“You two just aren’t right for each other” Y/n protested
“I can’t believe you’d say something like that. How could you say that? you’ve been my biggest supporter during my relationship, What changed? Why are you acting like this?”Elizabeth exclaimed
“Because you belong with me!! Okay -”
“CUT!” The director cut the two of you off in the middle of your scene “That was wonderful! Fantastic as always but Y/n I really need you to say those last few lines with more emotion, I really want you to get into character- you’re pining after Lizzie's character, and you’ve loved her for years and now she’s engaged and you’re confused and hurt, I need to see that in your eye’s, I want to hear the voice cracks, really show me ok?”
You nodded, little did the director know what he’d just described was practically what you were experiencing, you’d had a crush on Elizabeth Olsen since the moment you had met her- I mean obviously, you thought she was pretty before but actually meeting her was an entirely new experience.
She was so friendly and professional, but at the same time you had to admit she was a bit intimidating, you were just a small actor then- a minor character in a movie that had very little screen time but she still took the time to come over and say hello to you, she was charming and dare you say a little flirtatious -that was 3 years ago, and ever since then you’ve been following her career path like a mouse follows cheese, so it was no surprise you auditioned for yet another movie you heard she was going to be in, what was a surprise, however, was finding out you got the role and 6 weeks later you were on set getting hair and make-up done.
The role you had landed was no ordinary role either, you were cast as Lizzie’s character’s best friend/ eventual love interest, which you had to admit you were quite nervous about, chemistry with Lizzie comes easy though, and from the second you guys had met on set she had instantly recognized you, and you two hit it off from there.
Now here you were months into filming already on your last few scenes of the movie and you two were practically inseparable, which was a perfect match for your characters but horrible news for you considering your crush on her had not gone away and a make-up artist could only do so much to hide your blush every time you two got close. Though in reality, it was very in character.
Scenes where the two of you got intimately close like cuddling on a couch or fixing each other's clothes seemed to be a challenge for the both of you- as the directors often had you two redo those scenes quite a few times, you couldn’t help it, there was no wikiHow for how to be close around your crush and still remember your lines, although Lizzie was no better either: often stuttering through lines or standing a bit too stiffly, but now here you were a month later and though the tension had lessened, both of you knew what was coming up- your character confesses to Lizzie's during a fight and both of them realize they had been pining for each other for years, they kiss, they cry, Lizzie calls off her engagement and you set up the end scene for a sequel in a year or two- sounds easy right? Wrong. Very wrong.
You two had been on your fourth retake of this scene and you could tell everyone was getting tired so you decided to take the director's advice and channel something personal- while Elizabeth wasn’t in a relationship currently, it wasn’t hard to imagine her with one of her ex costars- you’d seen all the fan edits, you imagined all their couples photos on Instagram, them announcing their engagement, being invited to the wedding, you could feel the jealousy in your throat and the tears forming in your eyes as they yelled action
“You two just aren’t right for each other!” You divulged, your fists clenching by your sides
“I can’t believe you’d say something like that. How could you say that? What changed? Why are you acting like this?” Lizzie retorted, tears at the corners of her eyes
“Because you belong with me!! Ok?? Because fuck- I’m jealous of the way he gets to touch you and I can barely bring myself to look at you anymore without picturing you in my arms. I’m so stupidly in love with you and I don’t know how it happened but here I am head over heels for a girl who’s in love with another man.” you paused, a sigh leaving your lips, your character tenses and then releases her shoulders in defeat
“ ….I’m sorry that was a lot, I think I should go-”
Your monologue was interrupted with a kiss- as scripted- but still, Lizzie’s lips were on yours, and they were so soft, and you didn’t even realize you had been crying until Lizzie's hand came to wipe away the tears on your cheeks (not scripted). You both smiled into the kiss, reveling in the moment before you backed away “i-I don’t understand, I thought you loved Jonathan” You confessed confusedly
Lizzie smiled softly “I convinced myself that you could never like me back so I got with Jonathan to try and get over you, I thought I was in love with him but with every little thing he did I found myself thinking about what you would have done, and then he popped the question and you were there holding the camera and smiling and I didn't know what else to say but yes”
“ I don’t know maybe a ‘no’ “ You said sarcastically and Lizzie slapped you playfully
“So…what happens now?” Lizzie asked
“I’ve got a few ideas” You smirked leaning in closer to Lizzie once again before the director was yelling “Cut!” again. The two of you quickly jumped away from each other at the close proximity, you didn’t know about her but you were blushing so hard it must have been showing even underneath all the powder on your face.
