Chapter 9
“I'm gonna die.”
“No, you're not.”
“Yes, I am! What if-”
“You've said what if about two hundred thousand times in the last ten minutes.” They were interrupted by the door opening behind him. “Oh thank god! You deal with his dumb ass. I can not.” Lila said moving for the door as Tony stepped further into the room.
“What's he on about?” Th older man asked to which Lila and Peter turned to him.
“I'm gonna die!”
“He's being over dramatic!”
Tony blinked frowning at them before smiling softly at Peter as he looked at himself in the mirror trying to tie his tie. Lila sighed looking from Peter to Tony.
“Just tell him he's fine. Cause he is!” She yelled to make sure Peter heard.
“I'm not!” He yelled back as she left the room door closing behind her.
Tony stood for a moment watching Peter struggle with his tie. His black suit jacket laying on the bed. He smiled when Peter groaned arms falling to his sides.
“Where's May? Haven't you two done this before?” He asked as he walked up to Peter staring at the knotted mess around his neck.
“She's probably with Happy sitting, waiting for everything to start. It's starting soon I'm sure Pepper and Cassie will be in here soon to tell me to hurry my ass up.” Peter said as Tony untied the mess of fabric.
“Yeah, Pepper said ten minutes before she bursts in here to drags you out and to the alter herself.” Tony smiled having seen Pepper in Harley's room down the hall not long ago.
Harley had Bucky and Sam in his room. He'd just popped his head in to see how he was doing before coming here to Peter's room. Peter seemed to be sweating hands twitching at his sides.
“Kid, you gotta take a deep breath here. Everything's gonna be fine. If something does happen it'll be something to laugh about in twenty years.” Tony said with a smile but Peter just kept his eyes on Tony's hands that weaved and tied the fabric around his neck.
“What if he doesn't-”
“He loves you kid. Dear god it is sickening how happy and in love you two are.” Tony said finishing up Peter's tie. “Now tuck your shirt in and put your jacket on.” Tony steps back going to sit on the chair watching in the mirror as Peter does as he says.
Peter and Harley had decided to where opposite colors. Harley wanted to wear white and Peter didn't care unless Harley was happy. He wore all black. Their groomsmen, and women, wore the opposite color. Harley's were Shuri, Lila, Cass, and AJ. Peter's were MJ, Ned, Cassie, and Nebula who tried her very best to decline but he wouldn't let her.
Tony watched Peter turn back to him a nervous smile holding his arms out as if asking if he looked alright. Tony sat there for a moment. He smiled willing the tears away trying not to cry.
“Why are you making that face? Do I look bad? Is there something wrong with my suit? Oh god do I have a pimple?!” He turned back to the mirror only making Tony laugh standing from the bed.
“No, kid you look...” Tony paused and Peter turned tilting his head in that adorable kid like confusion. “You look grown up. Like an adult who doesn't need me anymore.” Tony said wiping a tear from his face trying to hide it as running a hand through his hair.
“I still need you. Always will.” Peter then looked away anxiously. It would be fine. It would be fine, all he had to do was ask. It wouldn't be awkward if he said no. he'd just get May to instead. “Um, Tony... I...” Peter trailed off nervously and Tony tilted his head to catch the kids eyes.
“What's up underoos?” He smiled and Peter took a deep breath.
“If you don't want to that's fine. I don't know why I waited this long to ask actually. You can say no! May can do it if you don't want to. It's totally fine! I-” Tony interrupted Peter with a toothy laugh.
“Peter just ask.”
“Do you want to walk me down the isle?”
The silence was so loud. Tony had a look of shock on his face. He'd had the impression that May was walking Peter down the isle after Sam and Bucky walked Harley down.
To hear this. To have the kid he'd always thought of as a son ask this of him. He'd thought he'd only get to walk Morgan down the isle. If he lasted that long with the whole putting his life in mortal danger all the god damn time.
“May, she was supposed to though.” Tony said wondering how she'd feel if he did.
