Chapter 7
That night, Loki went hunting. It wasn't his usual hunt, which would end with someone or something dead, but it was still a hunt.
Gamora was alone when he found her. Good.
"Nebula doesn't trust many people," Gamora commented before he could say anything.
"I'd say that's smart," he responded. "There's not many people in the universe that are trustworthy."
"And you're one of the few that are?"
He laughed. An amusing notion, really. "No, not at all."
"Then why does she trust you?"
"So certain that she does?"
"From what I saw back there, I'd say so."
"Meaning?"
"You grabbed her, and you still have the hand you used to do it. I'd say that tells me enough."
"I suppose it does." He shrugged. "But I'm afraid I can't help you there."
"You seem like the type to know secrets."
His hand touched her head. "I'd say you're right."
He plunged into her memory, and it didn't take long to find what he was looking for. Her last mission flashed before his eyes. The quest for the soul stone. A forgotten world. The map. The location. Her hand pauses as she reached for it, as treachery raced through her mind.
Fire.
I found the map to the soul stone, and I burnt it to ash. That thought, haunting her every move. The words that she wanted to scream, to throw in the face of the man who had destroyed her planet, her family, her life. Except for one thing, the secret keeping her mouth shut.
I saw it. I know where the soul stone is.
Loki pulled back from her mind, erasing the last few seconds from her mind.
"You seem like the type to know secrets."
"Wouldn't you like to know." He turned, walking away.
Nebula's sister was turning out to be a lot more interesting than she seemed.