You avoided eye contact as the director came over to talk to you two, “That was great ladies! Truly the best shot we’ve gotten so far, this is where we will end filming for the night, everybody pack up!” and so you were rushed off to your trailer to get your hair and make-up undone but your mind was completely elsewhere, you tried to keep small talk with your stylists but it was no use, and you had to explain to the makeup artist that the blush did come off, your cheeks were just a bit rosy with ‘adrenaline’. A knock on the door is what interrupted you from your thoughts, one of the film crew members opened the door once you’d told them to come in
“Hey Y/n, a few of us are going out to drink just to destress and celebrate a bit if you want to join?” he asked
“Oh yeah that sounds like fun, do you know if...Lizzie is going to be there?”
“She said she’d like to stop by, you know she doesn’t really drink much though”
“Right right, yeah I’ll try to be there, text me the details”
“You got it!” he exclaimed before shutting the trailer door
Great, now you had to find something to wear for tonight.

“You know Elizabeth actually recommended you for the role”
You were halfway through your drink when the costume designer decided you needed to choke on your soda of choice
“I’m sorry what?!” you blurted out
“Well, it was more like- she saw that you had auditioned and gave her input that she thought you’d be a perfect fit for the role, turns out she was right!” they patted you on the back before walking away nonchalantly, leaving you there with the mess that was your brain, Elizabeth fucking Olsen helped you get a role…as her love interest, and here she was now entering the bar and greeting everyone… and heading in your direction.
It reminded you of when you’d first met her, you’d been standing near a table with snacks, sipping lightly on water and trying not to mess up the make-up your make-up artists would 100% kill you for ruining. You didn’t even register that it was her at first when she’d approached the table and grabbed a sparkling water before turning to you
“Hi, I’m Elizabeth I don’t think we’ve met” Your eyes widened as you realized The Elizabeth Olsen was talking to you .
“Yeah i- Hi, hello!” you barely managed to stutter out, she just smiled in return
“I was watching you out there, you’re a natural honestly” Talking to her was one thing but now she was complimenting you?
“Thank you, that means a lot. This is my first time acting and not just being an extra so it’s really been an experience”
“This is your first time? Wow, you’ve got to get into more movies, you bring so much to your character!”
You couldn’t stop the smile that spread across your face “That’s really sweet of you to say thank you i-”
“Can we get everyone back on set!” Elizabeth gave you an apologetic look and you waved her off with a smile, nothing could ever top this day.
-
You’d very obviously been wrong since now you’d gotten to film an entire romance movie with her as her Love Interest!
“Hey, stranger” is the first thing Lizzie says when she approaches you at the bar. You snort, says the person you were kissing less than two hours ago. You shake your head, it was just a stage kiss don’t get attached.
“ Ouch Olsen, we wrap up filming and suddenly I’m a stranger? Do you treat all your co-stars like this?” You receive a playful shove for your teasing but it only makes you smile wider. When had you been smiling?
“Only the ones I like” It’s physically impossible to stop the blush that blooms on your cheeks.
You take another sip to distract yourself. If only younger you could see you now.
You stare out at some of the cast and crew dancing to the lull of the music, god if only you weren’t so socially awkward. From the corner of your eye, you see Lizzie eyeing you curiously and you feel all of the hairs on your neck prick up.
You let your eyes slide over to her, her expression turning from curious to expectant. She had been the last one to talk- now it was your turn.
“So- am I going to be seeing a cake with your face on it anytime soon?” She snorts at that, a delicate hand running through her hair
“I think you’ve had too much to drink” You scoff, only half offended that she would think you could only be this funny when drunk
“You’ve wounded my D-list celebrity ego” You bring a hand to pat your heart, your expression turning solemn for just a second before a smile cracks through
“Oh well, we can’t have that” She rolls her eyes at your antics and decides to finally take the seat next to you. God knows why she chose to stand for that long in heels.
“For your information Elizabeth,” you tilt your glass towards her “This is soda” Getting drunk wasn’t really a wise decision with all of the people around who could watch you embarrass yourself.
As you set the drink down her eyebrows shoot up in surprise “Really? So I won’t have to be protecting you from the paparazzi if you start a bar fight? Good.”
“Hey hey hey, no one said I had to be drunk to start a fight” You smile lazily at the sound of Lizzie’s chuckle. You would definitely lose in a fight, both you and Lizzie knew that.
“May I?” Lizzie’s hand hovers over your glass on the bar, and you nod your head in consent.
You watch as she takes a sip, your eyes paying far too much attention to her lips and the lipstick stain they leave behind. Your eyes follow her lips even after they’ve left the glass, flashes of earlier appearing in your mind. When your gaze finally returns back to hers you realize she’d been watching you that entire time. She definitely noticed. Fuck.
