Chapter 3
Ron and Ginny have a complicated relationship that nobody could ever understand. Ron was envious of her while Ginny felt the same way, yet both understood each other better than anyone could.
After the tea ceremony Ron and Ginny agreed to spend more time together. Ron took out his hand me down toy broom and they sneaked out secretly to teach Ginny how to fly. Also Ron let Ginny wear his pants while he finally got to wear Ginny's pink frilly dress.
It was a moment of truth for Ron. He already admitted that he is a girl, but when he wore the pink dress he finally felt free. It wasn't good on him but he used some accidental magic and it became big enough for him to wear. Ginny was glad that the dress wasn't small anymore and too stretched for her to wear again.
"Gin can you keep a secret?" Ron whispered as he twirled around the room happy and giggling. "I think I'm a girl, even if I am in a boy body."
"You are my sister." Ginny said and Ron had to cry. "I wanted a sister and I think you are." Ginny agreed to keep it a secret.
Ron didn't change from the dress as they spent the day inside Gin's room playing wizards and villains. Ginny played as Harry Potter and Ron as Lady You-Know-Who.
"So that you are a girl will you have a crush on Harry Potter too?" She asked. Ron always found stupid that she had crushes as young as five, because he didn't get it.
"No. I like no one." Ron admitted not having a clear preference about girls nor boys.
"Okay." Ginny accepted that too.

Ron, Luna and Ginny became a trio of friends so different yet the best of friends. Luna loved to visit the Burrow and she dragged them out to observe gnomes or whatever creatures she invented. Ginny made them sneak out to fly brooms and with her insistence both Ron and Ginny became naturals at flying. Ron also asked Luna to bring around her jewels stone necklaces, rings made of twig and seer stone friendship bracelets that Ron wore proudly.
When Mum first saw the twig rings she thought how nice of a couple they would make. Ron and Luna both were confused by it, they only wore rings because they looked nice and kept the pigwigs away.
The twins found the jewels tacky and stupid teasing Ron being a pansy and girly. Once he said he doesn't mind being called that and mum heard it. She shrieked like a banshee about gender roles and such, Ron ignored it.

Ron was eight when mum decided to clean his room. Usually it was one of the cleaner ones, but Ron had to spill a bucket of paint that he got from Luna and mum was the only one who could clean the floor with magic. He thought that he put everything unordinary away.
"Ronald Bilius Weasley why do you have Ginny's doll?" She asked holding out Tulip. Ron played with her yesterday dreaming of having her body and forgot to put away. If mum finds the dress or the skirt or the magazines he will be in big trouble. "I never thought that you were a thief. I know that you have outlandish ideas of acting as a girl but it ends now." She tore down his Holyhead Harpies posters and burned his Witch Weekly magazines. Merlin was kind enough that she didn't find the sunflower skirt.
"Mum I didn't steal it! She left it here accidentally after our playing." He lied quickly.
"And you dare to lie to me. It was missing for years Gin said she lost it. You are grounded and you can't see Luna." With that she closed the door on him and he was left with the ashes of his posters.

Percy like a hero came into his room days later. He noted sadly the missing posters of Gwenog Jones, Octavia Perks and the others. Percy had a plan and as mad as it made him, he had to make Ron understand she had to learn how to lie better.
Percy learnt it quickly. Since he met with Wood he understood that he was different. He liked that muttonhead and it wasn't normal. Just like how Ron being a girl wasn't normal or how Charlie would rather chase dragons and snitches than girls or love. To mum it wasn't normal and they had to keep it a secret.
It was funny that he as a rule follower could accept it. He wasn't normal and it is fine, Ron is fine, Oliver is fine and Charlie's preferences were fine too. But mum would disown them and scold them. Percy was fine with pretending, he is a good role model.
"Ron we need to talk." He opened the door with her lunch on a plate. He offered to take up Ron's lunch and because he was the rule follower and example mum agreed handing over the door's key too.
"Mum knows about it." Ron said bitterly. He could notice that her eyes were red and puffy, probably she cried for days. Percy found extreme that mum just burned all of Ron's stuff that were girly when they barely could afford anything. At least mum should have given it to Ginny with the Barbie doll not dispose them.
"I know and as much as it pains I have to say it." Percy sighed and he sat down to her bed. "Ron you have to pretend to be a boy."
"But I'm not." Ron said stubbornly.
"I know and I accept it, I am still working on a permanent solution, but mum is against it."
"Then mum is stupid." Ron declared and while he wanted to protect mum, Percy agreed. "She could have a second daughter, love me like she loves Ginny and Gin could get away with acting tomboyish, because she hates girly stuff while I love it." Ron admitted the truth. "Why couldn't I be a girl like I was supposed to be?"
"I don't know Ronnie." Percy hugged his sister close. "Why couldn't we have richer parents who can accept us as how we are?"
"I don't know Perce." She whispered. Percy wanted to share his troubles with her but decided otherwise. Ron needed a hug and a shoulder to cry on not more problems. Percy already had his issues like hating that they were poor, that other students teased Percy's hand me down robes and books, that only Oliver understood, but Ron needed a brother right now.
"I know I ask too much, but pretend to be a boy. I promise at Hogwarts you can act and be a girl, but here we have to be someone else." Percy was ready to spat out words. The Burrow should have been home but it wasn't.
"Four more years." Ron calculated. "I think I can do that." Ron said. "But what does a boy like, besides Quidditch?"
"Dirt? Dragons?" Percy sighed in frustration. He wasn't exactly the best brother to ask he also had more nerdy hobbies. "I guess fighting, whatever the twins like."
"I am not that close to them." Ron said. "We play quidditch and stuff but we have different interest."
"You love Chess, maybe only mention that." Percy suggested. "Hang out with them and dad for a while and talk about Quidditch teams."
"I only cared for the Harpies." Ron stated.
"Maybe the Chudley Canons?" Percy came up with the first team he knew about. Oliver mentioned them a lot, they had to be good.
"Perfect. I can pretend to root for them and stuff. Also can you take the dress, the jewels and skirt with you mum won't look for them in your room?" Ron took out the items and Percy hid it in his pockets and robes.
"Sure. I will give them back when mum calms down."
"No keep them I will have them back at Hogwarts. Until then I will be Ronald the perfect son."
"For me and Ginny you are the perfect sister." Percy hugged Ron one last time and then he encouraged her to eat.