“She still can if you don't want to-!” Peter rushed out anxiously.
“No I just-” He cut himself off with a deep breath. “I won't be stepping on her toes if I do want to?” Peter's face burst into a large gin.
“Really? You will?”
“I won't be offending May will I?”
“No! She said it was a great idea. I love her so much she raised me but...” He trailed off before looking up at Tony with a small loving smile. “It's my dads job to walk me down the isle.”
Tears finally broke unexpectedly from Tony's eyes. He pulled Peter into a hug which the boy returned digging his face into Tony's navy suit.
"It would be my honor kiddo."
"I can't do this.”
“Yes, you can.”
“No, no I can't. It's too hard I'm not going.”
Harley threw up his arms as Sam rolled his eyes getting up off the couch to help him with the stupid flower pin. It was great this whole thing was beautiful but there was too many little things that Sam didn't like. He liked simple, simple is what he and Bucky were going to do. He shouldn't be thinking about his own wedding when it was his sons he was at right now.
Bucky groaned in annoyance. “It's just a flower Harley I bet Tony is doing Peter's right now because he's struggling too.” The man was leaning against the doorway to the balcony looking out toward the forest where the reception will be held.
Sam was busy also trying his best to pin the flower to Harley's lapel. It was a small red rose the same color as the cake, no one was allowed to wear red, or black, or white, but that's not the point. The point is that it's fucking beautiful.
“Didn't you go to a school dance?” Bucky walked toward the two as Sam pricked his finger for the fifth time.
“That was a long time ago Barnes, get off my ass.” Sam said pushing the rose into Bucky's chest so he could try.
“I will never get off your ass.” He responded then smacked Sam's ass as the man passed him moving toward the couch.
“Disgusting.”
“Shut your face child.”
Harley got stabbed twice, probably on purpose, before Bucky finally got the rose on his jacket the right way. He stepped back and looked Harley over with a smile.
“You look sharp kid.”
“No one says sharp Buck. You look amazing Harls.” Sam said standing with a smile on his face.
“Thanks dads.” He grinned widely.
Harley walked down the isle first. He smiled seeing his friends, his family, all watching him. His arms hooked with Sam's and Bucky's as he looked on ahead.
The venue was a few large log cabins in the woods. The trees were spread out nicely so wooden benches were able to be placed between them. Lights were hung perfectly on the trees to light up the isle. The sun wasn't quite setting yet but it was getting close, that perfect golden hour.
There was an archway at the end made of greenery and flowers that matched the floral arrangements on the end of each bench. Lila, Shuri, Cass, and AJ stood on one side of the alter Ned, MJ, Cassie, and Nebula stood on the other side. Sam and Bucky gave him hugs before sitting down next to Emma who had a basket, no empty from flower petals. Morgan, with another empty basket, sat with Pepper and May on the other side of the isle, empty seat left for Tony next to his daughter.
Harley got a comforting hand hold by Lila who was behind him and a pat on the shoulder from Shuri who was standing behind her. The music kept going as Peter and Tony appeared. Peter and Harley's eyes connected half way down the isle giving each other smiles.
He's so pretty. Peter thought his eyes not leaving Harley not even as Tony gave him a peck on the forehead and sat down in his seat.
You're the most gorgeous thing I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Harley thought as Peter stepped up in front of him.
Peter did not pay attention to whatever the the officiant was saying. Then everything seemed to be silent and he realized they had asked him something. He had been to busy paying attention to Harley.
“Peter?” Harley smirked at him seeming to understand why he wasn't paying attention. “Vows Peter.” Harley said and he went wide eyed moving to pull a piece of paper from his jacket.
“Sorry, Jesus, I- uh- you're just...” he finally got the crumpled paper out of his jacket. Harley just kept smirking. “You look amazing.” Harley blushed slightly hand coming up to cover his smiling face in an attempt not to laugh.
“You look gorgeous too darlin'.” Harley responded with no one could keep the grins off their faces.
