“I cannot understand why you’re not thrilled about me doing this.” Juliet scoffed, pushing past her mother and continuing to fold the heap of laundry piled up in the corner of her room. Reaching to help her, Daisy stated bluntly, “Because Jules, you know how dangerous field work is... better than most.” Jules rolled her eyes and retorted, “I know, I know, but shouldn’t that make you feel better? Knowing that I’ve had first hand experience and know to not be stupid. I’m not an idiot mom, I’ll be careful. Plus, Coulson and May wouldn’t have given me this if they didn’t think I was cut out for it and if I couldn’t defend myself. After all, I did basically grow up in SHIELD.” “That’s what I’m worried about.” Daisy replied, crossing her arms. “You think you know everything already but I promise you, you don’t.” Walking over to Jules, Daisy pulls her into a hug and says, “Just be careful, ok?” “I will, I promise.” Jules replied smiling.
Walking through the base, Jules swiped her key card granting her access to the lab. Staring at it for a moment she rolled her eyes at the small printed lettering stating, “Unofficial Personnel” at the bottom of the card. “Not for long..” she muttered to herself, and stepped into the lab smiling and waving at Fitz as he noticed her. “Whatcha working on today?” she questioned gesturing to the holo table that looked extremely cluttered. “Looks…. complicated.” Jules laughed, taking note of Fitz’s knit brow. “It’s nothing. Nothing that Daisy would want you knowing about at least.” He replied, shooing her away a bit. Crossing her arms Jules took a step closer and tried to get a better look at the holo table. “What about my Dad then?” she questioned. “What?” Fitz exclaimed nervously. “I mean, my Dad.” Jules stipulated, pointing at the name Lincoln Campbell on the holo table attached to a file. “Oh that, that um, well you see I just needed a reference point and-” Fitz tried to explain but Jules was already done. “You mean you’re consulting with my Dad who doesn’t even want anything to do with SHIELD and I’m not even allowed to know basic project descriptions!? This is ridiculous!” Jules exclaimed storming out of the lab, pushing past Jemma who was just about to enter. “Jules, come back!” Fitz yelled, and then hung his head. “It’s alright Fitz.” Jemma said walking over to him and putting her hand on his shoulder. “She’s just frustrated because she’s not officially a SHIELD agent yet.” Jemma assured. “Yeah and if Daisy had her say she might never be…” Fitz remarked, scoffing a bit. Jemma responded firmly, “Daisy has every right to be scared… we all know how dangerous this can be.” “Yeah but if she doesn’t let Jules start going on missions soon she’ll get reckless and then who knows what situation she might end up in.” Fitz pointed out to which Jemma sighed and nodded her head in agreement. “Hopefully Coulson and May talking with her will help.” Jemma suggested. “She’s not going to be thrilled about it though….” Fitz added. “Well, at least it’s not us telling her.” Jemma reminded Fitz, cracking a small smile.
“A MONTH!?! We agreed to a one week undercover op with surveillance on her at all times and now, NOW, you want her to go in for a month with limited contact!? Coulson how on Earth did you think I’d be ok with this!?” Daisy proclaimed, standing in the director’s office absolutely furious. “Daisy..” May warned shooting her a glance. “No May! There’s no reason for you to say Daisy because this is a perfectly normal- perfectly understandable reaction to being told your daughter’s going to be put in a life threatening situation!!” Daisy rebutted, crossing her arms and staring at Coulson in shock. “I knew you wouldn’t agree to it, but the fact is you don’t have to.” Coulson explained rubbing his neck. “What do you mean I don’t have t-” Daisy started but May cut her off replying, “She’s 18 Daisy.” Daisy looked down at the ground and then back up and tried to say, “So? So what if she's 18? This is a huge deal and she can’t just make these decisions for herself let alon-” “Daisy it’s not up to you. She is an adult and she has every right to accept this mission. Especially since..” Coulson remarked hesitantly. “Especially since what!?” Daisy questioned. “Effective immediately, Jules has been approved as an official SHIELD agent. Everyone’s signed off.. everyone but you.” Coulson concluded, looking at Daisy pointedly. “No, no absolutely not. She’s not ready and…” Daisy tried to plead but trailed off looking at May shaking her head. “You may not be ready. But she is.” May asserted, gesturing to Coulson. “We need more recruits and Jules.. Jules is the best we’ve got. We’re all proud of her and of course don’t want anything to happen to her but Daisy, she can handle this.” Coulson assured holding out a tablet for Daisy to sign off on Jules' file. Looking at both of them nodding at her, Daisy looked at the tablet and quickly signed her name. Handing the tablet back to Coulson she sighed and then began, “I have to ask for one more thing before she does this though.” “Anything.” Coulson replied. Daisy took an inhale before saying, “I need to go see Lincoln..”
