New Beginnings
"You. Have. Too. Try. Harder. Than... THAT!" Wanda yelled as she pushed Ophelia back with her powers. They had been sparing all morning and Ophelia was getting tired, and it showed. Her reflexes were slowing and she was distracted. Wanda pinned Ophelia to the ground and a red rope of mist floated around her neck. Ophelia coughed as the mist tightened. "Say it." Wanda said with a smirk.
"No." Ophelia grunted and the mist tightened even more.
"Say it!" Wanda shouted in her face and yet again the mist tightened.
"Never!" Ophelia shouted and coughed again. And just as Wanda was about to render her opponent unconscious Ophelia said it. "I yield!" She shouted and Wanda backed away from her, the rest mist dissipating. She reached down a hand to Ophelia and let her up. Ophelia brushed herself off and groaned. While she was very powerful Wanda had more practice. She had been training in both physical and magical combat years longer than Ophelia had been and it showed. But she was getting there. And for a beginner she was doing well.
"I'l never be as strong as you." Ophelia said frustrated. Wanda patted her on the back.
"In time." Wanda replied with an understanding smile.
Ophelia had only been working with the Avengers for a few weeks so it made sense that she wasn't battle ready yet. But least she could defend herself if need be. Only time would tell when she would be ready to take on HYDRA. Ophelia only hoped it would be soon.
Ophelia and Wanda walked through the Avengers compound toward the kitchen area. Vision was standing beside the fridge watching Loki rummage through it with a smirk on his face. Ophelia walked behind Loki and tapped him on the shoulder. Loki got startled and hit his head on the shelf the refrigerator.
"Odin's beard!" Loki shouted and stepped away from the fridge rubbing the back of his head. Ophelia laughed with Vision and Wanda as the God of Mischief grumbled.
"It was just a bit of fun." Ophelia said with a wink then batted her eyelashes at him. Loki lowered his eyes at her and she pretended to be scared.
"What's wrong? Cat caught the silver tongue?" Wanda asked and her and Ophelia burst into laugher. Loki scowled but pulled Ophelia into a hug then proceeded to poke her in the side. Ophelia squealed making Wanda laugh even louder. A sound she had never heard before come out of her sisters mouth. But it brought joy to Wanda's heart to see her sister smile. Even if it was from the God of Mischief.
Everything was going as it should it seemed in the Avengers facility. Everyone had their own individual part to play and everyone got along pretty well. Even Ophelia and Bucky. Thor and Loki had even shorted their differences for the time being. But the brothers never missing an opportunity to mess with one another. Peter was there often, he would even bring MJ along with him. It was a good for Ophelia to feel safe around the Avengers. She was starting to really trust them.
The day turned to night and the snow was falling lightly in the air as Christmas approached. Ophelia stood at her bedroom window wrapped in a warm blanket watching the snow fall. As it fell she thought about how her life had changed. The people she had met, the friendships she had built in such a short amount of time. People to share her life with. A family. Wanda and Vision had their own home in the outskirts of the city but they stayed in the compound to help Ophelia adjust accordingly. Turned out Loki never did have an apartment in the city. He would magically transform himself into one of the Avengers members to catch a free bed every night he wasn't out galavanting. Up to his usual antics. But after meeting Ophelia, he was supposedly a changed man. In the aspect of said aspects only of course.
"It's almost Christmas." Ophelia said feeling Loki's presence behind her. He moved closer and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"I thought you didn't celebrate this Midgardian holiday?" Loki asked into her neck. The chill of his icy breath causing a shiver to run down her spine. She leaned he head back into him and gazed at the beautiful snow covered earth before her.
"Wanda does." Ophelia replied. Wanda loved holidays. And although Ophelia wasn't one to celebrate too much during the holiday season, she wanted to be involved in anything her sister was involved in. And if that meant dressing up in red and green and eating copious amounts of pie then so be it.
Loki hummed in response. Understanding why she was looking forward to the holidays this year. Loki wasn't very much into holidays himself either. Thor was always the one to get excited to spend time with their copious amount of distant family members on Asgard. Loki had always felt like an outsider, even before discovering his Jotun heritage. So seeing family every year for holidays and royal festivals wasn't the most exciting thing for him. But he did his best to enjoy it, for Thor and Frigga's sakes.
"And what do you want for Christmas this year?" Loki asked then placed a light kiss on her neck.
"A pony." Ophelia replied with utter seriousness in her tone. Loki rolled his eyes.
"Aren't you going to ask me what I would like?" Loki asked in a joking tone.
"Nope." Ophelia replied with a grin.
"And why is that?" Loki asked pulling her even closer to his body.
"Because I already know what you want for Christmas." Ophelia replied.
"Is that so? Well, tell me then. What is it that I want for Christmas?" Loki asked. Ophelia turned around and wrapped her arms around Loki's neck. She pulled herself up on her toes and locked her lips with his. Loki responded by picking her up and moving her legs to wrap around his waist. He pushed her against the window before them and kissed her with a fever. After a few hot and heavy moments Ophelia pulled her mouth from his and smiled at him wickedly. "You little minx." Loki said with a chuckle. "Merry fucking Christmas." Loki said.
"Merry fucking Christmas." Ophelia replied.