They both said their vows with shaky voices and a few laughs between everyone. Peter spoke about how Harley always brought out the best in him. How he always pushed him to do what was right. How they always got on each others nerves but he liked Harley's snark and sarcasm.
Harley talked about Peter always needing to be saved while the latter shook his head. Harley then got sweet and said he'd never loved anyone like he'd loved Peter and he had dated more than a few people before Peter. After that he listed out all the things he loved about Peter, good and bad. Peter was as red as a traffic light by the time Harley stopped talking.
“The rings?” The priest asked after. Lila otherwise known as the most responsible one with anything other than herself. She handed the box with the two rings inside to Harley.
They put the rings on each others fingers smiling as they had been the whole ceremony. The cold metal made Peter run his thumb over the ring before putting Harley's on.
“Peter Parker do you take Harley Keener to be your husband in sickness and in health, for better or for worse?” The officiant asked and Peter nodded with a smile.
“I do.” Harley smiled squeezing Peter's hands in his.
“And do you Harley Keener take Peter Parker to be your husband in sickness and in health, for better or for worse.” The officiant asked to which Harley faked a hesitation.
“Keener I swear to god.” Peter growled out making Harley nod biting back a laugh.
“Yes, yes I do. I do.” Harley smirked as Peter mouthed a 'you're awful' back at him.
“You may now kiss the groom.” The officiant concluded to which the two smiled.
Harley moved his hand to cup Peter's face his other hand swooping around to the small of his husbands back. Peter moved his arms around Harley's neck smiling into the kiss as Everyone around them cheered.
Peter feels like it will forever be the happiest day of his life. So far at least who knows what the future will bring.
The reception was full of food drinks, too many drinks for some, and speeches. It was sweet, and funny, and when it was time for Harley to go up after Peter had been all sweet he stood there for a second.
“Well, I don't think I can top that.” He glanced at Peter as he leaned on the podium. “He's better with all the mushy sweet stuff anyways, a little awkward but still better at it. Took me a long time to write my vows. Not because I couldn't find what to say just because it made me cringe. Y'all are so sweet so hopefully that makes up for this.” There were laughs and he took a deep breath. “Well, I'll be the first to ask when you two are getting married?” Harley pointed to Sam and Bucky who sat at the table next to the podium.
Peter, Tony, May, Ned, MJ, Lila, and Shuri also sat at the table. Everyone seemed confused looking at Sam and Bucky who shook there heads. Sam tried to bit his lip to stop himself from smiling also covering his mouth with his hand. Bucky did not seem impressed instead glaring at Harley who smiled teasingly.
"Yeah, next wedding we'll be at is Mr. Captain America!” There were a few cheers as Sam shook his head not taking his hand away from his face. “I'm not in anyway taking away from my wedding just telling everyone that Bucky's a sweet little teddy bear.” Bucky blushed but continued to glare at Harley. “Yeah, you should have seen his proposal. Not the most romantic I've seen but for Bucky it was amazing.” He smirked again and Bucky looked away covering his face as Sam smiled up at Harley.
The rest of the reception was quite uneventful until a drunk Peter Quill decided to knock over a decorative tree and then a table. It was funny because he didn't break anything, not anything expensive at least.
After that they were on their way to their honeymoon resort that Tony paid for. Not that he hadn't paid for all of it. Sam and Bucky had argued but Tony did not listen one bit. It was an over water villa in Jamaica.
On the second night Peter stood out on the deck watching the stars. Harley came up behind him no longer than twenty minutes after he steps out there. He wraps his arms around Peter's torso and places his chin on his shoulder.
“Whatcha thinkin' 'bout darlin'?” Harley whispers into his ear as Peter covers his husbands arms with his own.
“Thinking about how I'm so god damn lucky. Not just you but everyone.” Harley smiled against his neck before pressing a kiss there.
“I am too. Hoping I'll get a bit luckier.” Peter laughed as Harley's hands lowered.
“You're awful.”
“You love it.”
“Nah, love you though."
