Let’s start at the beginning, shall we?
My name isn’t what you think it is, and that just might be a little secret that’ll turn my whole world upside down.
I’ve been lying to them for centuries, why would I stop now? I’ve been playing Human for longer than I could even remember. I was always pretending I was something I’m not, someone I’m not.
It was all that I knew.
It was survival.
I’ve told them before, showed them my true self. They hated me. They hunted me.
I was a monster. That’s all I could ever be.
I’ve always built up strong walls against everyone I’ve met. And, there was a good reason too. It’s just like that saying, “Ignorance is bliss”. And, it was true. When I left them in the dark, all of them, they were safe. They were safe from our dreaded society, from my enemies (and I had many), and from myself.
Whenever I let them in on the truth, they died, or worse. No matter what happened, it was always my fault.
I couldn’t do that to Steve, to Becca, to anyone.
I wouldn’t.
I couldn’t.
I had to.
The war was over. I don’t mean the war against the Hitler (World War II). I mean the war against HYDRA. They were a parasite. They started in the second World War under Shmidt’s command. They were Hitler’s most advanced science division, until they weren't. Hitler and his armies were defeated. The war was won.
Or so we thought.
Unfortunately, It wasn’t until they had infected the world’s most lethal and secretive organization and nearly wiped out any opposition they might have that anyone knew they weren’t as dead as everyone thought.
They thought HYDRA was destroyed. They thought it was over.
They were wrong.
HYDRA wasn’t dead, and neither was I.
Steve thought I was dead. Everyone thought I was dead.
Everyone except HYDRA, that is.
In truth, I survived. I was “alive” but still “gone”. That’s what happens after decades of brainwashing, torture, and abuse under the hand of HYDRA. No one’s ever the same after that. I sure wasn’t.
This isn’t just me rambling on about my sad and miserable life. There is a point to all of this. I don’t mean that all of my suffering was to play a bigger part in a more elaborate plan. I mean that this story doesn't end here. I could give you a full summary of what happened next, but what’s the point? You already know all that. (I did tell you this is “Post-Episode: s01e06 One World One People (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier)”.) If you don’t know what I’m talking about just read the ‘Wiki’ or watch the movies or something. (I heard that’s useful.)
