1. Bucky is the cute barista with the man bun, and Tony is the coffee obsessed office man that Bucky finds familiar but can’t quite place. After all, who would even imagine that someone like Tony fucking Stark would go into his little coffee shop just for coffee. It’s not like the coffee is any good, so why would he come here specifically?? #TonyIsSmittenWithBucky #BuckyIsTotallyOblivious
2. Tony is a straight-A student, two years younger than his seventeen year old peers, but adorable in his large black-rimmed glasses. At least, slacker Bucky Barnes thinks so, with his leather jacket and an unlit cigarette hanging from his lips as he watches the cute fifteen year old pouring over books during lunch, a half eaten tray of food beside him. He never thought he’d go for the nerdy type, but boy do those red, plump lips mess with Bucky’s libido. #BuckyIsABadBoyThatWantsTheNerd #TonyIsAHarriedStraightAStudentThat’sObliviousToBuckyUntilHeMakesAMoveOnHim
3. Bucky thinks it’s funny how serious Tony takes their rivalry, which had developed after the whole civil war thing had passed and the rest of the avengers had been pardoned. Tiny (no, that’s not a typo cause Bucky finds it hilarious how small he is outside of the suit) and Bucky have hashed things out and Bucky had been forgiven. Then their stupid rivalry had started, because of Steve’s stupid mouth. They’d competed in everything and anything. Now, Bucky mostly enjoys riling Tony up, cause he looks so cute when he’s flustered or annoyed. And sexy when he’s breathing hard and sweaty after their physical competitions. #BuckyWantsToJumpTony’sBones #Tony’dProbablyLetHim
4. Steve lied to Tony, he’d lied to him! And the heartbroken look on Tony’s face will forever be on Bucky’s mind. When Tony attacks Steve, he doesn’t react, since he knows Steve deserves it. And when Tony points his repulser at him, he only lifts his hand and drops the rifle to the ground. Tony’s hand shakes as he looks at his parent’s murderer, but he can’t do it. He knows some where deep inside (which he doesn’t want to listen to) that Bucky was not really at fault, it had been Hydra... and probably Stane if he’s being honest. Instead, he handcuffs Steve and takes them both to justice, Bucky following him forlornly. Bucky is remanded to a mental facility and Tony uses BARF to remove the triggers. When he’s better almost a year and a half later, he comes to thank Tony, even if it’s not needed since they’d been writing letters (and how old-fashioned is that??) while Bucky was recovering. Bucky stays, and Tony doesn’t really mind.
5. Tony has the first words he hears his soulmate speak “My name is Bucky” imprinted on his left arm, starting at his shoulder and running down. The man isn’t sure what kind of man goes by the name Bucky, but he never connects it to James Buchanan Barnes. And why would he connect the words of his soulmate with a man long dead? All he knows is that wants to meet this person named Bucky, ridiculous name be damned. It’s his soulmate, and he can’t wait to meet them.
Bucky’s has words marked on his chest, over his heart, ever since he could remember. “You seem a little defensive.” And he had imagined for so many years the type of person that would say those words to him. At first, he’d thought it could be Steve, because they’d met before the words had appeared, but the first time he’d saved his ass he’d said “I had them on the ropes,” even if he’d been getting his ass kicked. Then the words had appeared on his fifteenth birthday and he knew it wasn’t him. It wasn’t the redhead he called Dot, or the soldier in his unit he’d snuck some alone time in a dirty tent in Europe named Alex. He waits and waits, and then he falls and he loses himself to the Winter Soldier, they take his identity and everything else.
Then he escapes, from HYDRA and Steve, and everyone. They find him again, and he’s chased by a man in a silver suit that says “Stand down, now,” in a cold, dangerous voice. It’s not him, nor the red headed woman, or the guy with the mechanical falcon wings. They’re at an airport away from the others laying low, Sam the only one with the wings, and he sticks with him because Steve asked him to, but he can’t stand him. There’s a young voice in a red and blue suits that exclaims “Dude, you have a metal arm! That’s awesome!” He’s thankful it isn’t him, since he sounds young (too fucking young, and what are they even doing?), and the panther guy trying to kill him asks “Then why did you run?” So, it’s not him. Bucky disqualifies Wanda, steering clear of her with her freaky mind powers, and it’s not Clint (wondering why he has a bow instead of a fucking gun?). They escape and he’s sure he’ll never find his soulmate, or maybe they died a long time ago?
Then they get to the bunker in Siberia and Stark meets them, and the first words he hears him say are, “You seem a little defensive.” And he’s looking right at Bucky and Tony knows, but they don’t talk about it. And then the video plays and the look on his soulmates face is of hatred and rejection. Later, when Tony blasts Bucky’s arm off, Bucky wishes he’d have blasted his heart out.
