The single bed in the center of the room seems to glare at you and Eddie.
“I can take the couch,” you offer.
“No.” Eddie shakes his head. “That’s okay. This is fine.”
He feels you shrug at his side. “You’re right.”
Later, when Eddie is laying awake with you sound asleep at his side, he thinks he should have offered to take the couch.
He sighs.
This whole thing could be made worth it if you would just roll over. If you would just curl up next to him, let him hold you in his arms a bit, maybe.
Let him indulge his crush a little.
When you do no such thing, he sighs and turns away from you, hoping to find sleep of his own.

In the morning, his frustration hasn’t faded.
You zip your suitcase up, grin at him. “How’d you sleep?”
“I slept fine,” Eddie grumbles as he packs.
You fix him with a glare. “You know, I offered to take the couch. If you didn’t sleep well, that’s not on me.” You storm off, head for the hallway with your suitcase rolling behind you.
He sighs, mumbles under his breath. “Great.”
