Where It All Began
Grant Ward knew what he doing when he burn down his family home with his powers. It all started when he received a phone call from his little sister Rose crying, saying that she and their brother Thomas was in the hospital.
After he got that phone call from his sister, he stole his supervisor's car and drove 1,000 miles to their family home only to burn to the ground.
While his older brother Christian was still inside the house, Grant wanted him pay for what's he's done. But Grant didn't succeeded on killing his brother Christian, he was still and now he was locked away in juvie.
Grant was born with powers. He was ten years old when he found that he had discovered truth. It all started when he's brother was beating him up like he usually did, and Grant was angry and he felt this burning sensation in skin.
So what he did next was shocking, he threw a fireball towards his older brother which caused his shirt to set on fire. Ever since that day Grant had learned the truth, that he was born out an affair that his father had with another women.
"You have a visitor." The guard had told him Grant let a sighs out of annoyance, he didn't want anyone to bother him.
The guard unlocked the door from his cell and he waited for him to stand up. The guard then dragged him to the table where he supposed to have his visit.
He arrived at the table and saw middle aged man wearing a suit. And a women wearing all black with red hair sitting in his right side.
"Grant Ward." The middle aged man called him, he wanted to know what these wanted with him. So he sat at the table with them.
"We just want to talk." The man in suit told him.
"My name is Phil Coulson." The man in suit introduced himself. Coulson then looked at his partners. "This are my associates Clint Barton." Clint waved at him, Coulson then looked at women, "This is Natasha Romanoff."
Coulson held out his hand in order to attempt to shake his shake. But Grant just stared at the man hand, it was obvious that Ward wasn't going to shake it. Coulson then retracted his hand.
"What do guys you want?" Ward asked the three agents that were sitting across from him.
"We know everything about you Grant." Clint told him which made Grant stiffen.
"Relax Grant, we're not here hurt you." Natasha told him, "We're only here to help you."
"Well I don't either of you could help me." He replied to Natasha which made Coulson frowned, he believed that everyone deserves a second chance.
"I don't think that true. Everyone's is worth saving." Coulson told him which earned him a harsh laugh.
"There's no saving me. I'm a lost cost." Grant replied
"Everyone can be saved if you follow the right path." Natasha told him
"We want to offer you a deal." Clint told him
"What kind of deal?" He asked him curiosity
"We want you to join SHIELD." Natasha told him and looked at him. "I'll help you train and you could become one of the best agents."
"What's SHIELD?" Grant asked three agents
"Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division." Coulson told him
"What does that mean?" He asked him curiosity
"It means someone really wanted our initials to spell out shield." Natasha said sarcastically which made Clint chuckle.
"It means that we're from a secret organization for the protection of mankind. And we could use someone like you on our team." Coulson told him
"So, what do you say Grant. Would you join SHIELD?" Clint said, "We're giving a chance, to start over and make a new life."
"Why should I trust you?" He asked the three agents
"That's for you decide, but give us a chance." Clint told him
"Your family's on their way here right now, but my partner's stalling them for a short time." Natasha had blurred out which made Grant tensed up.
Natasha continued to speak, "Not only are your folks pressing charges for arson and attempted murder-"
Barton cut off Natasha , "But your brother is petitioning the court to have you tried as an adult."
"So, what do you say Grant? Are you willing to join SHIELD?" Coulson had asked him.
Grant had a though decision to make, it was either for him to go to prison for the rest of his life or he could either go with them.
So he made up his mind and decided to go with his second option.
"I'm in." Grant said and looked at the three agents. "But what about the guards?" He asked them.
"Just leave that to us." Natasha told him with a smirk. Natasha and Clint caused a distraction with the guards while Coulson had taken Grant with him.
And this was the new beginning of Grant's life.
