Alternative Plot Idea for Dragonball-Z: Goku still dies in Cell games but can't return for seven years due to a penalty.
Bonus Plot Ideas:
1. Tony and Bulma meet at some point, and end up completing due to their egos and a need to be the "smartest" investor (Shuri wins).
2. Videl thoughtlessly does something cruel that hurts Goku and she can't easily fix. (Possibility based on But You Named Me Gohan series: Somehow Videl finds and releases pictures to the press (probably accidentally) not knowing that they are pedophilic pictures of Goku taken by Grandpa Gohan. (This version of Grandpa Gohan is also in HFIL for this.) Goku relives and tries to deal with old feelings that he never knew how to dealt with. They all deal with the aftermath and not knowing how to help their friend/loved one. Gohan is pissed at Videl, and gets very protective of his father. Videl feels awful. Goku gets help working through his emotions from Dick. Goku also spends some time on Asgard with Gohan to get a break and process. They do work it out, and Goku talks to Chi-Chi and Goten about everything. Videl can redeem herself somehow.)
3. Alternately, Videl still messes up badly (reason could be anything). Gohan is still pissed at her. Gohan asks Loki to cast a spell to let everyone know the truth about the Cell games for a week, and Videl lives in that world having a horrible time as the daughter of a fraud and the woman who left the real hero. Videl is humbled by the experrience.
4. Gohan and Goten bond again. Slowly, Gohan also reconnects with the others.
5. Pan spends a day with Damian. It goes about as well as could be expected.
