You laugh, tongue between your teeth as you take the knife to the orange object in front of you, looking like the picture of ease.
As Eddie takes his knife to his own pumpkin, he only wishes for that kind of talent.
You chuckle as he sighs.
“You’ve never carved a pumpkin before, baby?”
Eddie huffs, eyes squinting with focus. “My childhood wasn’t exactly…fun.” Eddie shrugs. “Only did this a couple of times.”
“Well,” you hum, no hint of pity in your voice–though Eddie knows it should be there.
And Eddie loves you for it.
“It’s like riding a bike, you never really forget,” you add.
“I was never much good at riding a bike,” Eddie mumbles.
You laugh, and Eddie thinks this might all be worth it.