6. When Mary died and Tony and Peter were left to grieve her, he was sure he’d never love again. He raises Peter the best way he can, May Parker helping him because he and Mary weren’t married (she was married to Richard Parker). Even so he’d loved her and now she and Richard were gone. He does the best he can, and he shies away from any and all relationships, watched Pepper marry Happy and he’s fine. Tony pushed her away in his grief and he’s fine, and they’re so much happier and he’s happy for them. It doesn’t erase the sadness in his heart though, the loneliness. But Tony has Peter and he tells himself that his son is enough, and he is. The boy is fifteen when he starts helping out at the Vetern’s center, because his Uncle Rhodey was a vertern who’d been hurt and wanted to help others like him. That’s how he meets James “Bucky” Barnes, who returned from Afghanistan alive, but missing his left arm. Peter helps him learn how to smile again and the first time Tony meets him, he shocked how warm his chest feels as he sees that smile. He tells himself (after he’s visited the center several times), that it’s just a stupid crush. The guy didn’t need someone like Tony sniffing around him while he was trying to recover. So he tired to back off, never mind that he’s already smitten, and that dark blue eyes are watching him back with just as much want.
7. Dr. Barnes didn’t know how he got roped into this again, attending this particular patient that never failed to try his patience to the max. He hadn’t fought tooth and nail to become a doctor to have one ridiculous patient ruin his entire career. “Dr. Stark, this is the third time you’ve been in here in the last two days. You need to take it easy. Recovering from open heart surgery is nothing to scoff at.”
“I might be persuaded to stay in bed if you join me, Bucky Bear,” the man purred. He’ll say his hand slipped when he smacked his clipboard against Tony Stark’s puckered lips as he yelped in pain.
8. Bucky tried not to look at his client, eyes ahead as the man walked by in little more than a robe that did nothing to cover his modesty. As if Tony Stark even knew the meaning of modesty, since he’d walked out of his bedroom one morning naked, and he hadn’t been able to forget. The man was well toned from his work in his shop, and his ass was a thing to be worshiped.
Of course, he couldn’t voice these desires out loud, because his boss was Tony Stark, and he was sure he’d be tossed out in his ass so fast. He really needed this job, even if he had to pine after an unreachable man like some damned idiot, then so be it.
Bucky has no idea that Tony was pining after him as well, and was trying to tempt him into making a move. When he again refused to act, he waited until it was night and he’d retreated to his room (his room was in the penthouse since he was his personal bodyguard), Tony showered and then slipped into the bed naked. Bucky was due to check on him in a minute or two and he was going to invite him to bed, and hopefully he wouldn’t refuse him.
Bucky didn’t.
9. Bucky looked at Steve, Captain of the Nomad. “Maybe we didn’t think this through,” said Bucky, Steve’s first mate. They both looked at the annoyed Prince Anthony Stark, and Steve had to admit he’s right as he snapped for one of the pirates to bring him water. He’s looking a little green around the gills so to speak, so his snappish attitude could be forgiven.
“I tell you what though, he’s got a pretty mouth on him,” Bucky smirked as he watched the other man actually pout. “Almost as pretty as the rest of him.”
“Bucky, no,” Steve says firmly.
The man in question grins. “Oh, Bucky, hell yes,” he retorts. He doesn’t even wait for Steve to stop sputtering and goes to present the prince with a placating gift, an old book they’d pilfered from another boat they’d attacked. When the prince smiles, First Mate Bucky feels his heart just about melt. He may be in way over his head here, but he doesn’t really care.
10. (This was written when I thought Tony was 16 or 17 when Tony’s parents died) Tony is in the backseat of his parents car on December 16, 1991, since Maria convinces Howard to take Tony with them on their holiday. He’s dozing since he partied hard last night, and then the tire suddenly pops, causing Howard to crash the car. Tony is unharmed in the backseat, but he’s very awake by then and jumps out of the car first.
He checks on his mom but she’s dazed but relatively unharmed, and then runs around to check on his dad. He’s out cold. That’s when he sees the man with the metal arm, who has a rifle and is approaching their vehicle. He knows that this man was sent to kill them, or kill his dad.
Tony and his dad don’t get along, they fight more than anything, but he’s still his dad. So, he grabs the closet thing as a weapon he sees, which happens to be a tree branch. He’s a fucking genius, got into MIT at the age of fifteen, but he’s also has no other weapons and he’s only 17, damnit.
The man stops in front of him, and Tony had to tip his head back since he was five to six inches taller than him. He gulped as he looked at the masked man as he loomed over him and Tony felt his knees shaking, but he refused to back away. Tony would not let this man take his father’s life.
The assassin looks him over. “Anthony Edward Stark, you are to remain unharmed,” he tells him. He reaches out and pushes him to the side. Tony is confused for a moment until the man starts to reach for his father, and he turns and swings the branch. It connects with the man’s head with a resounding twack and he stumbles, and Tony presses the attack as he hits him on the head again as hard as he can.
At least, he tries but fails as the man catches the branch, making Tony stumble. He looks at the assassin as he straightens and the seventeen year old felt himself start to tremble. Then the man reaches a clumsy hand to the mask on his face and pulls it away. “Who… who are you?”
“W-what?” Tony gasped.
He heard a groan behind him and realized his dad had woken up. Tony turns toward him, but Howard is looking at the assassin in confusion. “Sergeant Barnes?”
