Chapter Two
It’s four in the morning was the only thing ringing through Petunia’s mind. Too early for any of this but it was time. At three am Petunia got a Patronus from Sirius that Lily was in labor and it was only about a year since that faithful night that changed Petunia’s life for the better. So much had happened since that night. Like the obvious, she and Lily’s relationship getting better, somehow she and Sirius become friends, James and her getting along. Petunia and Remus on the other hand got along quicker than she did with Sirius on the count of they had much more in common in hobbies. However, the biggest resolution would be Petunia getting pregnant from an unknown lover that Lily is still guessing ever since the news was announced. Much to Lily’s happiness, the father is not Vernon but some unknown man that Petunia is being secretive about.
Petunia does trust Lily but the father is someone that Lily may not approve of it all is revealed. Besides Petunia does not know whether he is alive or where he even lives to begin with. As of right now her boy who in Petunia’s opinion is absolutely beautiful is sleeping in her arms while waiting for James to come out.
As Lily’s screaming ceased the door bursts open to reveal a beaming James.” He’s here!” is all James says with tears in his eyes before everyone walks in much to the doctors protesting. He looks like Lily is all Petunia can think of when she gets to hold him. Okay, maybe he is just as beautiful, Petunia thinks to herself. Harry is what his name revealed to be is sleeping soundlessly not yet realizing how much everyone loves him, in particular Petunia herself. For a boy all of two hours old he already looks happy. Almost as if he can sense the love and adoration that is in the air.
Petunia bends a bit down so Dudley can see Harry as well. Dudley looks at Harry with a bit of confusion thinking his mom conjured him out of the air and looks a bit forlorn when Harry is placed back into the cot because Dudley thought Harry was coming home with them.
Dudley is only a short of a few days to be a month old and is quite a big baby that left Petunia shocked when he was placed in her arms. With James jokingly telling her no wonder she looked like she was having twins. Dudley looked like his father since the moment he was placed in her arms and Petunia was surprised that no one put two and two together with his curly black hair. She thought Sirus would figure it out first considering Dudley has a constellation for a middle name but was left jaw dropped when Sirius thought it was an homage to him and not Dudley having familiar ties to him.
Literally, Sirius was boasting about Dudley’s middle name being Elio. Maybe if Dudley had his father’s eyes and not hers it would be more obvious. The more Petunia looked at Dudley she saw bits and pieces of herself as well him. However, looking at Remus that day in the hospital Petunia knew just by looking in his eyes that Remus knew who Dudley’s father is.
“I- we need to talk to you,” said Lily looking at James once everyone left leaving the three alone. Petunia looks at them questioningly as she’s holding Dudley in her lap who is fast asleep again. “We are going to have to move. There was a prophecy and it does not look good,” said Lily and proceeds to retell the story for what felt like the millionth time.
By the end, Petunia was left worried and angry that Lily did not tell her earlier. “Are you serious?!” states Petunia upset that she was left out in the dark from the news that her family is in danger. “You’re not Sir-” starts James but gets cut off by the death glare from both sisters.
“I did not want him coming after you as he did with mom and dad!” shouts Lily, “I didn’t mean to make you feel that way. I jus-” Lily proceeds to state before getting cut off by Petunia who is still visibly upset.
“Nothing is gonna happen Lily because I’m pretty sure Snape still thinks that we hate each other.” Petunia states angrily. “You don’t know that. This isn’t forever and I still want you and Dudley to visit,” states Lily quietly. “I want us to playdates even if they can’t communicate,” Lily says before giving a happy teary smile trying to diffuse the situation scared that it would be like before.
“Okay.” Petunia mumbles to Lily. “Okay,” Lily mumbles back.
