Chapter 9
“How are you holding up Nat?” Wanda asked Natasha who was sitting in front of her screen editing and touching up the photos she shot earlier. Wanda took a look at her screen and saw Steve and his friends on the screen, it’s been hours since they left the studio and they were about to close up as well.
“I’m perfectly fine Wanda, don’t worry about me” she smiled at her friend reassuring her. “I just have a feeling that we’ll be seeing a lot of Steve and his friends now that he knows where I am.” She stated.
“That’s what I thought too, and that worries me, what if he wants to get back together?” asked Wanda, but before Natasha could answer someone entered the studio that caught their attention.
“So, what did I miss?” Maria said excitedly. Wanda has informed her about Steve visiting the studio and the conversation they had while shooting earlier. She went to Nat’s side and saw them on her screen. “Damn! They’re still hot!” she exclaimed, “but the nerve of him to deny being your ex after what he’s done to you.” She added frustratingly. “I still wanna punch his perfect teeth!” she said while pointing at Steve furiously at the screen.
Natasha just snickered at her antics, “I think you’ll be able to do that one of these days” she said playfully at her. “Oh, and why is that? Don’t tell me you plan on seeing him again?” Maria asked in a curious and teasing tone. ”No, Maria I don’t, but somethings telling me that this won’t be the last of me seeing him, but I assure you I’ll be ready when that happens.” She declared confidently.
Wanda just watched this exchange between her friends and she was getting worried about Nat’s plan, she’s afraid it might backfire on her she gets hurt again.
“Just be careful Nat,” that’s all she said to her. “Loosen up Wanda let that fool pay for what he’s done to Nat. It’s not like Nat would be foolish enough to fall for him once again.” “Right Nat?” Maria asked Natasha.
Natasha looked at them and gave them a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry guys, I won’t let that happen. I’m just gonna give him a dose of his own medicine.” She smirked at the thought of getting even with him.
Wanda was still worried but didn’t say anything more, she knows that once Nat made up her mind there’s no way she won’t go through with it even if that means facing the person who had hurt her the most again.
After making sure everything was done the three went out to get some dinner and head home after that.

“So, how was it?” Bruce asked them. They were at Steve’s place again having dinner. “Yeah, does she have amnesia?” Rhodey asked no one in particular.
“I think she does, she still doesn’t remember my great hugs,” Thor said sadly. “It’s like talking to the old but new Natasha, I’m still not used to it man” Sam added. “At first I was convinced she’s just pretending but the longer we talked to her I couldn’t even read a tiny hint of recognition or anger from her. She acts like she doesn’t know us.” Bucky stated. “Bucky’s right.” Steve agreed. “Every time I look at her eyes I don’t see recognition in her eyes, not even anger for that matter and you guys know Nat well enough. Her expression may mask her real feelings but her eyes show it all.”
So it wasn’t just him who was reading Natasha through her eyes the entire time they talked to her Bucky thought. The entire time they spent with Nat in that studio Bucky was reading her entire gesture, the way she talked to them and look at them. He has gotten to know Nat well enough to read her through her eyes. He made it his mission to get to know the person who has captured Steve’s entire heart and soul for he has to make sure that Steve was in good hands. He feels responsible for Steve for that was the promise he made to his friend’s late mother Sarah. That’s why it devastated him when Steve walked out on Nat, he was sure that his friend would regret what he has done and he felt bad for Nat for he has grown attached to her as well. He loved her as his sister just like how he saw Steve as his brother. He feels responsible for them and he’ll do everything in his power to make things right between Steve and Natasha.
“So what’s your next move Steve?” asked Tony from the screen he was still on his honeymoon with Pepper but doesn’t want to be left out about Steve’s next plan.
“I’ll pursue her again.” Steve smiled looking at them. “I’ll make things right this time.”
“You do know you’re gonna have to tell her about the past right?” Bucky said.
“I know, I’ll tell her eventually. I’m going to have to enter her life first and after that, I’ll tell her and ask for her forgiveness and hope that she’ll want me back in her life again.” He stated hopefully.
“But, what happens if she doesn’t want you back?” Thor asked the most logical question.
“If she doesn’t want me anymore, I’d understand but I’ll still do anything to earn her forgiveness,” Steve said determinedly.
Bucky gave him a pat on the back and said “We’re right behind you bud, we’ll support you in any way we can.” They all nod at this and gave Steve a smile as a sign of support for him.
“If you give me another chance Nat I’ll do everything to make sure I do it right this time. I promise I won’t let you go this time and give you the love that you truly deserve.” Steve thought to himself.
