Chapter 20
Loki did not...rest per say, though he was definitely grateful the opportunity to do so if he desired it. He had enough rest however, and now that his magic was restored to its relatively normal state he was restless. Something which he doubted was helpful to him, but he was careful to control his magic which desired to just lash out on everything. His magic was a part of him, and Loki was feeling restless and aggravated, naturally his magic desired to remedy that. Unfortunately, Loki could not be having things be destroyed because his magic decided to be temperamental. Still, he was more then allowed to be annoyed. He had good reasons for it after all. The whole idea that he had been left alone had him annoyed. After all, he would not be leaving them alone, if the situation had been reversed. They had not, however, and now Loki was left to ponder, something which he particularly did not like. Why would they leave him in the wood alone helpless to defend himself even if he had wanted to? He had not been, of course, but that was entirely besides the point which Loki was making to himself. If, assuming what that old wizard had said was true, that would be incredibly dangerous. Yet they had done so, perhaps without realization, perhaps there was something which he was not entirely privy to which led up to that, Loki found himself dwelling. He could not understand why they had done it, and he found out that he rather did not like the fact that he could not understand why they had done something like that. It was incredibly upsetting, and with his upset nature he could feel his tether on himself slowly begin to unwind.
It would not really do to be dwelling so much upon things that he could not stop, nor could he fix. Loki knew this, though he was known for dwelling on such things that he did not understand. He hated the fact that he could not understand the actions which were taken, leading him to acknowledge that he was not understanding the whole picture. He did not have all of the puzzle pieces. Something that he disliked having to acknowledge. He supposed that he should be grateful, after a fashion at least. He was not in pain caused from the elves nor the neglect of the others' foresight, he had not kidnapped, he was safe, relatively. Or at least so it would seem at the very least in his current circumstances that he was safe. For now he was not in the clutches of his enemies, and he had relative free will at the moment. He had been through situations where this was most certainly not the case, so he needed to be dwelling on that rather then things that he could not change.
Loki sighed heavily, sitting down neatly on the floor. He needed to understand that things could have gone a lot worse for him, and yet they had not. He needed to calm himself, down. He supposed that perhaps the departure had done more to his psyche then he was willing to admit. Which he would not admit. It was not uncommon for him to be found alone in such a vulnerable time. After all, though Loki was an incredibly powerful being, there was limitations to someone even as powerful as himself. Something which others would do well to acknowledge. He could not bring himself to really understand why it was it had such a severe reaction to it. He supposed if he dwelled on it he would understand but it was something that Loki found that he did not want to do.
He would do better not to. Closing his eyes, Loki inhaled deeply, his eyes fluttering under his lashes as he did so. He took several breathes, deep ones to help try and come down from the terror which he had felt upon waking, and the subsequent consequences of such a thing. He did not have much time, and if he did he had no idea. After all, he had not been informed when it was that his very presence would be desired, so Loki would take this time to control himself, and find a more stable balance between himself and his magic.
He had to be careful. He had been too lax with himself. It was undoubtably a bad choice to try and crush that dark creature. He had destroyed the entire formation of what used to be a mountain. That took severe magic, and quite a bit of it. The fact that he had recovered so quickly was bound to raise questions, ones which Loki was not entirely certain that he wished to answer, or that he wanted to answer in the first place. He was not cruel, however, he would answer minimally to assuage curiosity of course. It would do better to answer something than to be so vehement about not answering anything. That would only draw more questions and suspicion and that was most certainly something which Loki did not need at the moment.
He had released quite a bit of magic, and though it did not drain him as much as it could have, he knew that it was more the fact that he had not slept and eaten enough that caused such a thing. He was a god, it normally would not have mattered, but that combined with his fall, he was most certainly not dealing with things all that well. He had managed quite well up until then, of course, but when it came down to it, he had his limitations. He should have been more careful.
Though he could not have suspected that he was going to have to destroy a mountain. Who would suspect such a thing. He had been nervous, of course, and he had been on edge, and now that he knew why he was rather aggravated that he had not managed to catch it earlier, but that was besides the point. What was done was done, and he would just have to be more careful in the future.