You quickly swivel your body away from her while she orders her drink- the same thing as you, you notice.
You pick up your glass and take a swig in an attempt to cool any part of you, but when you pull the cup away from your lips you realize the lipstick stain is centimeters away from where your lips had just been. Shit, you almost shared an indirect kiss with her.
It didn’t matter that you’d actually kissed her hours ago- that was staged, this was different. Suddenly the air felt tighter and hotter than as was expected in a bar with bodies colliding with one another.
“y/n?” The soft voice pulls you out of your panic, you turn to see confused eyes staring back at you. Shit now you’ve embarrassed yourself, you don’t even need to be drunk to do that either.
“Sorry” you awkwardly chuckle trying to get past the moment, your brain can’t think of any excuse to give so you finish off the rest of your drink, careful to avoid the lipstick mark that mocks your hopelessness.
A moment later Lizzie brushes it off with a smile “I get it” Somehow you get the feeling that she really does understand.
“I guess I’m just nervous about press releases and stuff” It wasn’t really a lie, you were nervous about those things. Being a small character in another film meant you never really did the interviews and promo’s but now you were a main character, and not only were you doing all of those things, but you were doing them with Elizabeth.
Your thigh warms and you realize it’s because there’s a hand that’s been placed there, you suppose it should be comforting but it was really just kind of turning you o-
“There’s nothing to be nervous about Y/n, you’re hilarious. The world is going to love you, it’s impossible not to”
Your brows furrow at Lizzie’s words, what did she mean by that? It’s impossible not to love you? You shook your head, she definitely did not mean what you were thinking. I mean sure she’s gorgeous but you don’t even like her like that. It’s just the effects of the film getting to you.
But what if-
Time seems to slow as you watch her eyes glance down at your lips before dragging themselves back up to your eyes, a small smirk tugs at the corner of Lizzie’s mouth.
What.
You stumble off of your bar stool, vaguely mentioning something about needing air.
You needed to get out of here.
You don’t hear Elizabeth calling for you as you stumble out of the bar, your chest is heaving rapidly, and your thigh tingles where her touch once was.
Shit.
Somewhere along the way, the act of loving her stopped being an act.
You lean against the wall of the bar
You were so stupid.
You were so fucked.
You were so-
“Y/n” God if you heard your name one more time from her lips you might explode.
You slowly peel your eyes open to the sight of a concerned Lizzie, her lips are pursed and her eyes are searching yours for an explanation.
You don’t think you can give her one.
Against your better judgment, your gaze lands on her lips once again, the lipstick is less bold due to her sipping her drink. You think about the way it would look as it peppered marks down your neck. Your body flushes at the thought. Now that you’ve realized how you feel about her you don’t think you can go back to the way things were. Not when thoughts like that popped into your head so easily.
You only realize how long you were staring when Lizzie’s head tilts and her eyebrows lift in a silent question.
Your heart aches to pull her in but your mind screams at you to run.
“I-” Your throat goes dry and you lick your lips in an attempt to remedy your speechlessness. The action draws the attention of the brunette, and this time you can’t fool yourself, she’s really staring at your lips
Her eyes darken, the sight of it makes your stomach fuzzy
“Lizzie” The sound of her name rolling off of your tongue has her focus back on you.
You were taking a big risk, you were potentially fucking up a perfect friendship but- the way she looked at you gave you the confidence you needed to place a hand on her cheek. She leaned into your touch, she no longer looked curious and hesitant, she was determined.
And so were you.
You slowly pull her in, giving her the chance to back out if she wishes, but she stays there inches away from your lips, her soft breaths stutter before you pull her in.
Her lips are soft against yours, she tastes like sugar from the soda and you never want to taste the flavor any other way again.
Her hands drift up into your hair, gripping the base of your neck as she deepens the kiss. Your other hand goes to her waist, both of you pulling each other impossibly closer.
This can’t possibly be real. You expect to wake up from this blissful dream any moment but Lizzie’s tug at your hair assures you that this is really happening.
You're fucking kissing Elizabeth Olsen.
Her mouth persuades yours to open as you two get lost in the taste of each other, the world faded away long before you kissed.
The honk of a car horn eventually startles the two of you out of your haze. You don’t back away from each other, choosing to stay in each other's embrace as you both catch your breath.
It’s then you realize how public of a place you’re in, and not wanting to share your moment with the world just yet you release your hand from Lizzie’s waist and slip it into her hand.
“I think we should get back to the hotel or I might have to be the one who saves you from the paparazzi”
Lizzie’s eyes are bright with joy and mischief as you both head back to her car.
With the way she glances at you every so often on the drive back you guess that your night is far from over.
