.
And Tony...there is also that. Even if he knew where he was, and that he wasn't alone. Bruce hoped he didn't remain down there all this time.
The world needs Iron Man, it's their best defender. He might not be the symbol of hope Superman is, have the power of Thor but his brain, that is something that can't be compared.
"I guess there is nothing more for us to see here. Let's head back."
They boarded the Bat jet and went back to the compound.
"Man, I'm so tired." Bruce complained.
Clark sat besides his boyfriend and snuggled with him.
"At least you can leave Gotham more. Nice change."
"Yeah well Harley's been making the Joker's life a living hell, foiling all of his plans just to screw him over. I really should thank her. Except of course she hates my guts so."
"She certainly did help by controlling the Rouges with Ivy."
"Just leave them with Carter, she seems to get along with them."
"Hehe. Well, I gotta take a bath. Get all the salt water out of my hair from all the diving. I really need to ask an Atlantean when I see them, what do they do with their hear on the sea all the time."
Clark left, and Bruce sat back.
"Why are you looking at me like that Diana ?"
Diana raised her eyebrow. "Bruce, when are you gonna ask the question ?"
"What question ?"
"The one that will stop making you boyfriends, and make you husbands instead."
"Oh Diana...I kinda regret telling you."
"You said you needed to tell a friend, and I was the best friend you got."
Bruce sighted.
He has been thinking of asking Clark for his hand in marriage. To become his husband.
But he always chickens out. Bruce has never really been on a serious relationship before. The closest thing was...whatever the thing with Selina was.
But Clark is amazing, and he doesn't want to screw things up.
"For the record I am glad you trusted me with this Bruce. I really am. He'll say yes. Imagine you can have a wonderful wedding, just like Stephen had with Christine two months ago."
"That was a good day, their smiles were great....but still..."
"Just think of it..you both deserve to be happy."
"And what about you ?" Bruce asked her.
"Me ? I got no time for that.."
"Oh please. I have Clark, you just said about Stephen. T'Challa has his own fiancee, Scott got back with Hope, and there is that whole, we are/we are not dating thing going with Carol and Daisy. I think you have time to find yourself a man."
"Well no one has come to me."
"No..I notice you spend a lot of time with Thor lately. Who is single by the way."
He smirked as Diana lightly blushed at the God of Thunder's name.
"He's quite handsome." He added.
"Thor is....I don't think I can love someone after Steve, Bruce."
"Diana. Steve Trevor was a wonderful man, and the memories you have with him will be forever. But he's gone, and as you know from the incident in 1984, he can't come back. I think he would like you to move on."
"I....like you said, we'll see about that. Thor is still rebuilding Asgard. And don't forget, he is still searching for Loki."
"Well.....For the record. You two would make a good couple. Hell two demigods together...no one would be able to face you."
Before they continued, Clark got inside again.
"We are arriving, and Rhodey is calling for everyone to the meeting room. I guess he found out something."
"Did he say about what ?"
"He says someone might know about the identity of the Hydra base destroyer."
Bruce got up at that.
"Finally, let's go."
